Just so many different things that you can spend a whole heap of tie inside. All the items are made by Maine artists and craft people and the variety and all of the interesting colors, shapes and uses of the different items is impressive. Just about every type of cute, funny or sentimental crafty things can be found somewhere inside. Things out of wood, cloth, stone and paper. it's all here. Toys, clothing, garden ornaments, photos, drawings, animal stuff, holiday things, furniture, decorations and lots of cool items that exist for no reason other than to look nice. A wonderful store that is especially great around the holidays. Definitely not a tacky tourist store although some cool souvenirs can be found here. Everyone was so kind and inviting. We were giving a little history lesson, and spoke about a few more things, then sent on our way to explore and read each exhibit. Both upstairs and downstairs there is a lot of information to digest. Everything was dry well put together. While this is free, there is a donation box available.

Located in the Elizabeth Reed house, a beautiful old Victorian built in 1874, the museum contains multitude of interesting items. The numerous large rooms have period furniture, lovely paintings, old clothes, thousands and thousands of photographs, original newspapers, books and great old maps. There is a place to research genealogy records and even an orignal Fresnel Lens from a now extinct lighthouse from the area. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and even though we were visiting in a frigid part of January, seemed to enjoy our company and made us feel comfortable. The society also gives various lectures and programs during different times of the year. The historical Society and museum is a fantastic place to visit to learn anything you could possible what to know about the region.

We were warmly welcomed, and graciously thanked for attending. It was like going home to family, not a stiff cold theater at all! The inside has been extensively renovated and is BEAUTIFUL! When you purchase a drink at the bar, it comes in a reusable, lidded cup. Please save this!!! You save $1 on drinks the next time you come! I loved learning the history of this historic building. Can't wait to be back for another event.

December 5th was the last Gardiner Art Walk for this year. It was a balmy 8° outside, the coldest…read morenight so far. But the smell of homemade meatballs lured me into the gallery! Yes. Meatballs. Alan Claude studio always has fabulous food for art walk night, tonight was meatballs and tiramisu. Delish!!!! I looked through the 8x10 prints to find some winter scenes to bring home. But did get a little overwhelmed by the amount people sharing the gallery and shop space and had to duck out. But! He always runs a really good sale for the 8x10s, where you can pick three for one set price. So I've made my list, I'm checking it twice and I'm sending my Santa back to pick them up. Nobody how busy the gallery is, Alan himself ALWAYS makes a point to greet every single person that steps in the door. He's also happy to take photos and sign art!
