We went to Booth District Park a few weeks ago. It was my first time going there that I remember. It's a pretty big park and they have parking spaces all around the park. We went there for the playground but there wasn't any spaces in front of the playground so we had to walk just a little to get there. It's a really nice park to go to if you're in the area. They have a nice field, playground, basketball courts, and pickle ball courts. The playground is a little different from others because it has a zip line for kids. You hang onto a handle and with enough momentum you can swing yourself to the other side. My daughter loved that when we went to a park in California and we just never saw one of those in Hawaii. But now we know... They do exist! The playground is also in the shade so you won't get fried when waiting for your kids to finish playing. And there is a bench to sit and rest while you wait. Great park, we hope to go back there soon. read more

This is a hidden gem in the heart of Pauoa. When I heard about the Yelp Earth Day Challenge, Booth Park immediately came to mind. My husband works for the DOE and wanted to "check out" this park last year. Although we live in Moiliili, the drive is quick since it's right off the freeway. So glad we did... It's now one of our top 3 parks to take the boys! The facilities are well maintained, shaded by the huge trees that offer parents and kids shelter from the midday sun. My oldest son (4.5yrs) loves the swings and riding his scooter around the basketball and tennis courts. My youngest (3rd) enjoys jumping off the concrete benches and mastering the playground (which is more elaborate than the usual city park playgrounds around town). There's spinning chairs, slides, a mini zip line, drums, and chimes that kids can make music with! So cool! Parking is fairly easy to find around the park perimeter. Area has been consistently safe when we take the kids (about once every couple of weeks). Great for all ages but adult supervision is still recommended esp for the littles. read more

I miss this place that's located in Pauoa Valley. My parents purchased a house across the street of Booth Park when I was 2 years old. I spent soooo much time here from summer fun, being a junior leader, riding my bike, on the swing and jungle jim, hang out with my friends, etc. Booth Park is a really nice place...not too big, has a lot of shade due to the many trees and lots of activities like a swimming pool, basketball court, gym, etc. People hold get-togethers/picnics, bible studies or birthday parties with a bouncy house here. It was a sad day almost a year ago when we sold my parents house. Whenever I'm in town, we try to pass the house and this park because of so many awesome memories. We visit friends that still live in the valley but it's not the same. read more

This has become our new favorite playground! The play structure seems to have been updated recently, and it's quite a large one with lots of things to climb. Also one of the rare playground with a swing set! It's set in a residential area, and as far as I can see, the park is well maintained. No dangerous objects lying around, and no homeless folks either. The bathroom is right next to the playground which is huge plus for families with small children. Parking can be a bit of a headache, as there is no parking lot. read more

1st off- Amber Lopes is a great person to work with. Super nice & helpful! My family enjoyed hosting a baby shower here this past weekend. The trees were great for shade! The pool being open was a BONUS to the baby shower! I asked the kids if the lifeguards were nice & they said Yes! We made plates of food for them. Getting the permit was so easy with Amber. She communicates BEST through email & calls back as soon as she can after teaching her classes. Parking was easy to find but it did fill up kind of quickly because there was another party as well. We were on the Mauka Side. I suggest this side! Having the gym bathroom open was also a PLUS! Old folks didn't have to park by the park to use the bathroom. Although we did just give them rides there & still came back to our same parking spot. We went 5:30/6:00am to set up our 20x30 tent and the Sprinklers went OFF. Lol, so just keep that in mind. Almost 10 sprinklers going off. A few at a time in the different areas to cover all the grass. After that it was good. A few of the neighbors were so nice. Some we felt like was KARENS just staring and trying to find a problem to complain about haha. But it's good thing we all followed ALL the rules and regulations of the C&C park! There no lights so break down before it gets dark. I gave it a 4 star because of the FLIES. Hehe, because the community walks their dogs there, the poop were probably left on the grass and that's how flies started to come around. So wear leggings! Other than that, I'm excited to host another event there. Now we know what to expect and we can come a little more prepared. I'll post pictures soon! read more

This was our 1st visit to this park that is a hidden gem in Pauoa. Sam the Jack Russell terrier dog loves to explore the surrounding. There are recreational gym, playground, basketball ball court, baseball area field, and swings. Not too many parks have swings. Restroom closes at 4:30 pm. Many big trees and green grass so weather is pretty windy on a Sunday afternoon. read more

Hidden in beautiful Pauoa Valley is probably one of my favorite parks on the whole entire island. I grew up here in the valley and have so many fond memories of times spent with my family and friends here. From Easter egg hunts hosted by the city, and hanging out at the basketball courts after school to Christmas parades hosted around the neighborhood, and playing volleyball in the gym, Booth park holds a special place in my heart. The park itself is of pretty decent size in a residential neighborhood. They have an indoor gym, a pool, and two outdoor basketball courts. There's also a swing set, a playground, and a huge field with two baseball backstops. The park has definitely changed a bit since I was little but all in a good way. There's nothing a little bit of paint, maintenance, and cleaning up can't fix. The jungle gym and playground area recently got a face lift and was replaced with newer equipment as well. The perimeter of the park is lined with huge trees that shade you in the afternoon sun and rustle loudly in the the wind. The park is never usually busy or crowded, making for great social distancing and a great place to sometimes just sit and admire the beautiful valley. There are two picnic tables behind the baseball backstops that are perfect for picnics, or simply just sitting and hanging out. From sports teams practicing on the field, pick up games on the black top outside of the gym, to families hanging out at the playground and swim lessons at the pool, the park is always filled with so much life especially in the afternoon and on the weekend. As someone who lives in the valley, parking or getting to the park is never really an issue--I just walk there. For those visiting, I would suggest carpooling as the only parking available is street parking. read more

This park is LOVELY. Ancient trees tower above you, offering amble shade over the entire playground structure. Cool pebble cement benches low to the cushioned ground surround the jungle gym, an enticing place for parents/guardians to rest while watching their children play. High fence for safety. Full basketball court outdoors and indoors, sprawling level grassy soccer field and baseball diamond, well maintained pool with life guard on duty. Street parking in a quiet sunny neighborhood. This afternoon was a perfect, sun-speckled memory gifted to my children and myself via Booth Park. I can't wait to return, next time with snacks so we can stay for twice as long. read more

We came to Booth District Park for a birthday party. They had to get a permit to have a party there. They were able to set up in the grassy area. The park itself is very large. They have a pool, community center, playground, and bathroom area. They have some picnic tables to sit on. There are lots of parking along the perimeter of the park on the street. The park is also very shady, which makes it excellent! We went to the bathrooms and it was decent for a public park bathroom. The playground was very large and there were many different parts to the playground that you don't normally see. There were some parts of the play structure that was broken. You could tell that they have no attempted to fix it. One part was rather dangerous because the corner of the structure was lifting and someone had duct taped it. If it were to break a kid could fall right off. This park does have swings which you don't usually see very often. I think that overall it is an excellent park to bring the kids. It's in pauoa, which is a nice neighborhood. Hopefully the state fixes up the playground equipment to make it safer for the kids that visit! read more

Booth District Park is my new found community gem...they have indoor and outdoor basketball facilities...great cause where I been playing...there ain't no game...large pool watched closely by pool manager/lifeguard, picnic areas, baseball diamond, and a nice children's play ground. It has that spongy asphalt surface...not red clay...important for keeping the well dressed youngsters clean... Pool times are 2:30-5:30 Sat-Sun; 1:30-4:30 Mon-Fri. Indoor basketball/volleyball 2:30-9:00 Seven days...basketballs and volleyballs are available for use... To get to Booth Park: If you are traveling from Kahala, take the Pali exit, follow it till the first stop light just past Lynn's and Wiki Bikes...turn right into the far right lane...it's half mile up Pauoa and on the left...same goes coming from Leeward just a left on to Pali and then merge right and follow above...if you are coming from Kailua...take the Pauoa Exit merge over to the far lane and follow Pauoa Road..bout 1/2 to 3/4 mile up and on the left...can't miss it. My kiddies just finished up Summer Fun at Booth park and it was quite the "experience." I grew up going to Summer Fun in Halawa as a kid and have fond memories of taking home lunch, playing in the big gym and doing the good old Summer Fun finale dance! In a way it's a right of passage. Booth park has a big playground, huge field, a gym and a pool. You can take your kids swimming here but in the Summers you need to sign up early because the classes fill up quickly. Although I really liked the adults who run the program, I think my kids had mixed feelings about attending Summer Fun because they weren't too wild about going every day. I later found out that my daughter didn't like that the leaders yell at the children in the morning and they both didn't want to go swimming for fear of drowning in the pool. They aren't used to being yelled at by strangers and can't swim, so these are two very valid reasons in my opinion. What can I say, my kids are pretty sheltered and they haven't had the same "local" experiences I did as a kid. My daughter refers to bad behavior as "unacceptable." It made me realize that I might be using that term a bit too often. I thought my parents were the greatest for sending me to Summer Fun. Now as an adult, I realize that it was just a very cheap form of subpar child care! For $125 per kid I sent them to Summer Fun for 6 weeks! Crazy right?! My one main regret about Summer Fun? My daughter has acquired the word "like" into her vocabulary and says it every three words. The guilt I have for trading cheap childcare for my daughter's ability to process speech is overwhelming. Yikes. I would give them three stars but am upping it four because it is a great resource for the surrounding community. Thanks again Yelp for steering a mother in the right direction. Although some elements to their playground are missing/broken (come on city and county...), the location, and overall amenities of this park are great. It's in a nice residential neighborhood with not a lot of through traffic which makes the vibe of the place a bit more chill. I love how the big playground area is shaded with trees! The bathrooms are clean and even better how the bathrooms, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts are right next to the playground. Too bad the outdoor light meters for the courts are also broken too. The large field has a baseball diamond and large trees for again, more shade. This has definitely become my favorite go to park to let my high engery kindergartner blow off a lot of steam. read more

8.1.13. In my opinion this park is one of the better district parks on the island! The indoor gym has the same flooring as Manoa--looks pretty new & has that squishy texture. I love the fact that there are a lot of open gym opportunities and this park supports a lot of work sports leagues. The park itself is very lush! Great place to play outdoor and indoor volleyball! Booth Park is located in the Pauoa Valley area (which is within a short walk of our home) right off of the Pali. It offers swings, play equipment, a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor basketball courts and a really nice field that serves as a football/baseball/softball arena. This is a great community park that offers numerous events for kids and adults. The only real downfall is that there isn't a lot of parking available so walking is the best bet . . . but I guess that's the idea a community park huh? read more

They have swings here! Granted, 2 out of the 4 swings are missing, but it still beats the other parks without swings. The park also has slides, a swimming pool, basketball court and a large field to play catch, etc. Also love the fact that it's within walking distance from home. read more

Been coming to this park for years for our Lawyers League. It's a nice park, clean and well kept. The park facilities are nice and clean. Only bad thing is it's hard to get parking. read more

Great for kids. Big playground for all ages and is very shady so kids aren't hot from the sun. There's the pool that is always warm which is a good thing for kids so that they are not always freezing going in. And lifeguard are great in making sure that kids are safe by enforcing the pool rules. Than there the gym that's always open for basketball or volleyball n a really big field for picnic or parties.hh read more

I played volleyball in a league in this gym the other night. I haven't played in this gym for a very long time -- pre Yelp days -- and I forgot how small the gym was. One word for it: quaint. Everyone is not as spread out and provides an opportunity to really get to know everyone there. read more

I play indoor soccer at the gym once a week. The gym is in great shape, the court isn't as hard as other courts, and they have relatively clean bathrooms. As long as the doors are open, the gym has a nice breeze. Only thing is that in the early evening, when the sun is setting, the sun is blinding as it shines through the front door. Parking isn't the best either, but you'll eventually find a spot somewhere in the neighborhood. read more

This is a nice little park hidden in a residential neighborhood. I bring my son to play soccer in the field and enjoy the small playground. They also have a pool that's open during certain hours with a life guard on duty. It's a nice spot for a getaway with the kids. read more
