This tour was one of the highlights of our Southern road trip through 7 states. Swamp Tours of Arcadiana represents an incredible value, especially if you are traveling as a family. For the same price as one of the large tourist boats, we received a private tour, tailored just for our family. Lake Martin is gorgeous, especially at twilight and we saw no other tourists the entire time, only locals. We felt like much more than a simple swamp tour, we really experienced nature and learned much about local culture. Booking with Ashley was easy, she was very flexible concerning dates and times. I would recommend contacting her by facebook messenger, we got a quick response that way. Ashley gave us precise directions to our alternate meeting point, since the regular boat launch was closed due to covid. We had no problems finding the place and our car was parked safely off the road. Bryce, Ashley's husband, met us on time. Bryce is so friendly, he made us feel welcome and comfortable right away. His boat is small but feels indestructible. We felt safe with him the entire time. Our tour lasted for more than 2 hours and took us all around Lake Martin, through the swamp and past fields of water lilies. We learned so much about the local plants and animals and saw many beautiful birds and lots of alligators. Including an 8 foot alligator that surfaced right next to our boat! Bryce has lived in the area his whole life and knows all of the fascinating corners of the lake. So many great photo opportunities! Besides birds and alligators, we saw fish rise out of the water, drove into a duck blind and experienced the largest spider webs imaginable. We experienced the most beautiful sunset. Bryce also told us many stories about living in Southern Louisiana and we came away from the experience feeling like we had made a friend. We also learned that you can eat just about everything that you see! He had a great way of relating to our teenage daughters and even introduced them to some of the local teenage boys that we came across fishing on the lake. We just had so much fun! Again, I can't recommend this tour enough, you will love it!

Highly recommend this tour for anybody who wants to see and learn a lot! Bruce was an amazing guide…read moreand makes the tour interesting with constant facts and jokes. You will get to see a lot of alligators and get a glimpse of the peacefulness in the lake.

Whitney was our guide and she was knowledgeable about the area and its people. She also told us a few funny jokes. Five locations were visited. 1. Ton's Drive In-Broussard. We sampled chicken and sausage gumbo with a small scoop of potato salad. Delicious. 2. Prejean's in Broussard. We sampled dirty grits and scallops. The sauce was a little on the salty side, but the dish was quite flavorful. 3. NuNu's in Youngsville. We sampled, link boudin, boudin balls, chicken patties, chicken crackling, and smoked sausage. Everything was delicious. We were gifted a 3 oz container of NuNu's Cajun seasoning. 4. Fezzo's Seafood, Steakhouse & Oyster Bar in Broussard. We sampled fried alligator with sauce and a char grilled oyster. Delicious. 5. Poupart Bakery, Inc in Lafayette. We sampled King Cake with pecan and cream cheese filling with a cup of Community Coffee. Yum. The perfect end to a tour of delicious foods enjoyed by locals everyday. This is an educational food tour that locals would absolutely benefit from. Whitney covered some history of Louisiana I'd certainly forgotten. This tour filled the 3 hours with delicious food, some humor lots of education and I highly recommend it for visitors and residents of Louisiana. Our group included guests from Louisiana, England and Ireland. We all enjoyed ourselves.

We couldn't have picked a better day to visit the area, the temperature was perfect with low humidity and no bugs - you must allow yourself plenty of time to soak in the peaceful surroundings and get out of your vehicle to get up close to the wonders of this garden. Besides the beautiful grounds and water structures there are plenty of surprises you'll discover along the way we unfortunately didn't see any alligators or deer today but there were an abundance of birds, a few turtles basking in the sun and lots of squirrels scurrying through the grounds and giant oak trees. This is a beautiful place and just one of the wonders you'll find while exploring Louisiana I've lived in Louisiana for almost half my life and I'm still amazed at the beauty this state has to offer this is just one of the many places that's preserved and protected for generations to enjoy and appreciate...

We saw lot of alligators. The bird city was neat too. You could hear the birds well before you could see them. At the park entrance there is a little gift shop too with snacks, drinks, bathrooms and souvenirs.
