You should literally go to any other dental practice!…read more In my experience, the quality of care is average to poor - I've had to pester the office over a period of multiple weeks stretching to months to get new clear aligners after the dentist was unhappy with the initial results. If you don't pester, you'll just never hear back...After my last treatment, the dentist needed to do "research" to find a product that could help him finish polishing my wax up and promised to follow up once they had the product. That was August of 2025! Still no word. Perhaps worse, I've experienced the office staff at The Lounge pressuring my dental hygienist to upsell me on various products like an oral detox (which is manufactured by a company that is also owned by Dr. Moldovan). This would be bad enough to warrant a warning to stay away but the office staff is truly abysmal. I've experienced promises that they would submit insurance forms that they never seem to submit (at least according to the insurance company) and have had to send 10 email requests just to get a "super bill" so that I can submit to the insurance company myself. Amazingly, Dr. Moldovan refuses to have a conversation about the quality of her staff and the service level they provide. Instead she seems to prefer to tell her staff to quote her as saying, " I will not discuss the dental insurance with our patients, for this has never been my speciality, this is my practice and insurance is not accepted as payment, I am a periodontist trying to heal the world." I've never known another business owner to refuse a conversation with a customer because the topic "has never been my speciality". Again, you should literally go to any other dental practice!

By the time I saw him, I had consulted with several dentists, periodontists and orthodontists. In fact, some of my work (crown on my front tooth) was half way done when I first saw him. He was willing to take me in as his patent and saved me from some of the work that I didn't need. I had several crowns due to a root canals, and I had to get a mixture of veneers and crowns for 10 top teeth. The lab technicians that he uses are very skilled and their products are high quality. He first contoured my gum prior to the veneer/crown procedure. He did a wonderful job. Throughout the steps that I need to prepare for the 10 top veneers, he has been so positive and encouraging. Lastly, the dental staff (Sarit and Leslie) is amazing. Sarit is the one who assists Dr. Connelly. She's gentle and calming. She's a dentist herself and very knowledgeable. Leslie is present every time I call or email her. She was so friendly and warm. She always tries to accommodate me if I had any urgency. I was so thankful for the treatment that I received. I read Rhiannon S's review and decided to write my own, it might serve as a "note of concern" for…read moreanyone reading. I got my veneers done by Dr. Connelly about 5 years ago. They turned out pretty good--but only because I bypassed Dr. Connelly and visited the lab directly. This is because the temporary veneers he made honestly looked awful. Flat, unnaturally white, and no shape. I know its plastic and thats normal, but since I was going to be wearing the temps for 2-3 weeks, I wanted them to look better. I requested a change in the temps to make the front teeth slightly longer (like 1-2mm), to make it look like a normal smile design, which took a whole week to create. But once I got them fitted they looked way worse than the first, almost like horse teeth (i swear, just the front two teeth were 2-3 mm bigger than the rest). Straight up bugs bunny look..... When I asked if he genuinely thought they looked good, he said yes--so did his assistants. That was a super red flag to me. Doesn't matter how nice they seem, or their social media testimonials, you really don't know someone's expertise until you see it for yourself, and theres a wave of nervous concern when your sitting in a chair with sore, shaved teeth, wearing temporaries that look SO bad, and being told to your face "they look great". So I drove to the lab, which is in a different city, to see what the original plans for my veneers were. And yep, just as i thought, the original veneer plans Dr. Connelly gave was WAY to white and way too bulky for my mouth. I had to ensure with the lab technician that for the final design, all front teeth were 2-3 mm less than what was originally planned for (trust me, even a 1mm difference is BIG), and I also changed the white color BL2 to BL3 (honestly, i wish had gone to BL4 or lower). The person helping me decide these things also agreed with me that these original plans were definintely not aesthetically pleasing for me, and way too white. My gripe was that these are all things that should have been done at dentists office. Here's another thing: When you meet Dr. Connelly for a veneer consult, you will not be "customizing" much. He says he already has in mind what you are looking for, and says that he "knows whats best" on what your teeth will look like and what color. I'm sure if u tell him NO, i want THIS COLOR, he will do it for you. But because most people don't know what length, color, shape they want, you'd probably just go with his recommendation, not knowing what BL1, BL2, BL3 actually look like in real life. There's little collaborative design compared to other dentists. Just keep in mind, Dr. Connelly is a celebrity dentist in the heart of LA, working on celebrity's smiles, those are his real clients. So unless you want to have a "movie star" smile, where the teeth are really really white and u like that almost "fake" look, go for it. But if your a person who wants perfect looking teeth that also look very natural, I'd recommend seeing a different dentist who is more willing to work with you to customize your actual veneers in terms of length, color, fit, etc much more precisely. Dont look at videos and see "white" smiles and think they look great in real life. If they're noticeable on video, they're even more noticeable in-person. My regrets are 1. I went too white. Even BL4 is whiter than natural teeth. 2. I did too many veneers. I should've just done the front 4-6 only and color-matched them to the rest. You most definintely DO NOT need to do more, especially the bottom teeth, unless you have actual staining on your teeth. 3. I should've chosen a different dentist. Would've saved me a ton of money and stress. $5K per tooth is overkill. Pros: Office is very clean, staff is very nice and responsive. Dr Connelly is also nice and did not take away too much of my tooth structure. But this is my honest review

Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. During the consultation, I felt judged and talked down to for not having my wisdom teeth removed earlier. I was told that at 31, I was "old" for this procedure, and that complications would be higher because I hadn't done this when I was younger. This felt unnecessary and dismissive, my teeth had never caused issues before, and I had only ever been advised to remove them if they became a problem. I also felt that there was little acknowledgment that not everyone undergoes procedures like this early on, whether due to personal, medical, or financial reasons. The tone came across as more critical than informative. Paying to have all 4 teeth removed at once when you're young is not only unnecessarily traumatic, but it is EXPENSIVE. That is why my parents never had me do it at a young age. I was also told that I had to be put under anesthesia for the procedure. I explained that I had all my other wisdom teeth removed with only local anesthesia and was hoping to do the same. However, I was told that wouldn't be possible in my case. No clue why. Just sounded like he wanted to charge the extra that it would have cost and make some extra money. Uncomfortable with both the tone of the appointment and the insistence on general anesthesia, I decided to seek a second opinion. Another oral surgeon confirmed that general anesthesia was NOT required for this procedure and successfully removed the tooth using only local anesthesia. I have no major issues beyond the usual tartar buildup, cavities (level 1 last time I was in), and wisdom teeth woes that everyone struggles with. And yet nearly every single time I come into this office, they're trying to sell me something and push some unnecessary procedure on me that I didn't ask for. One day it's some sort of flouride trays you wear overnight because apparently my teeth are going to fall out of my head otherwise. Then some other time they want to file my teeth down and put crowns on them because I have a bit of mild permanent staining on my molars which I have had for years and told them I really don't care about. I don't work in television so no one is looking in my mouth like that. Just on and on constant catastrophes and making it seem like I am in some sort of imminent dental danger unless I do this very expensive thing to my teeth. And of course when you decline they huff and puff and start with the "well akshually" song and dance, and I try very hard to sit there and not argue with them because all I want is to get my teeth cleaned and go home. From my own observations, it seems that a lot of this behavior is a mixture of arrogance stemming from their overhyped, wealthy, but clueless clientele, one or two celebrity clients who probably get everything comped unlike us mere plebs, and simply pure, zip code snobbery. A lot of people are paying out of pocket, don't ask what they're paying for, but as long as you spin them a good story about how amazing something is and how it's going to give them Hulk teeth that can chomp dinosaur bones to bits, they don't really care and aren't interested. I mean that's fine for other people, but I've had bad experiences with dentists in the past trying to bleed me dry when they find out you're not broke so I have learned to question them when they tell you things - half of the stuff they recommend is not necessary unless you have really, really jacked up teeth. Which I don't. I also forgot to mention that one of their billers tried to get me to drop my excellent insurance plan with Delta Dental for something through Covered CA which would, of course, increase the amount of money they could charge me. Never saw her again after I called them out on this nonsense. Then after my last visit they lied YET AGAIN and said I only have two covered cleanings in a calendar year which is a bunch of bull - all cleanings are covered, so again the constant lying and gaslighting with them is insane. And the last time I came in, they had a TikTok streamer or whatever with his gold chains jangling and one of the hygienists standing in the lobby taking up all the oxygen yapping about their tens of hundreds of views and trading tips on how to viralmaxx their accounts. i know it's LA so everyone is almost famous, but no. I know people are reading this and probably wondering why I keep going back. The truth is I enjoy seeing them die a little inside every time I come in and refuse all their ridiculous $5000 treatment plans and basically walk out paying at most $100 or so for routine cleanings and fillings. They get so bitter when you come in with nice teeth; they'll literally stonewall you and pout and not speak to you or be friendly during your treatment, it's just hilarious to me to see them try to come up with some excuse to drill, saw, or cut into my mouth and I just simply tell them no lol. Thankfully I am moving abroad again in a few months so I don't have to deal with them ever again.
