Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

I have to revise my previous review because the finish job has failed spectacularly. I originally had the job done in January of 2017. About 11 months later, roughly a month before the 1 year warranty ran out, I started noticing a small chip in the paint. I immediately called Nick, and even though the company had changed and he was working on his own, he stood behind his original work and came out to repair the chip. I wrote my review after that event, and I stand by what I said in that Nick is extremely professional, courteous and clean. That being said, after the repair was finished and he was gone, I noticed that the color of the repair job was more yellow than the original paint. It wasnt that noticeable so I didnt complain. Then, about 4 months ago, I noticed 2 more chips in the paint, one being in the repaired area. I figured since it was well out of the warranty, there wasnt much I could do. Since then, 4 more chips have occurred and when I was drying off the inside of the tub this morning after my son's bath, a huge piece of paint, fully half of one of the inside walls of the tub peeled off in one big piece. I have been extremely careful with the tub, we NEVER use abrasive cleaners, do not leave any wet cloths or anything in the tub, but still the paint has failed catastrophically and now I am stuck with no other alternatives than to re-finish the tub again. I am extremely disappointed with this result. Perhaps I am just expecting too much from a re-finish job, but I thought this paint was supposed to last a long time. There is no way I would want to have to re-finish this tub every 2 years. read more

First of all, make sure to book Nick early as his schedule fills up quickly. We moved into a new apartment recently, with some renovations we're working on starting with bathrooms. Rather than spend a ton, we decided a bathtub refinish would be better for us and more economical. We picked Superior Bathtub Refinishing because of the great reviews and honest advice he gives, and it's true. On appointment day Nick inspected our bathrooms, and recommended against doing a full refinish. He gave some DIY care and maintenance tips, and saved us money. This was especially considerate given that it meant a loss of time and money for this job, but shows he puts the customer's interest first. read more

Nick just completed the refinishing of our old cast-iron bathtub and it looks as good as new. He was on time, called to confirm the appointment the day before and was very conscientious throughout the work. He was done in about 2 hours and gave me some additional tips about how to keep it looking great, a different drain cover to use and cleaning tips to keep it looking like new. His price was excellent as well and he left the bathroom cleaner than when he arrived. Overall, just an excellent experience and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again or recommend him to all in need of this type of service. Nick was super friendly, responsive and professional from beginning to end. I was very lucky to get an appointment the week I called due to cancellation. He called me to let me know he was on his way and arrived on time. The quality of his work was excellent and very clean. Nick thoroughly covered his work area with sheets for cleanliness and installed a temporary vent in one of the windows to mitigate the smell. He completed the tub glazing in about an hour and a half and gave me great tips on which cleaning products to use. I would definitely recommend using his services!!!! read more

Based on some great reviews, we contacted Nicholas Coletti to refinish our bathtub. He gave us an estimate over the phone, which was very reasonable. He showed up on time and assessed the condition of the tub. He explained to us that the tub did not need to be fully refinished. It just needed a real good polishing and treatment. He did the job in less than half the time and much less than the original estimate. The tub looks fantastic! He did a great job and it is refreshing to know he is extremely honest! So this company is excellent for sure. Nick, the technician, is thorough and thoughtful. I mean that as we were afraid that the tub might be slippery so for an extra "few" dollars which was more than generous, Nick put some extra sand in the mixture. Other companies would have charged much more to do that extra work but not this company. Nick came over today to refinish my bathroom shower. He was going to refinish in a Bisque color, but when he looked at my shower he said it was discolored due to soap scum. He said there was no need to refinish. He cleaned all the soap scum for the shower stall and it looks like new. Don't do business with these people. Rude, immature, unprofessional, and unreliable. They canceled on me 18 hours before the job after 6 weeks of having them booked because I asked a question about payment preferences. They told me "this is getting complicated, I'll pass on the job" at 5pm the day before they were supposed to arrive at 8am. They also told me they "want happy customers" as their reason for canceling on me, and then used that to justify themselves for canceling when I communicated my disappointment at the end of the conversation and promised them that I would share it. They "knew my type." I implored them not to cancel - I'm a working mom with a new baby and a 2.5 year old and am living 60 miles from home while my house gets renovated, commuting back and forth for various commitments and waiting for things like this to get done so I can move back in. The renovation has been delayed (standard for these times of course)--which had led me to need to reschedule twice before, apparently something that pissed them off--and I really didn't want to have to spend the time to schedule someone else. No such luck, and they got even more rude. Before I booked with these people, I got several quotes that were much better value, and all three companies I spoke with other than Boston Bathtub were more professional and more helpful. I chose these guys because I wanted to support an independent business in my community. Retrospectively, I'm glad these people won't be entering my home or getting my $745 (and I'll be saving a couple hundred dollars, too!). I'm posting the entire text conversation here so anyone considering this business can see and judge for themselves. I'm evening going to leave the part at the end where I get mad and stoop to their level with some snarky comments, in hopes of making clear that I'm only going for transparency here.

When Tao first came by for a free estimate, he had great suggestions to make the space look larger and more open. We wanted to try to match the existing hardwood floors we already had as much as possible. Tao immediately knew what kind of floors to use and he even had samples on hand so that I could compare them with our current floors. Tao's estimate was very reasonable and comparable to other companies I reached out to. I went with Tao because of his background as a designer and I trusted he would make sure the floors look great! It ended up being a great decision because we are very happy with our new floors! The installation process was very smooth and even finished earlier than expected. The crew was very respectful of our home and did a great job keeping the house clean after their work was done. Any minor issues I found during installation were immediately remedied by the team without any issue. Overall, I would highly recommend reaching out to Tao for your next flooring project!

Tao stood out for how knowledgeable he was. First, he was clearly knowledgeable. Based on photos alone, he corrected me that the wood was not mahogany (as our home inspector said) but instead Brazilian cherry. I verified that he was correct with the listing agent. No other company did this. Second, he had the lowest quoted price for the job. Third, after I selected him, he was transparent about tradeoffs rather than purely trying to upsell me. For example, he quoted me on installing wood registers everywhere when I asked, but recommended I do so only in the hallways. This advice saved me $1k and delivered a result in very happy with. Finally, Tao was easily the most response person I interacted with. It was a pleasure to work with Tao, and I'm very happy with the outcome.
