I came for the annual Peeps diorama exhibition created by local kids. Several creative dioramas using historical books and current films. This is the only Longmont library. They have 2 floors of books with teen and kindergarten area, a separate area for computer access. I saw a poetry section, a free puzzle exchange and free food & flower seeds. There are several free parking lots. Free street parking has 2hr limits. read more

SOOO much praise for the Longmont library!! I've been going to the library for two years since I moved to Longmont in 2022 and I have had a wonderful experience. First and foremost, if you have children, their children's area is phenomenal. It has two entrances and exits so it's very manageable to bring multiples and not have to have any stroller bound to avoid running off. I'm leaving a review today as I was at the library with my friend and her son and I left my wallet on the floor between the shelves in the adult section. Before I had even noticed the wallet was gone, library security had found my ID in the wallet, called my phone (which I sent to voicemail) left a voicemail saying they had an item of mine AND ON TOP OF THAT about 2 minutes into me frantically searching for my wallet, library security approached me, asked my name and then handed my wallet back. Absolutely phenomenal work by the library. Just a true testament to show that the library is for EVERYONE and that means everyone !! I was so worried about my wallet being stolen being in such a high traffic and public place that I am still shocked that it was found before I noticed and returned without me even needing to ask someone for help! They found me!! I always recommend this library to friends before today but now I'll be telling this story each time I do! Thank you Longmont library! read more

Lousy selection of books! I had a list of books I wanted to borrow instead of buying on Amazon. So I searched this library's catalog and they have none of the books on my list! They did indicate some of them were at other libraries but come on, I wanted to go to this library today and get some books. I swear they have more DVDs than books and it's a big library! Very disappointed. Also BEWARE of the HOMELESS people! Very dangerous and suspicious!! They let anyone in here! read more

Reading Rainbow The Longmont Library offers many exciting programs for members of the community. They hold weekly story times for newborns all the way up to school aged kids. Their calendar is also filled with many fun activities you can either show up to or preregister for. For example, my children enjoyed a special treat this past Halloween. They offered about 15 minutes of spooky stories and had the entire room full of kids dressed in their costume circle the civic center to grab some candy from a few different departments. Very cool especially since they offered it on the 30th & 31st with a few times throughout the day as well. Talk about accommodating! I also wanted to join in on the ginger bread house activity they had in December but didn't have a chance to register my kids in time. If you live in Longmont then I suggest stopping by their website to checkout their calendar and all the other nifty resources they have online. This is a great library! Just a block of Main Street, the library is in a new building which is light and airy with many windows. Just a nice vibe. Librarians have always been helpful and friendly, when asked. We get DVDs from the library on those rare days when we've returned all 3 of our Netflix DVDs at the same time (quel dommage!). They have a nice collection of classic, foreign and independent films, as well as loads of British miniseries and mysteries. Just a nice free resource that is often overlooked. read more

This library has excellent staff that are always available to help you with whatever you need. I like coming here for a quiet place to read or study. The building is clean, and there are lots of places for you to sit. Some are near the window and have a really great view. The wireless internet is fast and steady, you can stream easily. Sometimes large buildings like this don't have such secure internet so it's nice. They have a wide variety of books and are able to get you what you need through inter library loan. The library hosts some fun events, and the table in the front allows you to donate and pick up free magazines. Great community library that offers great services to the public. read more

The Longmont library is a big city library with a small town feel, its upper level is quiet enough to offer quality, uninterrupted study or reading time, while the main level is a buzz with the check out counter and the internet computer lab. Large spacious study rooms on the upper floor allow you to study without feeling cramped plus rocking chairs in the reading area allow you to get lost in your favorite book. If you like to read or need a quiet place to study or do homework, this place is for you. read more

I love this place. First of all, the inventory is accurate. I gave up going to the Boulder library because every time I searched the stacks for a book the system said was not checked out, I couldn't find it. They have a pretty decent set of books, and the reference and interlibrary loan librarians are wonderful--friendly, helpful, accomodating. They often purchase books I request through interlibrary loan, unless it is just too expensive, academic, or esoteric. They also really support local authors, and purchase their books for the stacks. They have an extensive selection of books on CD as well as langauge learning CDs and the absolutely fabulous Great Courses through the Teaching Company. They have an extensive selection of DVDs, including most of the major Brit coms and BBC dramas and series. Now that they have the new self-checkout, checkout is a breeze. Finally, they take in donation all the books that the Used Book Emporium doesn't want, so I always have a place to recycle the books I don't want anymore. read more

I do greatly appreciate the Longmont Library. However, I fail to understand why the library blocks access to its website except during business hours. Why is it necessary to block access to your website? I have contacted you about this many times to no avail. It is really quite frustrating. read more

The Longmont Public Library is an excellent modern city-sized library for a small town. It's always clean, well-staffed, inviting, eventful, quiet, and organized. The express check-out kiosks for books was a new thing for me, being an old-school lover of old libraries. But it was great! As a mom, I LOVE love the children's wing. The rest of this review will focus on the children's wing only because this is the part of the library where I spend the most time. Fostering a love of reading in a child is important to me, so I was impressed by all the things she can do there. There are well-kept computer stations, a dedicated desk for questions, toys, a working-model scale train exhibit (the zinger that got my kid through their doors), plenty of picture books in front, a private room for events, nooks and corners with pillows for reading, a bilingual reading area, and lovingly-made murals and book comparison charts. There is even a puppet playhouse and comfy couches for parents/adults who like to read while their child roams the shelves. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. I also love the younger kids who volunteer there. There are read-alouds and events for kids during the year, so it's never boring. Lastly, I'm a fan of the books-for-sale section right when you walk through the inner library doors. I always find an interesting book, and for a dollar or two, it's always a great read. Come visit. It's a great investment of your time, brain and dollars. read more

Thieves, thieves, & more thieves. My 2 year old daughter had her sunglasses taken from her here, she was sitting next to me. Too many homeless people who are sketchy, and are just hanging out here lately. I guess because it is warm in the Library. I just don't get why they would take glasses from a two year old, kind of a limited market to sell to, & it's not like it would fit them. read more

Pretty cool library. The staff is super helpful, one thing i strongly dislike is their lack of after hours drop box for the books. You can only return items during operating hours. If you work or have kids this can be a bit of an inconvenience. read more

Husband and I tend to go here almost every Saturday. Pros: Self Checkout Quiet Book Sales! Even found a hardback "Geek Love" here! Automated reminders for books on hold. (phone calls or email) Online classes Decent array of magazines -one week checkout DVD rentals - one week checkout Music CDs- one week checkout Magazine check out- Lift the shelf where the magazine is and look underneath. You can check those out! Cons: Parking blows. Pick the front, one side, and back (one small lot and some street parking)of the building. The city took away the underground parking! Returned two books on sparate occasions, only to be told they were overdue. Then found them on the shelf! Depends on your perspective: Change machine gives you $1 coins. I personally don't mind 'em. Homelessness doesn't seem to be a problem that I have noticed. Let a person read - jeez.... read more

The city services department across the street from the library took over most of the parking at the library. The basement parking, the best, shadiest, and most weather friendly is off limits to the public. There is signage that states that the parking is by permit only. The library, and its parking facility, is for the public; not a bunch of elitists who think they can take over anything they want for heir own comfort. The city employees should park on the street or in their own parking lot. Other than that, the library is a gem for a town this size. read more

The personnel are some of the best people I've ever dealt with. They are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. My only complaint is that now that they are part of this "consortium", the other libraries only give you 7 days on videos of 500 to 600 minutes and there are some DVD's that are only available through other libraries. For example "Midsomer Murders" which is not available in Longmont Adult DVDs. Otherwise I would give them 5 stars! read more

I can only review the childrens section because I haven't had the chance to visit any other part. Working model train and wooden trine set, felt dollies, puzzles, computer games, evening story times, a plethora of kids picture books that are child accessible, helpful librarian, and read to a dog programs for kids once a month. that is a library for kids. And you don't have to be a res of Longmont just a res in Colorado. It is walking distance to a coffee shop off the main drags you don't have to go in and out of the car as usual. It is a little bit of a drive to get there but I sense that is the way it is if you are in the burbs of Longmont and boulder. read more

This library often claims we've lost books when it's actually their fault. They seem to have a serious problem tracking returned books. Usually they are able to find the book but this is after sending letters asking us to pay late fees. If we refuse to pay for a book they've lost, they use a collection agency to harass us until we pay. This has happened repeatedly so we've stopped going there because we are tired of replacing books we haven't lost and don't want to jeopardize our credit rating because of their incompetency. read more
