Even though my home was closer to the Timberline Fire Protection District, he didn't just tell me to call someone else--he personally referred me to them because they could respond more quickly. That referral made all the difference. Because of Paul's help, Dan, Blake, and John from the Timberline Fire Protection District came out the very same day. They went far above and beyond anything I ever expected. They searched thoroughly, brought specialized equipment, reassured me every step of the way, and stayed until I finally had peace of mind knowing my cats were alive. Paul's kindness, quick thinking, and willingness to help set everything in motion. It says so much about his character that his priority was simply getting me the help I needed as quickly as possible. Both the Nederland and Timberline Fire Protection Districts should be incredibly proud of the people who serve their communities. Idk, there wasn't a fire reported (they let the fattest one drive). I called the non-emergency line & they sent "911". Absolutely pitiful. These men are an absolute disgrace to everything the founding fathers stood for & have no place in heaven. Unfortunately, tax payer dollars were wasted for an idiotic joyride to mcdonald's. how pathetic.

In the lobby, I was delighted to see a large display of items cleverly hanging on the wall that led up 4 floors. There were ordinary things such as office chairs in a circle, handsaws, clipboards, construction hats, pitchforks, one way signs and on and on. The art could be seen up close by accessing the elevators or stairs. The artist is Donald Lipski that makes works for public buildings among other things. The staff at the Information Desk were helpful and nice. I asked an office worker for a place to eat near by and she recommended Z!Eat (formerly Zoup!). Tasty food. The atmosphere in the whole building was quiet and clean despite all the offices. I love quirky art so seeing this wall was a wonderful surprise for me.

The Webb building stands in the middle of a very busy courthouse, and a child day care center. One of the tallest buildings in Denver, beating the Republic Plaza at 714 ft. Wellington Webb was one of our first mayor of Denver, back in 1991. The double W building, is the place to come if you're trying to get licensing on for city jobs such as airport/hospital security. Most doors have card readers on them, so don't panic, and locate the very front entrance that is open for the public. HSS guards are posted in the front with a metal detector screening incoming visitors. The lobby in itself is very geometric with conservative art, representing the image of a government municipal building. There is a built in Subway cafe, with plenty of seating and a spacious lobby.

In the walls there are a series of interesting names, and Latin mottos on two opposite sides that describe labor and rest. Definitely an epic courthouse to see in Denver!

Such an interesting and controversial statue. Really excited to find the article in the Westword…read morenoting that the Cold War Horse was having a dedication ceremony today (http://www.westword.com/news/powerful-political-sculpture-vandalized-near-rocky-flats-to-be-reinstalled-7238530) with speakers such as Jon Lipsky (the former FBI agent who led the June 6, 1989, raid on Rocky Flats, which ultimately resulted in the plant shutting down operations), Kristen Iversen (author of Full Body Burden: Growing up in the Nuclear Shadow of Rocky Flats - compelling page turner if I must say so myself), as well as several others. Getting there is a cinch, and there is loads of parking on the sides of the road as well as very close to the statue. A plaque/stone includes lots of information regarding the Rocky Flats Plant for viewers reference. Definitely a very interesting piece of local history that I will more than likely bring out of town guests to moving forward.

We had heard of this WWI landmark in the news when the Nine Mile Corner shopping center was under…read more zoning review during its feline t approval process. It had been decades since we had been out this way as it is far east of the part of Boulder County where we live. The review ended up saving the markers while designing the highway access points to the now built shopping center we visited today. They are remarkable hand built pillars of local sandstone, commemorating those who served in that war. They also served as a gateway to Boulder County from the eastern Latina of Colorado and from Denver before the network of modern highways were built. At the time , 1928, Arapahoe at this location was to be known at this gateway as the Road of Remembrance. Sadly, there is no way place to actually walk up to these pillars to view them up close. Hopefully some day there will be more than the notes on the Historic Boulder website but if you are driving past to the shopping center, you can get a glance like we did as we had been by years ago when just a country rd.
