The location has two massive stories of wall-to-wall geeky joy. Books, action figures, art, video gaming goodness; it's got it all. I appreciated how everything was very well organized (largely by pop culture features/brands). It was so well organized that I didn't need to actually ask for any directions or help finding stuff.

So, it's nice to see more mainstream businesses continuing to expand into the area This is a very unique shop and perhaps felt a little niche when I walked in. I was expecting to find comics and yes, I admit to being a little out of date as I haven't been a regular comic reader since I was at school but only a few titles were familiar, like New Avengers, for example. However, film adaptations of characters such as the Watchmen have also brought them to my notice However, be prepared to explore and whole new worlds open where the pen, colours and imagination of modern comic creators can take you. Well my nephew is already bored with four weeks of his summer holidays left to go. He asked me to take him somewhere 'interesting', so we headed to Gosh Comics on Berwick Street. Gosh is a candy store for comic book lovers. It has a great mix of graphic novels and comics from the Watchmen to classics like Conrad's Heart of Darkness. It also has a wide selection of art books, runs events and sells limited edition bookplate prints designed and signed by their authors. Instead of ushering you out of shop, this place has been smart enough to include canteen style seating, so you can look through your potential buys at your leisure and this is complimented by friendly staff who don't bug you. My nephew was officially 'unbored' for about an hour and I got brownie points from my sister for keeping him entertained - good times all round !

But beware old reviews... 30th C gave up stocking the usual wall full of new comics a while back to concentrate on back issues. (Which made sense... their forte.) I asked, and they delivered on some silver age Marvel books. They had DC also but I was short on time. The store is really well organized and easy to navigate and the staff was very helpful. They even "let me down easy" when I was picking through their other boxes when I had to put one of the issues I grabbed two of back to give another customer a chance. Womp womp

Mega City Comics is straight out of a movie. Wall to wall comics, musty smell, long haired rock dude working the counter and a young rock chic sorting out the volumes on the shop floor. The obligatory rock tunes playing over the sound system completes the scene. Black Panther, X-Men, Watchmen, Dark Wolverine, the list is truly endless on what this store has to offer. In hindsight I cannot believe I have missed out on the adolescent comic book phase. The dark energy contained within some of the editions is certainly not for kids, but I'm a big boy now and ready to embrace my sinister side. With comics starting from 99p to limited, hard to find £30+ editions, Mega City Comics is one of my favourite finds.

The employees are not stuffy and they don't bother you at all. There is a wide array of new and old stuff here. I found a lot of Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors, to my delight. It's cheap, cheerful, the books are well organised and in pretty good condition. By buying here you also know you're helping a good cause as of course all the proceeds go to charity. I've bought some great finds, from cookery books to paperbacks that have only recently been published. Definitely worth a browse if you are coming to the market.

The books are in good condition and normally if you buy one, you get one free. The same deal goes for the video tapes ( 99p for one) and I buy loads for my kid. Last time I was there I bought 5 books for only £6. If I were to buy them from WHSmith (I did the maths on their site) the total cost would have been £40.50 for the exact same books!!! Craaaazy!!

This family of hippopotamus-like trolls resides in the Finnish forest in a house in Moominvalley. Their irresistibly cute snouts endeared me to them immediately and I simply had to purchase two placemats with their sweet likenesses on them. I have a glass dining table - which is not something I picked out myself (if I had my way I'd eat upon something made of wood) but it came with the flat so...yeah. Plates directly upon glass are jarring so I'd taken to putting down tea towels prior to the purchase of my Moomins. Now every meal is infinitely more pleasurable with these adorable characters on my table.
