I have spent 38 years in the high end hospitality arena and I can honestly say that unlike some of the pretentious "Upscale Boutiques" we've seen in New York, Miami, and other metropolitan areas, Simply Barbara's is frankly...... Simply Refreshing! Very reasonable pricing and a high quality product for the money seems to be the cornerstone of this business model. I don't know who Simply Barbara's buyer is and have never met "Barbara' but they do a heck of a lot better job than 70% of the stores out there. Janie C who gave the place a poor review actually based all of her 300 word rant in a "he-said she-said mode". All of it related to her one year old "bling" glasses, and her discussion with a man at a booth at a state fair! I don't doubt that Janie met someone at the fair and had a run in. The fact is Attitude begets Attitude. Rise above it Girl. If you want a true accounting of any store....Go there. Buy something other than inexpensive "bling" glasses that you beat up for a year by your own admission. Only then can you render a real first hand opinion. Then compose a review that doesn't sound like some jilted prom queen. We actually went there. Several times. We actually bought a lot of clothing and accessories. Some of it "Bling"... some of it serious. It is all first class. It's priced right. Flash forward almost thirty years later and my wife suggests stopping by on a last minute trip to Branson. My 9 year old son seemed really excited to go so of course I agreed to give it a shot. A little underwhelming and annoying at first, the selection was basically one wall but my kid couldn't make what seemed to be a simple decision, I was ready to bolt about five minutes after we arrived. But then, it happened...my kid decided on his new best friend. It wasn't the cool outfits that changed my mind, it sure as hell wasn't the gaggle of screaming kids or the drained faces of almost every other father perusing the same choices over and over and over, nope, wasn't that. It was my kids face. When he finally made the choice to go with a red fox. When his eyes lit up after he discovered a Riddler costume hidden behind a couple Batman outfits. When he stood in line waiting for his chance to bring his new friend to life. Pretty well completely hands on, all except the stuffing and closing up of the plushie, the process of "building-a-bear" was nothing short of magical. Easily my son's favorite part of the trip and we had done it all at that point. He was asked to hold the creatures little stuffed heart and make a wish, the smile on his face when that heart was inserted into his fox, when the stuffing started to fill the little plush body, when he got to select a name and was handed an official birth certificate; these are a few of things that made it all worth it and made me almost forget the dreadful hour I waited for him to decide on a carcass to stuff and what to dress it with. That's the magic of Build-A-Bear, the end result. The way it makes a kid feel to have something so personal and hand picked come to life. To other disgruntled dads who are ready to just "get the show on the road", if you have young kids make the stop. This was definitely worth the time and money.

This is a small nostalgic museum with neat little cafe. They have a few parking spots out front,…read morebut it can get a little tight. We decided to get a quick bite to eat in the cafe before exploring the museum. It is an 80s themed cafe with a full bar with seating, booths and tables. There is also a stage that has Alvin and the chipmunk statues on it. We got some of their pretzel bites and nachos. We also got some of their fun themed adult beverages to wash our apps down. The bartender/waited was awesome. He was very friendly and helpful. He had tons of personality. We then went over to the museum. I think the food in the restaurant and admission was a bit over priced, but it is Branson. The first floor of the museum has classic arcade games that are set to free play, so you can play them as much as you like without having to put in a quarter. There are also some photo ops with Simpsons, E.T., Maverick (Top Gun), Darth Vader, Indiana Jones, and the Terminator statues available. You will find the cashier, a couple of escape rooms and a gift shop (which did not have much) on this floor as well. On the way up the stairs you will come across a Bill and Ted mannequin and a pay phone, which I enjoyed showing my kids. On the second level, which is dimly illuminated, is where the fun happens. You will find more escape rooms up here, a small cosmic miniature golf course, and cool movie theater that plays 80s movies. They were playing Gremlins while I was there and they had Gremlin mannequins in the front row. I went through the hunted house and even though they did not have any live characters, and I knew what was coming, I still found the haunted house to be a bit scary. I may have flinch a bit walking through. The mini golf course glows and has an 80s music theme, with Michael Jackson and Guns and Roses mannequins. Everything except the escape rooms are included with admissions. You will find a bunch of 80s memorabilia around the museum like cabbage path dolls, troll dolls, critters, and a prince guitar. There are also placards throughout the museum that provide information on some of those exhibits. I liked this place. and most people that grew up in the 80s will go through here and reminisce about their childhood. The museum does have a lot crammed into it little space and spills out into the parking lot with a Top Gun jet and a Robo Cop police car. I recommend checking this place out, and suggest you search spots like Groupon to save you a few bucks. They do offer a military discount.
