August 12/2025: Grad dinner for Garrett…read more At first, I thought this LOOKED like a great sports bar. Lots of seating, tons of TV's & what appeared to be a decent menu. Then it shifted to screaming "CHEAP"! We sat at the bar as the hostess said the seating was full but it looked FAR from full. It also didn't fill up during the time we were there either. Then I looked closer & many things fell apart. The service was slow, the food was both mediocre and had super small portion size. The draft beer size LOOKED big but in reality it was more like a 12oz pint with a really big mug. It was Taco Tuesday. The Tacos were $3.49/taco, beef or chicken. They were a decent size but virtually tasteless & the meat on both was completely dried out completely. I ordered the house signature wings, xtra saucy ($18.99) for a Pound. They should have been embarrassed by what they turned out! They were exactly opposite to what the menu said. They were TINY & almost devoid of sauce! I'm unclear as to what the obstacle is for saucy wings!? All in all...this is definitely NOT a do over or a recommend.

Review of The Canadian Brewhouse - Kitchener Location…read more Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Poor/Inedible) Our recent experience at the Kitchener location was extremely disappointing, marked by logistical issues, slow service, and significant quality problems with the food. First Impressions & Seating Upon arrival, the entrance area was poorly managed. With a party of five, there was literally no space to stand while waiting, which created an immediate bottleneck and awkward experience for both our group and others entering/exiting. Service & Drinks Once seated, we ordered drinks promptly. While the Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, and water were fine, the Club Soda was noticeably flat. Our food order took an excessive 45 minutes to arrive, and only after our server proactively checked on the kitchen's status. Food Quality - Major Issues The most critical issue was the quality of the food across multiple dishes. It was unacceptable. Items ordered: Spicy Hickory Burger: WAY overcooked/burnt. The taste of char dominated the flavour. The accompanying fries were the only saving grace. Canadian Burgers with cheese and bacon: The burger itself was burnt, and the bacon was burnt crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy. Creamy Chicken Alfredo with mushrooms: Minimal chicken (only 1 sliver initially). When a replacement chicken breast was provided, it was burnt. Creamy Chicken Alfredo (no mushrooms): The pasta itself was mediocre ("meh"), but the portion of chicken was generous, receiving the fewest complaints from our party. Chorizo Mac and Cheese (new menu item): Inedible. The flavour was utterly appalling--metallic and burnt, tasting like "dirt sautéed in a dirty pan." I had to spit it out. The pasta also featured pieces of unmelted cheese, indicating poor preparation. We also signed up for the app (before we got our food) to get the free appetizer which was a cheesy garlic bread. We got it with marinara for take home. After you peel off the burned bacon and cheese layer, you're left with a decent pizza dough to dip in decent marinara. Conclusion The pervasive issue of burnt food (affecting three out of five entrées) and the truly inedible quality of the new Chorizo Mac and Cheese indicates a severe breakdown in the kitchen. Combined with the cramped waiting area and slow service, we cannot recommend this location and hope management addresses these fundamental quality control issues immediately. On the bright side, our waitress was nice. We will never eat here again.

The Canadian Brewhouse - Great food and excellent service, my first time to a Canadian Brewhouse - try the Donair, true Canadian cuisine! Will definitely be back.

My father and I attended the Galt View today for an early supper. Anyone from Cambridge already…read moreknows of the Galt View Restaurant (the one across the street from the hospital), but it's now under new ownership/management and while they were closed to renovations the past few months, not much has changed inside. This was the first I've been there since the changeover. It's a big restaurant and they have good food. Today we both had the banquet burger, and it was quite good. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was the best, but it was good. The menu is small, but it offers all the standard comfort food you'd expect from such a place. There were only two other parties dinning in the 40-plus table establishment, and as a result our server was attentive and the food was served quickly. I wonder how that might change if it were busy. I will say that our server was very cheerful and pleasant, which made it a nice experience. Then there was the mystery of the empty bowl. On our table was placed a small, white, ceramic bowl. It was the same as the bowl used to hold the sugar packets for coffee or tea, but this one was empty. I looked around and there was a small, white, empty bowl on every table. I was perplexed. I commented to my father that maybe it was a tip jar. He joked saying that it was empty, so maybe we should go elsewhere. As the meal wore on, I became increasingly worried about the meaning behind this empty bowl. Why was it there? Why a white bowl? Why not green, or brown, or whatever other colour is fashionable for bowls these days? What were we meant to do with it? Did it have a deeper existential meaning? Was it the owners symbolic commentary on the nature of the universe? A view thus imposed on the unsuspecting diner, most of whom would just think; "hey, an empty bowl." My head was spinning. I began to wonder if I was losing my mind. Imagine that, being brought to the brink of sanity (or is that insanity) by the presence of a small, empty, white, ceramic bowl. I again commented on the situation and my father insisted that it was there to hold creamers for those cups of coffee and tee, for which the sugar waited. I was dubious...it didn't make any sense. In the end, I declined to ask the waitress why there was an empty bowl on every table. I figured that the mystery had taken me places I hadn't dreamed possible, and whatever her answer, a mind cannot be un-blown, once it is blown. We gave her a good tip.
