Accidently doubled my order. Got a call from a very nice guy clarifying if I wanted a double order. I said no. Received one order, billed for two. They say they refunded my money but my bank shows otherwise. Nice store , nice people, but don't order online!!!!!! So heres the scam they play! They post the purchase at 2 different amounts! So the bank sees 2 different purchases! Screw you Bottle King. Never again. You beat me out of 67.00. Good on ya. Lesson learned. So I work near here and I'm so glad I do ! Super easy to grab a bottle of wine for after work, or as a gift etc. this location is big, has plenty of parking, and a great selection of drinks and accessories. They always have cheese and crackers out to sample and pair with the wines. My last visit I grabbed a great insulated wine bag that has come in handy. They ALWAYS have what I'm looking for wether it's for me or for a gift. I say if you need wine, beer, alcohol or accessories you this is a great location. We come here all the time - I'm huge fan! They are a smaller location, but they have everything we need (whether we need some sippers for the weekend or stocking up for a party). Recently, we discovered Press sparkling seltzers and this is the ONLY place nearby that has them. They also have a great selection of accompaniments (cheeses, chocolates, snacks) as well as gift bags and glasses to complete a "wine basket" gift if you're making one. Bottle King is a NJ regional chain and what a chain it is. They may rightfully earn the title King of Bottles since their selection of beer, wine and alcohol is tops. I've been to the location in Chatham (not as large) and this locale in Morris Plains and can say that I'm impressed. Upon entering I was surprised to see a large cheese section along with a pretty expansive gourmet goods selection; not grocery store status, but a nice little corner of the store. You gotta feel it when stores have a few options like this, making it a one-stop-shop to pick up just a few items. I went in and picked up beer for an event. Prices are definitely competitive here. On sale and with the Bottle King club card, a case of Mexican beer at $20 wasn't so bad. They literally had every type of craft beer available in the woooorrrlllldddd. Event some more rare stuff, although most of the more rare beer was not available cold. There was ample staffing and they were helpful. Score. This is a very nice liquor store here in Northern New Jersey. The manager Brad is quite knowledgeable in whiskey selection. His recommendation First bottling Balvenie scotch whiskey at $75 was very good. It was much better than my normal $55 Balvenie scotch whiskey:-) The only caveat is that to get to the store you must run a obstacle course of entering only from a single entrance and try not get your car bumper destroyed by the high curbs! I joked with the clerk that it was especially designed to prevent people who are inebriated from coming in to buy more liquor! ;-) read more

This was my second time shopping at bottle king. The store was a little hectic but I found everything I needed. The Tiny girl with the afro never disappoints! She was very informative about juggernaut, my friend loves it! She was VERY sweet not only was she sweet and helpful but she was so fast! By the time i was done paying everything was boxed up! What makes a liquor store stand out from the many, many other options in the area? The people that work there. Today, I went in Bottle King on the verge of freaking out. I wanted to buy my father a bottle of Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost (the Game of Thrones House Stark Scotch whisky), but of course I procrastinated, and it's sold out in a number of places. Those other places basically said "what you see on the shelf is what we have," and they didn't suggest alternatives or offer any other guidance. While staring at the shelf in Bottle King, I assumed I struck out again; there wasn't any on the shelf. I did happen to look up above the display and see a box that looked like the Dalwhinnie box, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I found an employee named Cliff, and I asked him for assistance. I told him I didn't see any on the shelf, and he said they were probably sold out, but he still offered to help me look. When he confirmed apologetically that there were none on the shelf, I pointed out the box up top. He said he would certainly check it out, and he would be back with a ladder. Cliff not only had to get a ladder, he also had to move a bunch of boxes around to get to the one I wanted. He opened it up and, much to my great joy, confirmed it was full of House Stark bottles! He handed me one, and it was like getting a present from Santa himself. As happy as I was about the Scotch, it was also refreshing to encounter a person who was willing to go above and beyond to help a customer--and doing so with a smile. Every single time I go in here I find a little gem...either a sale item, a great beer, or a great bottle of wine. I've stopped in here on numerous occasions and walked out with a cart full of wine and beer...and it's always cheaper than most of the other liquor stores I frequent. What I really like is that they usually have a great selection of micro brews. 've also found the staff pretty helpful-especially the guys who work over in the wine areas... Great prices, great selection and good staff. I do believe in supporting your local stores however when it comes to booze, I prefer going to BK. I suggest loading up on wine, especially if it's on sale because you can never have too much vino. When I used to go back in the day when I worked in the area, we used to go here for sandwiches...yes sandwiches. They were actually very good and moderately priced. The most recent time I was on a short time limit so I didn't have a chance to pay attention or walk around. Check out was a breeze. This is for the Bottle King in Morris Plains. Not the biggest of the bottle kings I've been to but they have a great selection and also sometimes out samples of their food products out. We have been shopping at bottle king for years but we have been disappointed with the selection of wines recently. They aren't carrying as many of the well know brands we were useto buying. They do have very good prices and they have a big selection but not exactly the wines we were looking for. read more

Selection is good but their online ordering system doesn't work at all. It charges your credit card but doesn't give you an order number so not only do you not get any alcohol but then you have to call your bank and be on hold for 30 minutes. 2/5 stars. Get a new online ordering system. read more

This Bottle King does not only sell beer, liquor and spirits. Bottle King also offers sandwiches. I originally heard from colleagues that they had good sandwiches and one afternoon I decided to try them out. Since then I have been back on a couple of occasions. The sandwiches are very good. The store also offers a very good selection of wine. It's not your local liquor store. If you are in Parsippany / Morris Plains area, you may want to stop by and try out a sandwich on the "menu". Prices for beers and wines are significantly lower than the prices anywhere in the main 4 boroughs (no there are not 5). The hard alcohol is cheaper for specific brands. The prices for top brands like Grey Goose are about the same. They even have their own cheese section with recommended pairings (wine of course). Maybe I like this place because it is hard to find a place with such a wide selection anywhere in New York. It is rare to even find a liquor store that sells beer and wine/liquor in the same location. read more

Yay! Like previous reviewers have noted, they have a big selection of pretty much everything. The wines are organized by region, beers are in fridges in the back, and hard liquors occupy a wall of shelves on the side. If you join their Bottle King frequent buyers club or whatever (doesn't cost anything to join), you can get discounts when they have sales (which is all the time and the sales are pretty good). They carry quite a selection of moscato (my favorite wine) as well as ice wine (eiswein) and they have a new set up of "gourmet" beers and microbrews. They also have a cheese section if you need something to eat with your wine and they have an impressive selection of the tiny airplane-sized bottles of liquor. If you need a lighter, bottle opener, corkscrew, etc. they have those too (not the cheapest, but v. convenient). Sometimes lines are long and move slowly because the staff is mostly young-ish kids (in their late teens or early 20s) that like to socialize and waste time, but it's only a bother to me when I'm buying a lot of stuff (because liquids in glass bottles are heavy!). read more

Bottle king has got some of the best prices around as well as a great selection of wines and beer. I especially love the different types of beer they stock as some of them are difficult to find in mom & pop type liquor stores. I buy a lot of fine wines and I found that prices are best at Bottle King. I've visited many of the location in the area, all of them have plenty of parking with makes transporting heavy bottles from the register to the car. Make sure you become a member of their club for additional discounts. read more

I buy 300-400 bottles of wine per year. In the $8.50 - $15 category, this place is my favorite for their Vineyard Direct selections. If I want a great drinking Amarone or a $$$ Pauilliac I go elsewhere, but for everyday bottles this is hard to beat. read more

Had a strange experience checking out yesterday. We placed our 13 bottles of assorted wines & spirits on the check-out counter. After the cashier rang up our purchases, placed an empty wine box in front of my husband and then gave him the receipt, she walked away to empty what looked like a garbage bag that she had under her cash register. We stood around waiting for her to come back to put the wine bottles into the wine box. When she did come back after about a minute, she looked annoyed and surprised that we were still waiting around and asked my husband whether or not he still wanted the box. My husband then realized she wasn't going to put our wines into the box so he started putting them into the box. The cashier finally got out of her grumpy funk and helped him put in the last 2 bottles of wine. We have never been in a wine store where the customer was expected to pack up our own wine purchases. We are going to avoid this cashier the next time we go to this store (I hope she was just having a bad day but still...) So beware of anyone who looks like they are having a bad day. read more

This place has an overall good selection and competitive prices. However, my problem is when I go there and try and pick up a keg for the kegerator. The managers are not very friendly and act like it is an inconvenience to them to assist me with getting the keg out of the back room. Poor selection, could not find staple hard cider, the entire cold beer section looked like they were going out of business. The stocking staff were friendly but the cashiers were too busy having a conversation to acknowledge me in any meaningful way. This is not the first time this has happened. I know they are not making a ton of money to work there but you need some type of customer service skills. If I was in a pinch I would go back for convenience but I would not look to go back there. read more

Great selection of wine and beer, good prices (my favorite is always $5 cheaper than the smaller liquor store closer to my house). The reason for the 3 stars is the service, or lack there of. I'm not looking to be treated like I would at Saks but it's ridiculous having one cashier open, taking a personal phone call, with 5 people in line and then there 4 guys helping one man pick out a case of wine. Exactly what it sounds like, bottle King is a megamart for alcohol ; ) the prices are good, and the selection is average. The staff is sort of knowledgeable, if you can find them, and they really will try and help you to the best of their ability. They have a small selection of cheeses and are usually giving away free samples. I do buy some craft beers here. But I do so typically on guesswork rather than consultation. The parking is great. There is no atmosphere to the place. read more
