When I first came in, I had worsening knee pain (~4/10) when I walked, and lower back pain (~5/10) when I sat. It wasn't fully bothersome, but enough for me to want to seriously do something about it before it gets worse. During my first visit, Dr. Nick took X-rays and explained his findings. I had minor hip and shoulder misalignments and moderately severe neck misalignment. He proceeded by giving options (i.e. phase 1, 2, 3...) but made it clear that these are "recommended guidelines" and the decision is entirely up to me. I decided to try out phase 1, which is 3 visits a week for I think ~18 sessions. I would make sure to verify if your insurance covers it. My insurance does not, so I was aware that it is coming out of my HSA. The adjustments are roughly 5-10minutes. Dr. Nick explained that the body will heal itself after being used to its adjusted posture. Asides from these adjustments, I also started running and stretching daily - I saw the adjustments as more of a supplement rather than a fix-all. I became conscious about my posture and was religiously making sure I stood up every 20-25minutes to stretch from my desk job. The pain decrease was gradual. My knee pain lingered daily but subsided slowly. At one point, my back pain disappeared and I notice myself sitting in a curved posture naturally. I still have minor knee pain, but it is equivalent to the pain I felt after a 1-mile run when I started to the pain I felt after a more recent 10-mile run. Today was my last day of phase 1. It was bittersweet to say that I didn't think phase 2 was necessary with the results which may differ per person. I'm not saying that Dr. Nick's practice was the main source of my improvements, but it definitely helped - especially since he is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does and could explain the intent of the procedures. His explanations are invaluable and I believe those are what will actually help long term - so I would ask a lot of questions if I were you! The people at LifeWorks (shout out to Jake at the reception!) are friendly and made me enjoy visiting often. I'll miss coming in as a part of my morning routine!

They're all very nice but "nice" only gets you so far. When I go to a chiropractor, I'm going for 2 reasons; 1. Relief; and 2. To get a LOT of questions answered; That's just how I am. When I go to any doctor, I want to know... 1. If the doctor can comprehend precisely what I'm going through; 2. How it got that way based on the info I gave him/her; and 3. What can be done about it; and 4. If it's truly rehab'-able, or if it's a forever maintenance kind of thing. I want someone who not only can answer my questions with an air of expertise, but who also WANTS to answer my questions and WANTS me to REALLY understand what s/he understands the path of healing/restoration that is available to me. Dr. Michael Pendolino is GUILTY of all of the above. First, his reception Lisa is, how do I put this?, kind of like a big sister/young mother. She's very sharp, great with details and sorta thinks to remind you of everything you need to know in case you forget it. Which is good because I can lose my socks on my way from the bedroom to the kitchen. Dr Pendolino has a very sharp, engaging mind. You can tell, without a doubt, that he's extremely knowledgeable and exceptionally passionate about his work. To-date, I have only done spinal decompression here. If you don't know what it is, Google it, but it's a fairly recent, proven therapy that helps restore healthy disk function. So, if you have collapsed and/or bulging disks, or pinched nerves, etc, a few pulls on this Star-Trek looking thing and you start to notice some "interesting" relief. My head just wasn't ready to believe I felt better so quickly from a collapsed disk I'd had in my lower cervical. Spinal decompression is not covered by insurance and it can be a bit pricey but they have a financing company available and, even with a couple of credit blips, I was able to get credit instantly. Believe me, if your back/neck is hurting because of disk problems, this is totally worth it! I can't yet speak for his regular chiro mojo but, if you are suffering from back/neck problems, I strongly suggest you contact Dr. Pendolino and set up an appointment for a consultation with him. He'll answer all your questions to your complete satisfaction. There is also a phyiscal therapist and acupuncturist in the office, and a massage therapist coming soon.

I found him to be professional,…read moreknowledgeable, and extremely helpful as a medical advocate when I tore my ACL and needed extra guidance. However, I have had 10+ years to think about my experiences with Dr. Kum, which made me increasingly uncomfortable as a young 20-something woman in his care. At first, I appreciated that he wasn't afraid to really "get in there" with low back/glute massages. A lot of chiropractors and even masseuses will avoid the glutes (perhaps for good reason). However, it did feel a bit strange that this was happening in only my underwear and a thin gown, so I started wearing gym shorts for more coverage. I even asked my male boss, who was also a patient, if he experienced these intensive glute massages, and he said yes, but always over his shorts. But then there started being inner thigh massages that felt unnecessarily intimate and when I asked if it was really necessary, Dr. Kum responded that all muscles are linked and that this would be helpful for my low back issues. I believe he then asked if I would like him to avoid that area, and I said yes. At that point, I started to feel really uncomfortable and decided to stop seeing Dr. Kum because it just felt unnecessarily intrusive and inappropriate. As far as his adjustments, I always found them to be weak and unsatisfactory- he would have to try several times and often times it wouldn't release at all. His focus seemed to be much more heavily on massage, but in a way that didn't feel entirely appropriate for a chiropractor (and was a vastly different approach from Dr. Puri). Again, I've had 10+ years to think about how he made me feel, and as a now 41 year old woman with two daughters, I can undoubtedly say that the way he made me feel was not ok.

I've moved around the country quite a bit, so I've seen close to a dozen different chiropractors…read moreover the years. I would not recommend Dr. Kum, and I'll explain why. This is the only chiropractor I've ever seen who requires patients to change into a hospital gown top for every appointment, including basic adjustments. And it's a tissue thin gown, mind you. As an, ahem, shapely young woman, I felt unnecessarily exposed. The few times I saw the other chiropractor at this practice, he looked at me like I'd sprouted an extra head when I asked if I should change into the usual gown. Dr. Kum also sees patients in a large private room with the door closed. At first I appreciated the extra privacy, but I quickly became uncomfortable when he would set me up with a hot pack, laying on my back, and then sit at his desk for long stretches at a time, facing me while I was laying on the table. His back adjustments were fine, but his neck adjustments were unpleasant. He would pull, it wouldn't give, he'd say "sorry," and then this would repeat for 5-10 rounds. It felt like he was merely tugging and yanking at my neck muscles, and I never got the relief I've known from neck adjustments from other chiropractors. The absolute worst part for me, and the reason for giving one star, is that he would make strange, borderline suggestive, comments, while doing my adjustments. I kept second-guessing myself, but when it kept happening, I finally had enough and never went back. I've never experienced anything like it in a doctor's office. :(

You felt like part of a family. Staff knew you were in pain, and they shared the same kindness, patience and understanding. Things have been very different since the staff turned over. The practice makes sure you are in and out as quickly as possible. You feel rushed. Doc says very little. His adjustments feel mechanical. He has no interest in having a conversation. He stopped listening. He goes through the motions and you're on your way. Staff is running the practice as if it's some kind of med spa. There pushing these different devices that are more like cosmetic treatments. And boy are they pushy, pacifically the one older woman on staff the billing clerk. Good luck with that one, especially if you are a female she will make sure you are rushed through your adjustment. If you aren't interested in the cosmetic procedures they're pushing as med spa treatments, expect to be treated poorly. This used to be a solid medical practice dedicated to caring for there patients. Now it feels like all Doc cares about is making money. Doc no longer cares about making people feel better. I expect more from someone who is treating me when I'm most vulnerable, when I am in pain and I am suffering. Just because I have been injured and can't afford fancy med spa treatments, I don't feel like staff should be looking down on me. We miss the old staff, and we miss the old Doc. It's a shame Doc is only interested in making money now. A once great medical practice has been ruined by vanity and greed.
