They had a nice selection of a variety of genres, and I really liked the children's section, which was partially divided by ages group/reading level (which is helpful for clueless aunties like myself). This place is in dire need of a renovation and some TLC…read more Let's not pretend that Red Barn as a chain isn't well known as a place where people go to have to have anonymous sex. For a business that is owned by the Doc Johnson brand of adult toy manufacturer, this location, along with the Berlin store is seedy and has a reputation as such. In an era where sex isn't something to be hidden and ashamed of, this place reeks of shame and secrets. When stores can be brightly lit and accessable to couples and single customers alike and the competition with an online marketplace where you can get anything virtually overnight through Amazon, this place is still firmly planted in the mid 90s. The booth area is just that; an area to cruise with video booths. The theater is dark, like most of these places, and with competition closing in, losing popularity. It's a shame that an adult entertainment center owned by a sex toy manufacturer has such a small selection, but most people who come here aren't looking for toys. This place needs a desperate face lift and change in business practices if it wants to survive in an area where the competition has brightly lit, well stocked show rooms with quality products with a large election and couple friendly atmosphere. You can only get by on being "that place" for so long.

When inquiring about a book, they sure answer quickly to say they won't offer any discounts. I did…read moreplaced an order for a rare book I thought was fairly priced, plus a bunch of other books that were interesting (hey, if I'm paying for shipping, might as well get some other nice books to read), and got a confirmation email of my order for several hundred dollars. However, after taking my order they stopped answering emails, which I began sending after waiting 2 weeks by the mailbox. After about 4 weeks of writing emails about my order and getting no responses, not one, I finally decide that USPS has had enough time and I give them a call. The person on the other line asks what website I used to place the order, and I told them although I originally saw the book on abebooks.com, but I used their website since I believe it saves booksellers some fees. Then I'm told that they've been having problems "on the back office" with orders not being sent to them. But he's also able to pull up my order, look through it, and tell me that the book I really wanted was already sold, even if it had been on abebooks for a while before I decided to buy it. He says the other books were still available and could be sent if I wanted. I did not. Seems pretty fishy to me that they can see my order, but it wasn't forwarded to them "by the back office" to be fulfilled. Was also fishy that they could respond to my emails before I placed the order but not afterwards. Anyhow, after waiting four weeks and letting other chances to buy the out of print book I wanted at a lower prices pass, I'm pretty dissapointed with this store. Guess I'll go through abebooks or ebay in the future. Probably best to call in your order, but I would stay away for online orders with this store. They seem to be in it for the money and aren't very friendly or helpful.

I met him immediately upon entering the store, as he was sitting right near the door. His name is Dr. Pickles and he is just as lovely as the shop he calls home. The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As the shop's name suggests, they have ample signage outlining the rules and guidelines for trading with them. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.

If you're a vampire, transgendered travelers stuck in Croatia, a bodyguard for a famous actor, a lonely farmer or a gay artist, there was probably a romance book somewhere in the store written just for you. Very welcoming to everyone and anyone. One downside is that the store had some sort of aromatic diffuser, and it was a little too strong for someone like me who is very sensitive to artificial smells.
