On the way to Camden Market, I was really happy to get a chance to hunt for some nerd gold along the way inside of this store! As I was flipping through the comics, there were nice little reminders in between to let people know that there were other older back issues available to explore and you just had to ask. I asked, and they delivered on some silver age Marvel books. They had DC also but I was short on time. The store is really well organized and easy to navigate and the staff was very helpful. They even "let me down easy" when I was picking through their other boxes when I had to put one of the issues I grabbed two of back to give another customer a chance. Womp womp read more

I am a creative, imaginative guy who loves sci-fi, especially if it involves super-humans. So you can imagine my wonder on my first endeavour to this fantastically stocked comic store. Mega City Comics is straight out of a movie. Wall to wall comics, musty smell, long haired rock dude working the counter and a young rock chic sorting out the volumes on the shop floor. The obligatory rock tunes playing over the sound system completes the scene. Black Panther, X-Men, Watchmen, Dark Wolverine, the list is truly endless on what this store has to offer. In hindsight I cannot believe I have missed out on the adolescent comic book phase. The dark energy contained within some of the editions is certainly not for kids, but I'm a big boy now and ready to embrace my sinister side. With comics starting from 99p to limited, hard to find £30+ editions, Mega City Comics is one of my favourite finds. read more

Not because they've just opened, or because they've only just discovered comics, but because they're one of the better all-rounder comic book stores. In fact all that's missing is someone behind the counter who is large and obnoxious like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. Many of their comics include a blurb on the front cover, which is newbie gold for those who prefer to understand a little more about what they're buying. Megacity comics also seems to have a permanent August sale, and you'll find a lot of their wares either visibly marked off or in a big discount bin. Do you have a problem with a male or female friend that simple does not want to grow up? Well look no further as MC's other products include comic accessories, toys and t-shirts. Oh, and it's probably best not to look at one of their awesome three dimensional posters if you've had a few, especially the one featuring Jack Daniels. This place has been there for as long as I can remember. I've certainly been shopping there for more than 10 years and its hardly changed a bit! One of the best stocks of comics and graphic novels to be found in London, and well worth a visit if your heading to Camden Town. Well laid out and spacious, as well as practically every title you can imagine, they also have some great posters, t-shirts and badges for sale. I like this place so much that I opened a standing order. I am now a true comic nerd because I can be heard asking the woman at the cash register to see if I have any new books being held for me in the back room. Yes, they keep everything in poly bags and you have to ask if you want to flip through them, but the upside is that the kids playing in Camden Market for the day haven't gotten their grubby fingers all over the pages of my new Transmetropolitan. I curl up in my bed to read and I like knowing that Mega City kept the pages fresh and clean for me. Not only do they have all the comics and trade paperbacks that I desire, but they also have great customer service. A few weeks ago I picked up a book and when I got it home I realized it wasn't for me. I didn't save the receipt but I called the store anyway to see if they would be willing to let me exchange. I was shocked when the manager, Ben, let me know it wouldn't be a problem at all. When I brought it back in, the girl at the register told me that it used to be her favorite, but not in a way that said, "you're obviously not cool if you don't like this." Bottom line - I dig the place. read more

I visited this shop during my trip to the UK from the States. In my first attempt to visit this shop I was surprised to find it closed in the middle of it's posted store hours! Maybe someone had to run an errand? I wish someone put a sign up to at least apologize for being closed during normally posted hours. No biggie, but I take off one star here. On my second attempt it was open. It's a decent sized shop and it's easy to find. There are plenty of back issues but most are from the early 90s onward. You can find some silver age issues pinned up high on a wall. I wish there were more silver and bronze age issues so minus one star here. The shop is also well stocked with TPBs, posters, and other super hero gifts. The comics are a bit expensive for an American tourist like me but I walked out with a few in my hands as a souvenir of the shop. It's worth a visit if you are in London! read more

These guys know their comics because they've got almost everything you would want to read about. Their main business is comics but they do have the ocassional action figure standing around. The comic store is hidden behind all the little market stalls in the first market you see opposite the big green sign CAMDEN MARKET. There is normally a lot of fruit and veg stalls close to is. The store was buzzing with activity and to be honest, you would want to buy everything regardless if you like it or not. The staff is friendly and they do know their comics and the best part is that they accept credit and debit cards if you decide to go spend crazy! read more

Coming here was actually a surprise by my best friend who knows that I love comics. The store is located in Camden Town and is medium in size. There is a decent selection of comics that are new and mid range, something for everyone. It wasn't too busy which gave us some time to browse. The guy at the front til was super friendly and made some recommendations. I did pick up a journal. Prices all around are fair market value. read more

Comic book shops (and their employees) often have a reputation for being elitist in some way. However, Mega City comics is a really great shop that quashes this stereotype. I'm not near any comic shops in my home city, but I'm in London for the Summer, and Mega City is my favourite London comic book shop, as it focuses on just that, comics, and has a great staff too. Endless new releases of single issues and graphic novels line the shelves, but there are great finds in the back issue section, where issues are priced mostly at £0.50 to £1.50, far cheaper than other London comic shops. Today I bought an issue of Saga as well as some back issues, not the most expensive purchase ever, but the sales assistant behind the till engaged me in a conversation about other Image Comics releases, and made me feel welcomed in the shop, whereas other shops I've been eager to just make my purchases and leave as quickly as possible. I'll definitely be returning after a pleasant experience today. read more

I went in this comic store the other day to pick up a trade and was astonished by the rudeness of the person behind the desk. I don't know if he was the owner or manager but, as my wife was paying for our purchase with her card, I gently began to pick up the bag that was on the counter. The guy snatched the bag out of my fingers and told me to wait till the transaction was finished. He must've thought that I was going to steal the item but there was no need for him to behave like such an arseh*le! I wasn't going to steal the trade and I certainly will not be going back to this store if this is how he treats his customers. And I would not recommend that any one else do so either. read more

Most probably the best store in the centre of London for back issues, prices are usually quite good. Seems to have a good momentum of new stock coming in on a regular basis, whether for the bargain bins, or the higher end stuff, at least one shops trying! Current issues are good, the staff are always happy to help and have excellent customer service skills. Plus it's in Camden, so I fit in well with my green hair ;-) and I can go and read some purchases by the river, and watch Camden life go by. read more
