They also have adorable merch, clothing, and tons of romance trinkets. But BY FAR are the Cockmark (bookmarks) that are so unassuming Also, just down the street is the brand new Thrillerdeplia, a horror and thriller bookstore! This shop is like a futuristic comic shop. I can see how it would be more inclusive and welcoming. Super selection of board games I've never seen and a lot of POP figures. Lots of fantastic books. Those probably filled the shelves more than comics. Good selection of trades. A few I'd never seen before but also I never know what I'm looking for. For someone like me I'd still need to supplement for everything I like. Back issues are non existent here. Possibly helps to keep it smelling nice! Nothing is on sale or "cheap" because the place is brand new. I don't think that's a deterrent though. You just need to set expectations for what you are going in their for. If you're looking for an 80's black and white turtles issue then go to Ontario. If you're looking for a brand new trade that has all those issues from that run in one place than go here. I picked up a…read morecopy of "The Dog Lover's Companion to Philadelphia" and if my budget was unlimited, would have gone absolutely crazy. I also grabbed some interesting vintage-y postcards that they have up by the register, and look forward to sending those out to friends and family. The store seems to never end, twisting through room after room and also an upstairs section. The labelling system is the perfect mix of chaos and clarity, which I know doesn't really make sense. I didn't leave enough time to properly look through every section, but I can guarantee that you will find something to pique your interest if that's what you come in for. A great way to spend 30 minutes if you're exploring the neighborhood or in need of some additions to your bookshelf!

The service was wonderful, and I found a book I couldn't resist taking home with me. Since their books are a third of the original retail price of the book, you can find some great deals while also supporting the Chestnut Hill Library when you shop at Hilltop! Definitely stop by if you're in the area and love a bookstore!

The reason for the low rating is the selection, which BLOWS. The shelves are often partially empty, and the books they do stock are either bestsellers that everyone carries (i.e. the Twilight series) or those bargain-bin books that you always see knocked down to $3.99 at Borders. You know, the random cookbooks and craft books that have no discernible author but are put together by a team of editors? Yeah, those. That's about it with this place. They do also sell some cards, blank books, and knickknacks, but I've seen comparable selections in hospital gift shops. On the plus side, the staff really is wonderful and is happy to do special orders at any time and for any book. I know someone who places orders frequently through them and is very pleased.

Currently I think they are doing some internal redistributing and removing of older books, I think this would be a better place if the prices of the books dropped by a few dollars. They at least cost $7.95, the cheapest non sale books are $3.95, and it can go up as high as $17.95. In the future people will shop for used books on Amazon instead of coming here. Even the resale price for bringing your books here isn't worth it. Go to mostly books, it has a bigger selection that is much cheaper.

Now it's up in Old City, which probably isn't a bad place for it. It's near Big Jar, which I think is a MUCH better used book store. Book Trader is still pretty huge. It has a large selection of books but they are often very disorganized and not well filtered. It isn't that I need my books chosen for me but I wouldn't mind not having to weed through the real crap. Usually if I can't find what I need at Big Jar I'll hit up Book Trader.

So I was really in the mood for some Usagi Yojimbo. I was doing some research on trades I might want. Research for me is putting it in my Amazon cart and then hoping I can find it locally. That was Friday night and the plan was to go out to find it Sunday. I just was like there has to be something closer. I started doing some research. There goes that word again. This time it meant googling and reading reviews. That lead me to this place. I read some cool stuff about the owner. He's an illustrator and makes all his own sticker/shirt designs that you can't get anywhere else. So Sunday rolled around and I went over there. Loved the set up. Nice little oldie but goodie section. Cool collectibles and some great rarities. Guy at the front desk was awesome. I spent a while in there bullshitting. He made some pretty good suggestions. I totaled it up and I could walked out of there spending $300 were I to have gotten everything I wanted in there. Luckily I did not. However I will be back. The collectable Batman '89 figure was there. I'd never seen it in person. Also it's cheaper than it is on the internet. That doesn't normally happen. I'm not into it but there was talk with another customer of board game or D&D nights in the near future. So you should check this place out. It's not huge but it has some cool stuff.
