Don't do business with these people. Rude, immature, unprofessional, and unreliable. My experience lines up with some of the patterns seen in reviews on google and others that are (suspiciously?) hidden by Yelp. They canceled on me 18 hours before the job after 6 weeks of having them booked because I asked a question about payment preferences. They told me "this is getting complicated, I'll pass on the job" at 5pm the day before they were supposed to arrive at 8am. They also told me they "want happy customers" as their reason for canceling on me, and then used that to justify themselves for canceling when I communicated my disappointment at the end of the conversation and promised them that I would share it. They "knew my type." I implored them not to cancel - I'm a working mom with a new baby and a 2.5 year old and am living 60 miles from home while my house gets renovated, commuting back and forth for various commitments and waiting for things like this to get done so I can move back in. The renovation has been delayed (standard for these times of course)--which had led me to need to reschedule twice before, apparently something that pissed them off--and I really didn't want to have to spend the time to schedule someone else. No such luck, and they got even more rude. Before I booked with these people, I got several quotes that were much better value, and all three companies I spoke with other than Boston Bathtub were more professional and more helpful. I chose these guys because I wanted to support an independent business in my community. Retrospectively, I'm glad these people won't be entering my home or getting my $745 (and I'll be saving a couple hundred dollars, too!). I'm posting the entire text conversation here so anyone considering this business can see and judge for themselves. Mike is very professional from start to finish. He explained the process when I initially scheduled the appointment with him. When he showed up for the job, he was punctual. Paul came soon after to assist with the job. They did an amazing job. Prior to them leaving, we discussed how to care for the tub and sink and he also provided printed instructions on how to take care of the bathroom and how to extend the life of the bathtub/sink. Had a great experience. Paul showed up on time and did a nice job on my tub. He had to fix a bad job from a previous company. I had a small problem removing the masking yet the owner helped me and followed up with me the following day to be sure I was ok. We had our fiberglass tub/shower refinished by a hired professional (so we thought) awhile back. Unfortunately the work was terrible. Peeling occurred immediately. After a couple of return visits (at an additional cost!), the paint continued to peel. At this point we gave up. We lived with this ugly tub/shower for almost a year. Along came Mike and Boston Bathtub Resurfacing. Mike and Paul not only took the painstaking time to strip all of the shoddy work done by the previous contractor, but made sure the finished product was to our satisfaction. The finished product came out great. We thought refinishing was going to be a lost cause, but Mike and Paul did a fabulous job. They were very professional and even offered to return and recaulk. I chose this company through Home Advisor and spoke to other company's as well. I'm very happy with the results. It was a basic resurface of my tub but with a non-skid surface. The Tech was very friendly and informative prior to coming, I.e. How long it would take, the process, the cost. He was here for about 4 hours and arrived on time. Before he left he reviewed a document 'Caring For Your New Bathtub Surface' which I appreciated (no bleach!). I've already recommended them to someone else. Very stress free experience. read more

I've recommended Mike's service to other clients and he was fine. However, I had called Mike to come to refinish my own tub. The guy he sent was unprofessional & immature. I asked Paul (the worker) to please wear booties, that I provided when he was in my house. Instead he left without saying a word to me. Then Mike called after his guy left saying Paul couldn't do the work because he had to wear booties & there were too many workman in my house. There were 3 workers outside, not inside working painting & washing windows. I told him he didn't have to wear booties when doing the job but when he was walking on my expensive rugs. Very disappointing and wouldn't use his service again. Nor will I recommend to my clients as I'm a Realtor. I feel that Mike should have handled the situation with his worker better and been more respectful. I've never had a workman pushback about wearing booties, especially during COVID-19 or coming into my house. It's disrespectful & if I'm paying over $500 to have my bathtub re-surfanced I don't think that is an unrealistic request. And, I thought Mike was coming to do the job but when we spoke he told me he doesn't personally resurface bathtubs. I wished you had told me who you were sending. Poor communication too. read more

Very unprofessional from start to finish. Would never recommend this company to anyone. Ever. My appointment was rescheduled twice. When I went to pay for the job they told me cash only.. I had to drive to the bank and get cash..after this I was totally done. Oh but I wasn't because the paint was bubbling in one spot. Putting aside the drips in the corners and the overspray on my brand new tile the bubbles were addressed. Rescheduled 2 times, inclovieneved 3 times and unsatisfied.
