We didn't originally plan to stop at Puka Beach but it was part of a land tour. The two immediate things I noticed were how windy it was(I hear it's the norm for that side of the island) and it'd be a blast if you wanted to swim with the waves. The waves were big and plentiful on this side of the island. Walking up and from the beach, there are dozens of vendors ready to sell you smoothies, other desserts, food, and souvenirs. It wasn't as crowded as other beaches on the island. It'd be a great place to watch the sunrise. On the beach itself were quite a few sit-down places to eat. Our guide was back at the trike waiting for us else I might've invited him and we would've had lunch together. Although it's part of it, I still felt weird taking too much time with someone waiting. Next time, I'm going to fit Puka into the plans and head back to see what kind of food I can devour. One end of the beach also has what appears to be a place where you can either rent boats or have someone take you. There are a couple of places around the island that you can only get to by water. I believe that was one of the places. It's near the north end of the beach. I'd say it's unique but a must-visit? I don't think it's a must-visit. If you're trying to relax on the beach and have different scenery than the other beaches around the island, make it a stop. Otherwise, it's kind of just for eating and photo opportunities.

It's an escape from the busy hustle of life and you forget about the worries. This paradise with white sand beaches and busy slew of people coming in and out of the island can also be a strain for this place. Although they charge fees to keep this island in clean and tiptop shape, there are still people that does not know how to clean up after themselves. It turned me off when used diapers and trash floated in the water. Yuck! As this place were big tourist spot, we we're always approached by people selling their business, day tours and restaurant offerings. It can be such an annoyance when you turn them away and yet, they'll still follow you to see if you change your mind. With that in mind, it was a beautiful vacation nonetheless and I'm glad I got to experience this island.

Magandang araw!…read more After reviewing all the individual places in Boracay, it's finally time to review the island as a whole. I do miss this place. We have plans to visit other islands when we're back but I feel like we'll have future visits to Boracay. I have two worries about Boracay; One is all the new developments going up on the north side of the island. Some could call it the rich people enclave... I call it the people without personalities in any substantial form enclave. Those developments will surely make it much more expensive and unbearable with tourists but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The other worry(and I haven't looked for an update in a while) but there was strong support/plans for a bridge between the islands. Part of the fun of Boracay is flying to the big island, trike to the boats, and then sailing to Boracay. With a stupid ugly bridge there, that's going to take away some of the experience along with make it more accessible. Aside from those two things, Boracay is an amazing place if there ever was one. I miss it daily. You could easily find yourself visiting, staying, and just never coming home. Plenty of restaurants(on the beach and inland). Plenty of beaches. Plenty of things to do. Also, plenty of things not to do because relaxation is top tier. And... it is the place of my proposal, so it'll hold a special place because of that. That's all for now. If you want my opinion on all the other places there, read the reviews. If you find yourself in that part of the world, this is one of the many places to visit.

Unlike the main island jetty port(see last review), this one hits you with all the relaxation that…read moreyou're going to experience while in Boracay. Disembarking from the boat and walking up the dock, it's apparent that you're going to have a good stay. As mentioned in the other review: If you've arranged an overpriced shuttle, your hotel will be there waiting for you. If not, just walk up the dock... there will be no less than 10 trikes with drivers waiting for you. To add to the relaxation, all the trikes are electric on the island. No noise. No pollution. Perfect. Boracay itself isn't the largest island. When catching a trike here, it'll take you 20 minutes tops to make it to your hotel unless you go all the way to the north side of the island(Where the gross rich people vacation; I said what I said). I'll get into that in another review but it's bizarre to venture to the north side of the island, pay 400+/night, and be sooooooo far away from literally everything on the island. On the return trip, you'll also go through this jetty port. You'll pay for the boat ticket and we were able to pay for a trike driver in advance(they give you a sticker to give to any trike driver) to take us back to the airport once leaving the boat.

They really know how to greet you in Boracay. We got off our tender of Holland America's MS…read moreWesterdam and when we touched down at the jetty, they had drummers and dancers ready to greet us as we walked off the boat. Then people put free souvenir necklaces made with wooden beads and ribbons around your neck. What a greeting! Next we saw a money changer and that was perfect. I checked the rates and they were off by one peso. What value! That was enough to get some pesos for both the shuttle ride into town and to buy souvenirs on the beach along with some drinks and food. Get to the street and there's a company offering you a shuttle ride for 150 pesos round trip. Take that ride my friends, because it's a steal. You may be tempted to walk to the beach, but it's a longer walk than you'd expect it, you'll be exposed to mosquitoes and some of the seedier characters hanging out in town, and if you only have six hours in town like we did before the cruise ship leaves, you'll appreciate not wasting an hour walking to the beach. Please don't pay your cruise company for a beach transfer. You'll pay $70 for that transfer when you can pay 150 pesos (less than $3 USD). And if you want a more personal ride than a shuttle, get a ride from a trike which I imagine is just as cheap. On the way back you will again see a band waiting to see you off to your cruise ship. Thank you Boracay for being so welcoming. Every time I come to this town, I am convinced more and more that this is one of the most wonderful tourist places to visit in the world.

Caticlan Jetty Port is exactly what you expect--and honestly, it gets the job done…read more This is the main gateway to Boracay, so be prepared for a bit of a process: multiple lines, different fees (environmental, terminal, boat), and a decent amount of foot traffic. It can feel a little chaotic at first, but overall it's organized and moves fairly efficiently considering the volume of people passing through. The boat ride itself is quick--about 10-15 minutes--and once you're on, everything feels smooth. Staff were generally helpful in directing where to go, especially if it's your first time navigating the system. Bring cash and a little patience. It's not the most seamless experience, but it's all part of getting to Boracay--and once you arrive, it's 100% worth it.

First thing; You can organize a shuttle ride(We didn't) through your Boracay hotel. For most…read morepeople, this might be the way to go because from the airport - to this Jetty Port - to Boracay... I'd imagine for most it'll be a chaotic experience. The downfall of organizing through your hotel is that it adds an unnecessary expense(Think a few dollars per person versus 20-60 usd per person depending on your hotel) Most in the Philippines speak English so you should be good but if you have a Filipino friend, fiance, or wife you're traveling with, even better! If you aren't used to the public transportation life of the Philippines, organizing a shuttle might be ideal. Our experience? When we walked out of the airport, there was a stand to request a trike ride to this jetty port. Upon arrival, you need to find a place to pay for a boat ticket along with the environmental fee. Add in that you have to wheel your bag around the terminal/load it on the boat/etc(arranging a shuttle... they take care of most of that for you). I'd still suggest not going the shuttle/hotel route if you have any sense of adventure in you. You can certainly figure things out and save some money for more play/food while visiting Boracay. The last thing I want to mention is the return trip. There are quite a few flights that are scheduled for 7-9 AM departure. - Since you have to wake up - Check out of your hotel - Find a trike to the Boracay jetty port - Pay for the ride back from this Jetty Port to the airport(pay in advance) - Take the boat back - Check in to the airport - etc... this can cause a super early wakeup time. All in all, it took about 1.5 hours to make it from the hotel back to the airport early in the morning. I mentioned it before but if you're not doing the shuttle thing, you need to pay for a trike in advance at the Boracay jetty port. They give you a sticker. When you reach the main island jetty port... getting off the boat you're met by dozens of trike drivers talking to you. Show one the sticker and they'll get you to where you need to go(the airport). All of that chaos is part of getting to Boracay whether by shuttle or on your own. Give yourself plenty of time and try to do a little research in advance; You'll be fine.

Great experience at Welcome Center, Henann Group of Resorts. Once we arrived at the Welcome Center, we checked in with the lady at the podium and from there we were lead to the shore to board the speedboat that brought us to Boracay. From there, another van private transportation brought us to one of the Henann Resorts.

This is the stop from the airport to take the boat to the stations. It's a really quick trip from…read morethe airport. The actual boat ride to the resort is pretty fast too. You'll spend more time waiting to board the boat. The waiting area is fairly large with plenty of couches and very breezy.

Godofredo P Ramos Airport is small yet functional. It's clean and has plenty of seats available for passengers waiting to depart. The airport staff we came across are excellent. From the officers at security screening to the airline check in counter. They were very friendly and professional. Construction is taking place at the airport. They are building and making extensions along with renovations. Hopefully when we fly in and out of Godofredo P Ramos Aiport in a couple months construction and the new buildings will be complete and done.

The departures side of the airport has one gate where you will need to wait to board a bus to transfer you to your airplane. In fact, their airport tower control will only give bus clearance to move passengers/luggage to their plane only when the runway is cleared. Food options from the departures side are minimal. I think I saw a stall selling potato fries and another stall selling sandwiches and pastas. Sidebar - If arriving from the airport to your hotel/hostel/or Airbnb, there are several ways to get to Boracay. You will need to board a bus/tricycle (tuk-tuk)/or private car to take you to the ferry and from there you await to board a 10-minute ferry ride to the actual island. It's best if you already have this pre planned. For me, I was able to coordinate with my hotel (Henann) from arrival, board their hotel shuttle to their hotel ferry and then it's another bus shuttle to my resort. I don't like dealing with the hassle of figuring out (the day of) how to get there DIY. I'm wasting precious vacation time. I've traveled for some hours now and I'm simply tired. Just get me to my destination with some A/C and comfort! LoL. Thankfully there are plans for airport expansion and I'm quoting this off of Wikipedia. I found out the hard way that many online adventure tour vendors and locals re-book them and charge you double or triple the price of what you will pay on Boracay. You can go to their website directory or better yet walk down to Station 1 on White beach and get discounted prices on anything you want to do on Boracay.

There was a day where people were out doing things on the water and then there was a day where it was empty. Before visiting, I watched a video where folks said it's windier on this side of the island. That was true while I was there; Probably the winds blowing in from the Pacific. It was noticeably more windy. We wanted to make a sunrise on this side of the island but the sun comes up soooooo early in the Philippines that we didn't fit it in. During our visits to this beach, we didn't stay too long. There are trees but the shade is minimal on this beach. It's worth a visit. It's less crowded. More waves for surfing. Some of the Instagram-famous palm trees are on this side of the island.

Boracay has more than one beach, this beaches are less popular than White beach because you have…read morefewer if any hotels, activities, and restaurants on this side, of the island opposite White Beach. them, and unless you know the shortcuts you have to travel the permitter of the island to get to here. The beach may not have the powdery sand of White Beach but still it is very beautiful with all the kite surfers, they are all here due to regulations that keep them off the other beaches. The inland tour guides also use the famous slanted coconut tree as a photo opp. I was here for about 30 minutes only just to get my photo on the coconut tree before I was off to another beach on another part of the island. If you want to get away from the main beach which can be sometimes get like Time Square this is a good spot.
