I stopped inside Wine Barrel Wednesday evening to buy a bottle of wine for Thanksgiving dinner. This Wine Barrel is in a convenient location in a shopping plaza that has ample parking. The store has a great selection of wines and beers, and identifies some "top pick" recommendations. These recs give you a description of the wines, which was really helpful (to me, for making a decision). Lastly, but not of least importance, I was greeted entering and asked if I needed help finding anything, and the cashiers were friendly. I will come back again when in the area. read more

Some things are cheap. Wine selection is terrible (everything from Burgundy says "Chardonnay" or "Pinot Noir" on it). Yet i am still giving 1 star because of how poor the owner is. I went in recently with a friend and bought a bottle of wine. I asked her about the moonshine pickles she carries. She snatched them out of my hand, scanned them before I even said I wanted them, and said something along the lines of, "They are great. Moonshine is all the rage right now. You won't be dissapointed." That does not answer my question, and she clearly did not know anything about the product. Incredibly predatory and aggressive. The time before that when I went in, I asked her if she had Cote Rotie. She directed me to the Spanish Wine section... so she owns a wine shop and doesn't know anything about wine. Doesn't deserve even one star. Run away from this place. Hide your wallet. Go to the liquore store on Myrtle.. Beware, you could get yelled st, don't ask for anything. Find it yourself. She treats her employees like crap and her customers worse. Seriously Be prepared to spend 2-10 dollars more. It is crazy how horrible she is. I heard an elder omen ask about getting someone a bottle of scotch for a gift. She YELLED. TURN AROUND AND PUCK WHAT YOU WANT. Hey mentioned that I had bought the maple bird dog for 3 months at 16.99 and asked why all of a sudden it was 18.99. She just yelled. Said you pay that price. I Hara what I pay. This is one of those if I could give less than a star I would. The female owner is such a bitch. She is so nasty for absolutely no reason if you don't know how to deal with people don't be in the service industry. Not to mention I've gone countless times and seen her serve underage minors, without checking ids. It baffles me how this business has managed to stay afloat with her disgusting attitude. Terrible service. I went in on my lunch hour with not much time to spare. I tried to approach the only person in the store who appeared to be on the phone negotiating orders. As he was busy I went about searching on my own. When I approach him again a few minutes later he continued to joke around and place orders completely ignoring me and the woman behind me was ready to buy her wine. Went over the weekend with 3 friends, and a female manager or owner proceeded to follow us very closely. And then tell me I wasn't allowed to have my purse inside the store because they have had problems with theft in the store. She wanted me to leave my purse unattended on the counter while I shopped. I was not going to leave my purse out of my sight in a store, so I decided to sit it on the counter and wait for my friends by the counter. She continued to harass me so I l went outside and waited for my friends there without buying anything. She made me feel like she thought I was a thief, and I will never go back. I had been to Buy-Rite before, though it's been awhile. Maybe they are under new ownership now? Next time I'll go down the street to Liquor Outlet Wine Cellars, a nicer store with great selection where you aren't treated like a criminal. read more

I purchased several bottles of wine. The wine was bitter which is extremely unusual for a Merlot. In speaking with a colleague, who has purchased wine from this location, he had the same experience. The wine is not being stored at the proper temperature which make it taste rancid. I will drive to Total wine moving forward. read more

I just happen to swing by this place coming from Minado (japanese restaurant) on my way home and stopped in. Good variety of alcohol and even non-alcoholic drinks. Pretty organized. I had a magnificent experience at Wine Barrel. I went in to purchase some liquor and paid my bill in cash from a bank envelope. I thought that I put the envelope back safely in my purse. A couple of hours later when I was home I went to look for the envelope and it was not there. I realized that I must have left it on the counter by mistake at the store. Devistated Figuring that I would never see that money again I tried to call the store anyway to see if I would have any luck. To my surprise the young salesgirl who waited on me that morning answered the phone and said cheerfully that yes, she had found the envelope and put it aside for me if I should come back for it. All of the money was in the envelope when I went back to get it! ( there was almost $200) I was so inspired that there are still honest and decent people in this world that would do such a thing. Used to frequent this store 2-4 times a week, but will never return after my experience tonight. After a long day at work, I rushed to arrive at Buy Rite before they close. A minute before closing, I was walking in and the woman who owns it rudely shut the door in my face. This is no way to run a business or treat a customer, especially one who is at the store so often.
