Despite being in the college hub, I don't think URI kids make up the majority of the students at Bend. I will make the journey to South County for Nicole Defelice & Isabella Sanderson, two instructors who teach regularly at Bend. Both primarily teach power vinyasa. Both play excellent music in the studio when they're teaching. Both are so joyful, challenging, & fun. Both are 2 of the best yoga instructors I've ever had the pleasure of practicing with. Nicole is a biologist & frequently weaves animal themes into her classes. She knows exactly how to explain micro-adjustments & motions that make the practice more accessible & enjoyable. I've unlocked advanced poses & maintained difficult arm balances thanks to Nicole's instructions. Isabella might be a sadist, but I say that in the most complimentary way possible. Her classes can be incredibly grueling, but if you stick with it, your endurance, strength, flexibility, & balance will improve immensely. Both Nicole & Isabella are the kinds of instructors you hope you're lucky enough to come across once in your lifetime. Somehow, Bend has secured them both. They're precious cargo. They also probably deserve a raise. Thank you, Nicole & Isabella, for nurturing my practice for years now. I never would've become the yogi I am now without the two of you. A note for the owner - I love the updates you've made to the studio over the last few years. My only humble suggestion is to put different lighting in the lobby/common areas. The fluorescents are painful.

Such a beautiful new space with lots of silks (so you don't have to wait long for your turn even in a bigger class) and lots more class times. I love the artwork she had painted on the wall. It makes a great backdrop for pictures! I showed my boyfriend a picture from my first class back and he said, "WHOA, it looks like you're doing some kind of kung fu!" Classes with Amanda have always been great. She's an experienced teacher and she can teach you skills fast - you'll be up in the air before you know it. It's not easy and not for the faint of heart, but boy is it fun. And it makes you super strong. There are adult class for beginners, intermediate, and advanced, every night of the week. My friends always ask if this is like the aerial yoga they have in Cranston, and I tell them "not really!" Aerial yoga is basically the bastard child of yoga and aerial silks. I love yoga, and I love silks, but so far I haven't tried to combine them. If you want the REAL aerial experience, if you want to actually get up high in the air, this is the place to come! They're offering free trial classes for the month of February at the new East Greenwich facility, so there's no reason not to try it. At least you can say that you tried it once! But look out, it's addicting....

I love her style of teaching/coaching. Every time I leave I walk away feeling completely empowered and eager for my next lesson. There's plenty of other times to go that should fit anyone's busy schedule. All instructors are friendly & outgoing with challenging classes. They switch up classes so it's not the same routine each time. I always feel like I've gotten my ass kicked (in a good way) every class! Their schedule is on the Mindbody app. & they have great seminars almost monthly. If you're into yoga or want to try something new they offer a discounted price for new members so check them out.

That class alone has encouraged me to increase my weights significantly and the difference it's making in my strength level is notable. The place is so clean and inviting, and the boutique is top notch. I even find shirts there that are suitable for work events! Her studio advertised 'Yoga on the Beach'. Even though I have been an aspiring yogi for many years, I had never done yoga on the beach before and have always wanted to do that! So,I got up early one morning and headed out to the beach on a rather hot morning. Gina greeted me with an enthusiastic and friendly welcome, told me how to position myself for the best breezes, and was just so kind and perky.
