Short review: this is a must stop if you drive by Time: We went on a Saturday afternoon in October 25. Outsize: For the road it looks like a clean BBQ joint with plenty of parking, a patio and easy to get to. Inside: once we got in the first thing we noticed was the friendly staff, like chick fil a standards friendly. Anyways, the restaurant has plenty of seating with 4 person tables that can support large groups easily. Very family friendly and the patio has a dog water bowl! Paper menu with ice cream flavors on the window. Staff event opened an extra register to help with the crowd size. Food: this is where they shine even brighter. The staff answered questions, asked about food allergies, and where helpful. I got the sampler platers (best way to see what is good) and was I surprised! The smoked wings might be the best thing there. Really these are amazing and I don't really eat wings. The brisket was my favorite, so much smoke flavor, tender with a nice smoke ring and so flavorful. The ribs were perfect, competition style with great bark, and fantastic pull, with a sprinkle of brown sugar on top to serenade your taste buds. Finally the bbq pork was delicious, sadly outshined by the others but it was good enough you don't need sauce for it. Speaking of sauces, original sauce was tomato with a tiny bit of sweet, the spicy was same just a bit of heat added, and the Carolina was the big winner here, tangy and sweet, had to grab a bottle on the way out. I'll end by saying m THIS is what a restaurant was before 2020; a place you what to keep coming back to, clean with friendly staff (they refilled out glasses 5 times with a smile EVERY time), and food you can't easily make at home (It's like most restaurants just cook from cans and bags these days) or buy at Kroger. Do stop here if you're in the area, we will be returning here even though it's a 45 min drive one way. read more

10/10 experience with having Boondocks cater our rehearsal dinner! We were blown away with the catering experience! Everyone came dressed really nicely and everyone was super friendly! They even carved the pork for us and served the food! And the food was AMAZING my only regret is not having more leftovers. Tracy was amazing to work with and even let us switch up the ice cream flavors last minute (the pumpkin oreo was to die for). Highly recommend for eating and for catering!!!! read more

This is a wonderful local BBQ joint. The owner sat next to us while we ate and spoke with us. This place felt like the good ol' days like a place your grandfather would have taken you. The pork BBQ sliders are in Hawaiian rolls and are a great size. Fries were fresh and crispy. Smoked wings had a beautiful color and smoke with no mushy sticky skin. The outside was crispy and the meat moist. BBQ pork was wonderful. The best things here though are the sauce and the ice cream and milkshakes. The Carolina sauce was amazing and the milkshakes are creamy and taste of days gone by. We took home the Carolina sauce and the spicy buoy sauce. read more

We wanted to try a new place to eat. Boondocks is only 45min from where we are staying not too far from the GA / AL line, so we headed that way! We ordered the sampler platter, loaded mac & cheese, brisket salad, the cattleman eggroll, the porky eggroll, & the children's grilled cheese. The brisket is seasoned & smoked to perfection. The smoked wings are simple & smoked, but absolutely delicious. And the wings are large wings, not the smaller wings & drums you get at chain restaurants! We decided to try their ice cream after our meal & the flavors were also delicious! We will definitely be returning for some more DELICIOUS smoked BBQ! read more

I've eaten once at Boondocks on 431, ate at the highway 48 location for the second time today. Let me preface my review by saying I'll support local anytime I can. So.... We had a party of 14. There was a tour bus full of college students already there. Not to mention the usual crowd. The best BBQ hands down in the surrounding counties. Had lunch on a Saturday and despite the number of people going in and out we were able to order our food really quickly. After ordering, the food came out immediately! The pulled pork and chopped brisket are great. Exactly what I was looking for. The Boondocks stew was delicious, cole slaw was likely not made on-site but great nonetheless, and the mac and cheese wasn't my favorite. Have had poor customer service, incorrect orders, missing items. When brought to the attention of management just given excuses. This LAST time, ranch salad dressing was placed in with the hot meal. Tucked in to the hot brisket. Threw that salad away! Three full meals including a RACK of ribs, and only two sauces included, tho so asked for them upon ordering and pick up. It's not McDonald's, shouldn't have to check everything before pulling away. Gave them every chance to get it right! Not getting another chance. If you eat outside and the fly's try to carry you off and you and your family decide to move inside and you take your plate in and place it on a table while trying to help your children get there food in and you come back and your food tray isn't there....they threw it away in a matter of 30 seconds. Great BBQ. I have been to many BBQ restaurants across the country. This is a a good one for the Wedowee area. I have had the pork plate which was great. I also have had the pork sandwich. Also great. You won't go away hungry as they put lots of pork on both. Their fries are different but also very good. Only problem is they are only open Thursday through Sunday. read more

Good bbq , price is about average for bbq which usually tends on the higher side. Ice cream sandwiches are EXCELLENT. highly recommend. For the person saying they had a tip jar at the drive thru and that's why they got all upset. Whatever , tips are optional.
