I've moved across the country and between the US/Canada multiple times, this has been my worst experience. 1. The quote originally provide and reviewed did not clearly call out the extra cost of insurance which resulted in a surprise $300+ added to the bill at the end. I would have gone with another moving company if I had understood the full cost upfront. 2. We had trouble getting the moving truck into the pick up community, the driver went straight to telling me I would have to pay an extra fee because of it and when I called the representative he said he would look into it. Eventually we got the truck in and started the move but the representative never called back to check-in to see how things were going, understanding that the day did not get off to a positive start you would think he would check in again. 3. The representative told us there was no problem moving our 380lbs hot tub, when the truck driver got there he was not happy to find out he was moving a full-size hot tub and said he was told it was a blow up on. Very poor communication. 4. The truck driver insisted on taking apart all furniture, even pieces that were purchased already put together. We insisted on a few pieces of furniture not be taken apart, he only listen to some of it and still took apart others. 5. On arrival some of the furniture was put back together wrongly or not well and we had to reassemble. 6. On arrival pieces were missing from a TV stand, the driver said he either left them at a warehouse he was at the day before and if not he would replace the pieces for us. He ended up replacing some of the pieces but not all and when we requested he replace the rest of the missing pieces he stopped communicating with us. He did not write down the missing pieces on paper work because he did not want it to go on his record and I trusted he would stand by his word of replacing them but ultimately I was wrong and will never do that again. 7. We paid extra for two TVs to be packed for us, they did not get damaged but the packing was poor and not worth the money.

This company screwed me over royally. Stay far away. Atlas…read moreVan Lines and their agent, California Moving Systems, along with the contracted day laborers they hired (who are not actual Atlas or CMS employees), completely destroyed my belongings and my trust in the moving industry. I started the process optimistic, having been strongly referred to California Moving Systems by my realtor, Terri Chapman of Chapman Realty Group in El Dorado Hills, CA. Not only did both Atlas and California Moving Systems take zero responsibility for the damage they caused, but my own realtor -- after collecting her full commission and repeatedly pushing me to use this company -- completely abandoned me the moment problems surfaced. Her slogan, "I've got your back," now just conjures images of betrayal. She orchestrated the entire move, managed every detail, and then vanished right alongside Atlas and California Moving Systems when the disasters started piling up. My story is unfortunately not unique -- it mirrors the majority of the negative reviews already posted about these companies. The move cost me $34,000, and working with Atlas Van Lines and California Moving Systems was an absolute nightmare. They broke well over 120 items -- I literally lost count. Most shocking was how they managed to destroy a massive quartz rock that requires 2-3 grown men just to lift, pack, and move. Among the broken items: my $23,000 couch, my $2,000 Jensen Leisure Swing, yard art, nearly all my dishes and glassware, a shattered wood partition, and countless holiday decorations (Christmas and Halloween). The list goes on and on. They also lost items, including a lamp shade. Their so-called "guarantee" is completely meaningless. The customer service is nonexistent. Do not waste your money or your sanity on these companies. They are professional at one thing only: ruining people's possessions while disappearing when you need them most.

I came here because of the good reviews, so if you're wanting to come here because of that, too, you NEED to read this before making your decision!! This guy is so mean and disrespectful to women! ** I told him that there's a line of buttons on the back of my dress that I needed help buttoning up (since I came alone) and when I came out of the fitting room to get assistance, the first thing he said was, "Yikes. I feel sorry for your fiance because you decided to pick *THIS* dress" (Which, side note, my fiance was the one that picked it out, so I just brushed it off) Then he was making backhanded comments the entire time like, "I hope you aren't going to gain weight before the wedding" (Another side note, I'm 105 pounds on a heavy day. My dress is NOT tight on me. I shouldn't feel like I need to lose more weight. And I hope to GOD that he doesn't say things like that to someone with an eating disorder, someone battling depression, someone who gains weight due to birth control, someone who has been poked fun of their entire life about their weight, someone who's sensitive about her weight or literally anything regarding weight to another woman's face). THEN someone who came in before me just found out that she's 3 months pregnant and needed to come in to see what she could do to her dress and when she left, he said, "please promise me you aren't going to get pregnant before the wedding like she did. I don't know why she decided to do that." -- And that's when my heart SANK because I've been trying to have a kid for 5 years and we're battling infertility at the moment, so that comment WRECKED me. Having someone "hope" that I don't gain weight or get pregnant is absolutely DISGUSTING. A man should NEVER comment on a woman's weight, and even more so, shouldn't be talking bad about a paying customer to another paying customer. THEN, after only needing a hem, he proceeds to charge me almost $500! I was only there for 20 minutes and in that time, he managed to insult me and another customer behind her back. That speaks LOUD about how he is as a person. If you've ever been to him, just note that if he didn't talk bad to your face, he probably talked bad about you to someone else.. more than likely to another customer. This man is an absolute pig to women. I left sobbing. After I told my fiance what was said, he came in, ordered that I got a refund and left. Then and ONLY then, did I get a message apologizing so he could avoid getting a negative review. (I have screenshots if you want me to send them to you) This man told me he feels bad for my fiance because of my choice of dress, he told me he hopes I don't gain weight before the wedding, he told me to promise him that I won't get pregnant before the wedding, he talked bad about the pregnant bride that came in before me, he overcharged like CRAZY and he sent me a text begging me to forgive him so I wouldn't leave a a review on my experience. Please don't let your daughter, sister, fiance, niece, friend, or yourself be subjected to this man. He will ruin your once-in-a-lifetime experience.

When we came in early to set up for my grandfather's memorial service, they made sure to periodically check on us to see if we needed anything or if they could be of service. From when we set up to the time we left, they were always easy to locate to answer any questions we came up with, and their answers were always very thorough and kind. They are clearly all very compassionate people, and they were absolutely willing to go above and beyond for us. Never have I felt so cared about by complete strangers. They also seem to have thought of anything a family could possibly need during this time; they had extra picture frames, easels to prop up either photos or small momentos, as many magnetic boards and magnets for pictures (or whatever else one may wish to display) as anyone could ever need, they made a lovely slideshow for us that was displayed throughout the entirety of the visitation period (they also put all of these images into a Shutterfly-style photobook for us for a more concrete momento), beautiful built-ins to create a more homey display, plenty of tables and other surfaces for smaller displays, there are Kleenex boxes and trash cans all over the place, a separate kitchen area for food and beverages that are brought in, and even a kids room upstairs. What also really wowed me was the package they gave us after the service: They gave us a reuseable bag with a DVD copy of the slideshow; thank-you cards we can send to the guests; the check-in book everyone signed as they entered; a copy of the newspaper that printed my grandfather's obituary; the leftover programs; a folder with photos of all the floral arrangements that were sent, along with separate close-up photos of the cards that came with them; a list of all the food that was brought in and who provided it; an incredible folder with information on grief support groups, a phone number to call if you need help understanding how to handle things like notifying social security, veterans benefits, etc., and a checklist to help families remember everything they have to take care of when a loved one passes; and my favorite thing, which I had no idea we'd receive: a DVD copy of the service, which they recorded for us. The home itself is also in impeccable condition. It has clearly been recently remodeled. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, and every room down to the stalls in the bathroom are large enough to be handicap accessible. The only complaint my family had was that after the service, we were given a paper with a message written on it from a family member who had reached out. At first, I loved that they did this, but upon further inspection, it appeared that this message was left 4 days before the service was held. We really wished that they would have called us when they got the message, or at the very least, given it to is when we first arrived. Other than that small factor, this was the absolute most perfect memorial service I could have ever imagined for my grandfather thanks to Browning. From the bottom of our hearts, my family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the employees and owners of Browning Funeral Home. Without your kindness and preparedness, my grandfather's memorial service would not have been the beautiful event that it was. Thank you.
