We've been meaning to try this Thai restaurant, and finally decided to go. We ordered the Pad Thai, as that seems to be a signature dish that we can easily judge. This Pad Thai was very sweet; it must have had lots of tamarind sauce, but not much, if any, soy sauce. We also ordered the Fried Rice. This was pretty good. We attempted to eat there last week (only because Siam Thai was closed) and it was a total disaster! We waited an hour and ten minutes after we ordered and they hadn't even started preparing our food. The teenage-looking waitress said "we are short-staffed in the kitchen plus we had a bunch of take-out orders". I can easily understand the food taking longer because they were short-staffed but I strongly disagreed with them fulfilling "a bunch of take-out orders" while customers like us who drove there in good faith, in the rain should sit there completely ignored. After another 10 minutes went by with no acknowledgment at all, we left having wasted the window that we had for dinner together. We even got into a little argument on the way out because the waitress is an unsophisticated and combative person, wholly unsuited for her job. The reality is that this place just isn't well-staffed or trained in good customer service. The combination of ignorance and belligerence from the staff make for a very dysfunctional experience that should definitely be avoided until they make serious changes there. read more

If I could give NEGATIVE stars, I would. I have NEVER been treated so horribly by staff anywhere! First, they got my order wrong - no big deal, except the young girl at the register acted like she didn't care that we ordered beef and NOT chicken. The order was for a coworker I was picking up so I insisted they make it beef. In the meantime, I had ordered Mongolian Beef ($7.00), upgrade to fried rice (+$1.00) and add an order of eggrolls ($2.95). Per the menu we had in our office, the total should've been about $12.00 with tax. It came out to $20 and change! When I asked about it, she only said, our prices have changed. I said, ok, well can I get a menu to take so we have the most recent prices? She said, "We don't have any." I'm sorry, you don't HAVE any MENUS?! She ran my card and then my coworkers card. My coworker got a receipt, I did not. When I asked for one, she said she couldn't give me one! WTH? I asked again why she printed one for coworker and not for me and her reply was, "I don't know what to tell you." At that point, I was already upset with her attitude and I asked to speak with someone else who could help me. She crossed her arms and said, "They're all busy." I was furious at that point and told her that her attitude was very poor and she was not helping me in any way and I wanted to forget the whole order. She refused! She walked away from me WHILE I was still trying to talk to her and grabs the to go bag and throws it on a table about 5 feet away from me. She never said another word. After a minute went by I said, "I assume this is MY order since you didn't call out a name?" She says, "yeah" and turns away again! I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. And the food was mediocre at best. First thing I want to say is the food was delicious. My husband said the food was as good as ever and for what you get the price hits right on. If that had been all I was going to post about this would have been a 5 star. What hurts this rating is the waitress we had. If I had not known better I would have thought that we had entered into one of Dick's Last Resort restaurant chains. From the very beginning before a word was spoken there was immediate attitude and why the heck are you bothering me eating here. Me ordering Jasmine tea apparently set the evening off horribly for our table because that was too much to ask. Right now I cannot have a soy because I am breastfeeding and my baby reacts very strongly when I have had it. So obviously I'm avoiding it very purposely. Usually soups are safe, but Asian restaurants will add soy to many things and I wanted to be sure it was not being added to the soup, noodles, or any of the meats they are using. The waitress said I don't know and then stop talking. And then when I gave her a look of encouragement like soooo. She said but I guess I can ask. She then proceeded to go to the back with complete attitude and annoyance written all over her face and body. I don't normally judge people by their appearance but if her attitude had not been in what it was I don't think I would have started analyzing her overall appearance... her hair was a greasy mess holding on to dear life to stay in the 'bun' and her overall appearance was sloppy. She came back and told me the soup does not have soy in it. And I asked...they checked the ingredients to make sure no soy was added to any of the process meets. She gave me a look and said the cook said there was no soy. I am sorry but my baby is very sensitive to soy. I can't be messing with this stuff. And I don't get her attitude. Now this was my fault I didn't realize they had pho. So I said would you mind making sure that everything in the pho is without soy as well and asking them again about the processed meats to make sure there's no soy in them. She says ... well it's pho...and then just gave me this smirk. So I just repeated myself...would you please go check. So she leaves again and comes back with another waiter and he informs me the ingredients aren't listed. So I got a little attitude this time because I just couldn't take this anymore and I said...so you guys just grabbed the food from the garbage then because there's no ingredients listed? I know, totally did not help the situation. He then says the ingredients aren't listed on the boxes from US Foodservice. Which is the biggest baloney I've ever heard in my life. For severe allergy reasons, there's no way US Foods can sell food without having all the ingredients listed. At this point I just can't take any more I said can you please just have to cook just confirm that there's really no soy or even just talk to me about maybe what I can have that for sure will be safe to eat. They come back and the cook says they're not coming out and there's no soy in the pho. I get why they're not coming out I'm pretty sure there's only one cook for the whole restaurant. I have pretty much given up and I don't trust what I an about to eat. I felt really horrible about all this. This used to be my husband's favorite restaurant when he lived here over 10 years ago. The 2nd waiter was very nice and ended up taking care of us the rest of the time and the other waitress left. It just really set a bad mood for our time there and my husband was so angry. That never happens. So again the food was good, but if you have food allergies, don't come here. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Ordered Spicy Basil Beef stir fry with rice. Received Spicy Basil Beef fried rice. I don't like to eat much rice and the food delivered was inedible because it was 90% rice. I requested it be remade as ordered. One server told me that's how it's always served, another told me the chef gets confused between the two different options on the menu often. When we left we were informed we were required to pay for both dishes. Two different dishes on the menu and one not touched. I order the exact same dish at every Thai restaurant and once it arrived corrected was the worst I've ever eaten but was hungry and it was my birthday dinner so I did eat the corrected order. Had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. We love Thai food and weren't sure if this place in the middle of the mountains would be good, but it was great. We got Tom Kah with shrimp, which was amazing. The cheese rolls had a crispy shell and creamy insides. Delicious. We also had the papaya salad, which had a great flavor and came with cabbage and peanuts. The spicy basil fried rice was awesome. We got it with beef. It was all great, but the best thing was the Phad Ped Seafood. I don't think I've had a better Thai seafood dish. This used to be EXCELLENT!!! A favorite of mine. I got curry which was watered down and not even CLOSE to the food they served 10 years ago. Four of us were there for over two hours!! One cook, 2 servers packed house. We ordered very simple meals and an appetizer. Our total bill was over &100! The food did NOT match the prices charged. When our food finally came out it was not all brought out at once. After serving our food we did not see nor hear from our waitress. Drinks were empty. Focus on known patrons. Well my money is JUST as good as theirs!! After we ate we waited 20 minutes just to get the check and had to ask for it. Our waitress got $.00 tip from me!!! Don't know if I'll be back. I doubt it. Won't return.First time there. Ordered drinks. Got them, ordered app, they were out. Ordered a different app, not impressed. The wonton soup was chicken and stars with a huge wonton in it. Everything on menu was spicy. Very few dishes that weren't. Usually you can ask (in other establishments) for non spicy, but not there. Many diners waited a long time for their food. The ppl behind us asked and the waitress said they were filling take out orders first. ? Food came out in serving dishes , no plates to put food on and it was swimming in watery sauce. Brocolli was frozen and small, portion size was very small. They do not give you a bill to review, you go up to the counter to pay. No music for ambiance with basic decor. Carpeting was filthy. I have been to Boone Thai before and the food is good. This time I went in 15 minutes after they opened to order takeout and they said it would be 35 minutes . 50 minutes later still waiting and the hostess/waitress never approached me t apologize for the wait. The food was good, however one of the dishes did not have the snow peas as listed on the menu. read more

This place is typical of almost all Asian eateries: very sparse decoration with too much overhead lighting. We waited a bit for our food, but the server was attentive and apologetic. He made sure our beverages were full and brought our salads out ASAP. Once we got them, our entrees were tasty and the prices are reasonable. I was in Franklin for a college field trip and came in very hungry. There was a little bit of a wait but when the food came out it was like Christmas morning. I ordered the yellow curry and it was absolutely stunning and the staff came over regularly to wait on us. My companions all really enjoyed the food as well. An amazingly authentic Thai restaurant in the middle of nowhere mountains. The atmosphere is almost luxurious, with beautiful tablecloths, fine dish ware, and pleasant surroundings. Kind servers, affordable prices (even for a mostly broke college student), and delicious classics. I've been three times with friends, and have not heard complaints about a single dish. Amazing authentic Thai food!! I recommend the basil rolls, Phad thai, spicy basil fried rice, chili jam chicken! Any dish can be customized to add/subtract any veggies you like, made gluten free, or with tofu! Oh and the peanut dressing that comes on the salad is DELISH!! We've been going to Boone Thai for many years because we have family just over the mountain in Sylva. The food had always been good but the service varies. Tonight we wanted to have a nice dinner out without the kid but the evening was a bit ruined because it took over an hour to get our food. Almost every table waited this long from what we could tell. It definitely appeared to us like the kitchen was prioritizing takeout orders, and we heard one of the waitresses telling another couple that they were filling takeout orders and that's why the service was so slow. The poor waitresses seemed harried. The food when it came was fine, though the Penang curry was a bit flavorless. The Cashew Nut Chicken was very good. As were the Basil Rolls. Honestly we were so hungry by the time the food came we probably would have eaten pond scum and gorilla feet. read more

I've eaten here twice, the first time the food was good although I had to add a ton of salt to my masaman chicken, but the basil rolls were good. The service however was HORRIBLE! It took an hour and a half to get our food with people who came in after us getting their food. I ordered the same meal tonight to go and the massaman chicken was so horribly bland that I can barely eat it. I've probably put a ton of salt, and other spices in it, and it still has no flavor. Doubt I will ever eat their again. read more

Someone recommended this restaurant to me so I gave it a try and came away disappointed. I just ordered simple shrimp fried rice for takeout. Got home and they had given me chicken fried rice. The service is fast and very friendly. They check up on you often to make sure the food is good. And man is the food good. My favorite is the spicy basil chicken with noodles. I like to substitute zucchini instead of the onions and peppers. And there is always enough left over to enjoy the following day for lunch! My boyfriend loves the sweet and sour chicken. I have tried this restaurant several times, trying to find something to like. But every time, it just amounts to me throwing my money away:( I tried again tonight, ordered fresh ginger pork, fried rice and satay chicken. I had to sit/stand around and wait for my order for about 20 minutes after I got there. The satay chicken was tough, dry and as tasty as shoe leather. The pork was tough and dry, and the whole ginger pork dish was watery and had an "odd" taste to it at best:( The only part of the meal that was decent was the fried rice lol....and it is plain fried rice...no veggies, nothing in it. It was pretty good. Kinda pricey ($11 dollars for pad Thai shrimp) but the meal was really two and made pretty decent leftovers. Food took a long time and we had a birthday at the table- we spent a lot of money and they did not comp even one dessert (not that I really expected it, but it would have been nice.
