There were two levels and a multitude of rooms to appreciate the pieces of art up close and personal since there weren't many barriers establishing boundaries. The exhibit was well done and highly informative. We found the regular collections including the murals in the Walker Art Building, formerly the lobby, and wooden masks once worn by individuals in New Ireland, an island in Papua New Guinea, at funerals and other cultural events to be equally enjoyable. Employees were just setting up a pair of new exhibits on the day of our visit so we did not get the opportunity to explore the entire museum as we will on an upcoming visit. There is no admission fee though donations are gratefully accepted.

Because Monhegan is mecca for summertime plein air painters, there are brushes and paper and other art supplies here as well. She carries frustrations with her that are connected to the challenges she faces every day, and going to Spindleworks relieves that frustration for her. She enjoys creating art or fine crafts, but more than that, she expresses herself through her art in ways she cannot verbally. When she first began, she only created one simple form of finished work, but they encouraged her over s long period of time to branch out, and now she creates art in many different ways: painting, weaving, ceramics and more. And on the more practical side, Spindleworks has a store that you have to visit. The products are unique and expressive, and a good percentage of the purchases goes to the artists, as it should be. A new twist is that after you are done shopping in the store itself, you can explore the entire artist facility, as they also have items for sale on display in all the art rooms.

It was huge had 2 big white roses , lilies and was so big that we had to make a new bouquet that the bride could carry for the simple wedding from OTHER flowers we had purchased elsewhere to decorate the house. The HUGE bouquet was used as a floor decoration. A small hair barrette was also ordered- it was specifically to be tiny with no baby's breath but just two red rose BUDS. It was white and it was not roses at all and was large. A friend remade this with , again, flowers we had purchased for other use elsewhere. The groom's boutonniere , which was to be one small red rosebud, was a huge white rose. One wonders if there was some agenda here or simply poor service. These were all carefully ordered. The blossoms used were all reasonably fresh but this caused us to need to call a friend in at the last minute to fix the flowers.

I searched desperately and when I called Shelley's Flowers and gifts, I was greeted with a very calming and reassuring voice saying that she would do everything I had requested! I was updated throughout the process and it warmed my heart to know that my dear friend was given exactly what I knew she wanted! When I called my friend to see if she liked everything, she said that she had already been enjoying a glass of wine and that the flowers were BEAUTIFUL! Thank you SO very much for taking care of my dear friend and doing such an exceptional job of it! I wish I could give you 10 stars!!!
