This is a great little neighborhood garden center in Simsbury across from the Big Y on Hopmeadow Street. The neighborly service is second to none, and this place has just about everything to do with planting in your garden. Easy parking throughout this little strip mall plaza. Drove 40 min to check out their indoor plant variety (very scarce btw) and decided to buy a planter and 2 mini terracotta planters. The total came up to $9.11 at which point she said $10 minimum on credit cards. So I put it down and walked out. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Just wanted to take a minute to say how impressed I was with this place. I couldn't be home for my mother's birthday due to Covid so everything had to be managed over the phone when I wanted to put together some perennials for a birthday surprise. The young woman, (Courtney), who patiently helped me choose items from their wide and varied selection, did an awesome job working within my budget. She was on the phone with me three times throughout the course of 90 minutes or more (while managing other customers in store) as I asked many questions about what was in stock and what colors were available and how she could make a pretty package. I can't wait to order some plants for myself now as well. (See the photo below of the perennial arrangement of Lupins and a Clematis that I got my mom.) Rude, unprofessional, staff and overpriced under satisfactory items. Very unhelpful on the phone so decided to go elsewhere.

We stopped into Harvest for breakfast but there was a wait. We've been working on a garden and thought we'd stop in and see what they had. We bought a "Topsy Turvey" and needed a tomato plant. We ended up chatting with two employees who were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We ended up with a bunch of plant seedlings, three bags of soil, one bag of top soil and some tomato plants. We had to go back to the loading area for the soil where an employee loaded the soil and answered a bunch of our questions. This is our first garden and I'm convinced we'll be all set from the advice we got from Bosco's. PS the gift shop is closing and everything is on sale. The garden center is not! read more

While I was using my propane generator for the last 3 days I needed refills for my tanks. I was delighted that Bosco's had that service. I was able to call and pay with phone. I was met in the parking space and the tanks were filled and returned into my car within a few minutes. Great service on phone and at the site. It is my new go to for propane refills. I have also had great experience with the fall sales that have started already! I will be looking for special deals there in the next few weeks. read more

You can't go wrong with this business. From the moment we arrived, you could see the staff working independently and diligently. They were friendly knowledgeable about all things lawn/garden related. I live locally, and have shopped at Bosco's the past twenty years. Although smaller than some nurseries, they always carry a good selection of plants, and definitely have an emphasis on native plants known to do well in this area. They always approach me with an offer of assistance, but are not pushy if (as often I am) I 'm just browsing to get ideas. Never had anything I bought there have problems, everything has flourished. They also are our go to for tools, chemicals-fertilizer, weed killer etc. Their prices are some of the most reasonable I've seen. I literally go everywhere in the spring, fall (great time to plant), and even mid summer, so I know all the competition. Each has something to offer, and Bosco's will continue to be on my list. read more

- Going Out Of Business: Good Riddance - A friend told me this place was going out of business, so while driving back from the holiday, traveling south on Rte 10, I stopped in. I had my dog with me and not wanting to leave her in my car (it was 75), I leashed her up and brought her to Bosco's *outside* open plant area. She's a small dog with no behavioral or attitude problems whatsoever. I saw two women in the *outside* open plant area also with dogs. I was looking at the over-priced stock for 15 seconds before a woman with abundant behavioral and attitude problems was upon us three dog people. Insultingly screeching, "NO DOGS ALLOWED!" It looked to me like the two women were taken aback, too. They picked their dogs up and scurried out of the open area. Nowhere did I (or they, obviously) see Bosco's No Dogs policy posted. Maybe they should change their slogan from "Gardening... It Makes Smiles Grow!" to "If you have a dog - any dog - do not dare bring it here!" Hey, I've been to 20, maybe 30 gardens centers' outdoor plants areas in CT, Mass, VT and NH with my dogs over the years. And not one told me "NO DOGS!" They have been wonderful every time I've shopped there, but today they went above and beyond. I needed flowers for my window boxes but I couldn't shop in person. They (Katie) put together a lovely selection of annuals for me and conducted the entire transaction over the phone. My plants were waiting curbside when I arrived. My flowers are beautiful and I'm so grateful I didn't have to risk my family's health to have a garden this year. Would highly recommend. read more

My wife bought two Rhododendron plants a couple of weeks ago and after that time while remaining in the pots, one is dying. Both plants where left outside beside each other while we are prepping the area with additional landscaping and when we noticed the one was dropping slightly. We watered it and yet it did not come back. So my wife took the plants back to find out why. The owner who became very combative with her and talked in circles as to why one had root rot and the other one didn't. Remember it's only two weeks that we have had them; while for months they normally stay on their lot in pots. We have "many" Rhododendrons in our yard, as they are extremely hardy plants. The fact is the owner will not stand behind his plants; and ultimately showed extremely poor customer service. It's the last time we will shop there. His notion of customer was "plant it in the ground and hope for the best." As there are so many Nurseries in the area, we will go to one that is friendly and truly stands behind their plants and what they sell. read more
