Have had many ear infections in a yr. They were able to figure out why and are helping avoid further

I went in for my appointment and was asked to pay a balance I had never been told about. I explained I was not expecting a balance and always pay any bills I receive in the mail. The staff became extremely rude, and I was repeatedly accused of being wrong without any explanation or attempt to check the records first. Despite waiting past my appointment time to speak with the doctor, the front desk threatened to deny me care unless I paid the disputed balance. Even after explaining the situation and that this was likely a billing error, I was treated with hostility and physically shoved out of the office by Stephanie Johnson. After seeing many reviews about the same PA Caitlyn, it seems they are committing outright fraud. I will be looking into to this and filing a complaint with the appropriate boards. At no point was there professional or compassionate treatment -- only accusations and intimidation. This experience was humiliating, stressful, and completely unprofessional. I do not recommend this office. Do not go here. No person especially an actively sick patient should be treated like this. read more

Steer clear. The reviews about poor service are accurate. I left without my problem solved. I had a buildup of ear, and apparently it couldn't be dealt with in the time allotted for. I was told to use hydrogen per for several days and come back. For this non solution, I'm sure my insurance will be billed several hundred dollars, since this is a specialty clinic. And if I were to return, there would be a second charge. I would have been better served at an Emergicare center. They would have fixed the problem. The front office was disorganized. When I asked if my insurance had been verified, I was told "It should be fine." Inhad to ask them to confirm it while I was there. It is nit a well run place. Avoid. read more

I booked this appointment while traveling through Colorado from Hawaii. I had Covid for the first time back in late September, and one of the lasting symptoms was in my left ear, gland, sinus, and back of throat. My doctor in Hawaii diagnosed me with OME and suggested it should clear within 12 weeks. Though it had improved, it was still bothering me enough to seek further evaluation. As someone with 30 years of clinical experience in holistic healing and self-care practices, including self-massage, I knew this wasn't a matter that could be resolved with massage and heat packs alone. Upon visiting this establishment, the doctor examined my ears and concluded they were fine, recommending massage and heat packs. However, my chiropractor later discovered crystals stuck on my eardrum and flushed them out, providing some relief. The disappointing part was that I rarely seek medical help, so when I do, it's because something is genuinely wrong. Paying almost $300 out of pocket to be disregarded by a doctor who didn't listen to my concerns was frustrating. It's disheartening when the medical establishment fails to meet basic standards of service. I'm contemplating disputing the charge, as the experience felt like a waste of time and money. read more

I would caution against this place. I wish I would have read the reviews prior. Decent doctor, but, terrible business practice Absolutely horrible price transparency. I echo the other reviewers, their pricing is egregious. And, they will bill for an "office visit" and then look to "code" and bill for pretty much anything beyond the doctor walking through the door. Sadly, I did not find this out until after the doctor had me come back for a few follow up visits. The last visit that lasted ~10 minutes cost me over $300, $120 more than the previous visit, simply because I inquired if surgery would be a possibility for my ear. They are allegedly having problems with their billing system. The billing person said that their system has been double billing customers. The problem is that the double amount is what was showing both on the paper bills and the online billing portal. The only way that I realized I didn't have the pay for the duplicate amount is because I called in to understand why my bill was outrageous. They told me of the one double charge that I didn't have to pay and so my bill was slightly less outrageous. I'd recommend finding another place, I certainly will. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! had a horrible experience with no solid advice given, first they made me wait 25 minutes past my appointment time, then they had a new P.A. (Lauren Cantor) assess my hearing issue and she couldn't answer any of my questions because she had no experience in the matter. You would think they would have her shadow before she saw patients. Lastly, they charge $342 for a 20 minute visit that didn't have any solution. I would advise anyone to seek another office than this poor excuse for an Ear, Nose and Throat Office. read more

Boulder Valley Ear Nose and Throat Association did my allergy tests. After deciding I did not want to go back to them and found another allergist, I asked them to email me the results twice, over the phone. I was told by two people that they would send them, but they never came. So, I called a third time. They then told me they needed me to sign a release form in order for them to release to me, my results. Then they said, why don't you just go into portal to get the information. But the information is NOT in the portal. So, I now need to go into their office to sign a release form that allows them to release to me, my personal records, that I paid for. All throughout this process, they were unprofessional and rude and clearly their operation needs some serious organization. Given how they run their office, it makes me wonder if I should not trust the test results. read more

I had a wonderful session with Laura Norman today. I presented her with three symptoms. After a brief and efficient round of questions she hypothesized that two of them might be related. We went to another room where she inserted a scope through my nasal cavity into my throat. She showed me my throat on a video and explained exactly how two of my symptoms are related. She offered a simple solution for this problem. She also offered a simple exercise to resolve my third symptom, an exercise called the Epley Maneuver. I found working with Laura to be quite enjoyable. Her manner is quite pleasant and very efficient. I recommend her highly. read more

Dr. Maschka is an experienced, qualified ENT. However I do think the practice's pricing could be more reasonable. Here is a breakdown of what on visit (approx 60-90 mins) cost. Charges (Insurance Adj) Office Visit (New Patient) $295 (-$70.46) Scope procedure to evaluate Eustachian tube $232 (-$72.61) Mastoid bowl cleaning $269 (-$175.65) Audiological Exam $88 (-$27.79) Audio Typanometry $44 (-$20.94) Total expense after insurance adjustment: $560.55 Price transparency is important. As with most medical practices, none of these charges are communicated ahead of procedures. Maybe others will find this helpful. read more

I went to Boulder Valley Ear Nose & Throat office for a consultation because I thought I might have a nasal polyp. I was only planning to get a consultation without any procedures. I went in and Dr. Maschka looked at my nasal passages and told me that I do not have a nasal polyp. One of the walls just got a little inflamed and it will go away on its own. All of this took maybe 5 minutes. I paid my copay and left. 6 months later I have received a bill for a NASAL ENDOSCOPY which apparently is a whole another procedure that they charge $389 for. I was shocked. The doctor never discussed any procedures with me, nor let me know that there are going to be additional charges. Because this went through my insurance, I need to pay the deductible of $279 which is more expensive than if I paid out of pocket because they offer 40% off for this service. I am mostly upset by the lack of transparency and that I was not notified of the potential charges so that I could make an informed decision. I have tried speaking with the billing department, but they have one answer: "There is nothing we can do". It feels more like they want nothing to do about it. And hence, 1 star. I thought my experience was unique and then I went online and started reading other people's reviews for this office and I am not surprised now. It seems to me that some of the doctors at this office are not concerned with how their practice affects their patients. Really sad. read more

I had a terrible ear infection and a bad episode of vertigo. I called my regular ENT practice, and I couldn't get through to make an appointment. I finally contacted Boulder Valley ENT. They were able to get me in the next day. Dr. Maschka gave me some ear drops that quickly helped my ear infection. He also performed the Epley maneuver to address the vertigo, and that helped immediately. The next day, I was getting dizzy again, so they squeezed me in at the end of the day and did the maneuver again. I'm so grateful to the empathetic front office staff and Dr. Maschka for helping me quickly! read more

My primary doctor recommended a professional ear cleaning during my annual physical, so I scheduled this with Dr. Maschka at Boulder Valley ENT. Doctor Maschka came into the exam room looking as if he had just woken up from a nap. He glanced in each ear, said, "they look healthy", recommended I clean each ear with a vinegar and peroxide solution, "a few times per month should do it", and sent me on my way (isn't this why I scheduled an appointment with you? To clean my ears?) Dr. Maschka spent less than two minutes in the exam room with me and I'm not sure he knew what the appointment was for. I came and went from his office in less than eight minutes, including the time it took to complete new-patient paperwork. Today I received the bill for $116 - what an incredible waste of time and money. Avoid this practice because even if Dr. Maschka doesn't do his job, you'll be stuck paying him anyway. Save yourself the trouble and money by trying the carbamide peroxide 6.5% drops and/or the WaxRx kit. These worked great for me and are similar solutions to what Dr. Maschka recommended, so they "should do it" (where have I heard that before?) regardless, the solution or kit will work harder for you than Dr. Maschka will. read more

During a brief visit with Dr. Donald A. Maschka in 2016, after telling him of an issue I had been experiencing with my voice for about six months, I encountered a bill of nearly $400 for approximately 5-10 minutes worth of services ending it with a knee-jerk hand out and diagnosis of Gastroesophageal reflux disease. I never gave this doctor permission to do a throat exam, and failed to mention that most insurance might not cover it (and, mine did not). After writing this letter below and calling and speaking with the office representative, Mr. Monkman, this doctor has turned me into collections which is reflecting negatively on all credit bureaus. I see that me and Elizabeth M. have much in common! Ripoff report to be filed! Dear Dr. Maschka, During my doctor visit on February 26th (2016) I scheduled a visit to see you after experiencing an uncomfortable, scratchy feeling in my throat. I complained of minor throat irritation and mentioned that my voice had become hoarse, on occasion, over the past couple of months. During the visit, after briefly discussing this and only answering a few questions from you, you said that you would be right back and needed to look at my throat - leaving for a moment (at this point it was my assumption this was a routine tactic-just like a doctor performing a standard physical exam). There was no mention at all from you at this time that this procedure was peripheral and I would be charged an additional $232.00 or I would have declined as I am on a limited income. Consequently, my insurance only paid $70.55 of this charge. Also, after doing online research and calling another ENT, your secondary laryngoscopy procedure I found to be overpriced ($100-$150, average in office cost). Meanwhile, out of the medical bill of an excessive $190 for the office visit and $232 for the scope, I am asking, kindly for your second procedure, I was unaware of to be credited. Not only did your list of instructions not help me (GERD handout); but I honestly find this first and one-time office visit to be outrageous ($400+). Thank you. read more

I have been having sporadic moments of hearing loss, extremely painful tinnitus, headache, problems focusing & thinking clearly, trouble with vision, vibrating in my jaw and ears, plus vertigo for the past 2 months and I have been written off by every doctor I went to until I finally ended up going to the ER one night due to fainting and sending myself into a panic attack. I have been experiences milder forms of these symptoms since December, but just recently they have gotten so bad, to the point where I am not able to function in my day-to-day life. I was at the point of tears when I called Boulder Valley Ear Nose and Throat and they were able to squeeze me in the same day at which point I saw Dr. Warren. I was so scared he was going to write me off like every doctor did prior and I guess I would just go on my way thinking I was going crazy, but luckily he didn't. He listened to all my symptoms and answered as much as he could. I felt very heard and for once felt like I was going to get answers. After an auditory exam it turns out that I possibly have something much for serious so he immediately helped me get into a specialist in Denver. I had an appointment at 9:30 and waited 45 minutes before I was called back, at this point I was pretty frustrated. A lot of people who came in after me went back before me. Everyone I met with was very nice, but my ear doctor failed to mention some of the things my primary doctor caught about my ears which surprised me. In the end they concluded absolutely nothing was wrong with me, which is hopefully true but I will be seeking a different opinion since I just didn't trust everything. I would not recommend this clinic. read more

I also had a very good experience with Dr King. We saw Dr King earlier this year to put tubes in my toddler's ears due to recurring ear infections. He was friendly, kind, patient and very thourough. He took the time to answer all my questions before we scheduled the procedure. Day of the procedure was very smooth and I knew exactly what to expect. Dr King was nothing but kind and polite to us. My daughter was never subjected to any kind of painful procedure or exam. He is very good with kids, very kind and gentle and remains the only doctor my daughter will allow to check her ears. I would absolutely recommend him to others. read more

My visit with Dr. Maschka was wonderful. He and his medical staff were professional and competent. The billing department, however, is a disgrace. I payed my bill in full upon receiving the invoice for my visit. The full amount was paid in July 2021. I then continued to receive statements and threats to turn my account over to collections in September. I've attempted to resolve this with the billing department and Boulder Valley ENT's third-party billing company numerous times. In September, I spoke with Juan Castellano at Greenway Health and submitted my July bank statement as proof that the payment had been made and cleared my account. I was assured the matter was resolved at that time. Nonetheless, in October I received yet another statement and again contacted Greenway Health, at which time I was told by a representative named Deke that the proof of payment I provided had posted and the collection status had been removed from my account... It is now December and I have received yet another statement showing a balance due on my account. Today I attempted to take this up directly with the staff at Boulder Valley ENT, rather than continue to fight with the third-party billing company. I've been placed on hold twice, and my call had been disconnected both times without anyone taking the call to communicate with me directly about this issue. This is unacceptable! I will not being going back to Boulder Valley ENT due to their disastrous billing department practices. Unfortunately, I suspect Dr. Maschka has no idea what it going on being the scenes. I have been seeing Gina M. since I bought my first hearing aids over 13 years ago. She has helped me with my tinitus, sensitivity and frequent adjustments. She has always been clear, accessible, professional and so helpful. If I needed a referral to an ENT he/she was right there. The office had the latest in hearing developments and convenient locations and appointment times. I highly recommend Gina and her office for their devotion to helping patients deal with hearing loss. read more

The specialist I saw was fine, but the appointment lasted all of 20 minutes and the MD diagnosed a common problem that he sees regularly. The bill was nearly $700. The billing practices of this organization are way out of line with the wages most people receive. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. (Or money!!!!!) I saw the doctor for less than 10 minutes, they even confirmed this in their notes. A few months later, I received a bill for OVER SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. They claimed it was a "comprehensive, tier four visit" and won't do anything about the charge. It's absolutely ridiculous. In addition, the doctor wasn't even helpful.. he looked in my throat for a few seconds and said I was fine. He then proceeded to try to advertise some plastic surgery that his friend does. Every single time we had go to Boulder Valley ENT for my daughter's ear issues, we had a great experiences. They were very patient with her anxiety, and helped her conditions. Then, my elderly Father was visiting and had an issue in his throat requiring an emergency room visit. The emergency room doc couldn't find anything, but due to the conditions wanted an ENT to scope my Dad's throat. I informed him that we liked the team at Boulder Valley ENT, so he called them and instead of setting up an appointment, they told us that they'd send a PA to my Dad's emergency room. She was there within 10 minutes and scoped his throat and very calmly said that he had serious infection, spoke with the team of docs, and they had him on intravenous meds within 15 minutes. Dr. Morrisey was there within 20 minutes to confirm her findings and admit him to the hospital. Over the next 3 days, we saw various Docs and PA's from this office and they were all absolutely amazing. read more

After being sick for a couple of weeks, my primary doc suggessted I visit an ent if I was not getting better. I woke up in severe pain in my ear/jaw/throat one morning and started frantically looking for an ent that I could see that day. I ended up seeing Myra Baker at the Louisville location. Overall it was a terrible experience. She rushed through the appointment and ended up diagnosing me w/ TMJ. It was a completely wrong diagnosis as it ended up being an infected tooth....so then I get an outrageous bill for over $500! She literally saw me for about 5 minutes! I called the office to see if I could possibly work out a deal with them regarding the price, and the lady that I spoke with on the phone was completely rude and highly unprofessional. After I calmly explained my situation and why I was dissapointed in the entire experience she got all huffy and said "well that's the way the healthcare system works in this country." Really? You would think they would try and teach their receptionists to be a little more understanding and compassionate if they are going to be dealing w/ people who are in severe pain and just hoping to get some relief. I realize that it was my (and my docs) mistake for going to an ent when I needed a dentist, but seriously $500 for a 5 min consultation? That is ridiculous and then to add insult to injury with their horrible customer service.....I would never recommend this office to anyone and in fact will tell everyone I know to avoid it at all costs if they ever need an ent! read more

My husband was recently seen by Dr. Morrissey for a voice condition. We could not have asked for a better experience or better care from a doctor. He immediately diagnosed the problem and worked hard to schedule us for a procedure to correct it within 24 hours. At the hospital he went out of his way both before and after the procedure to make my husband and our family feel comfortable and informed. We have been going to Boulder Valley ENT for several years for allergies and have always been impressed by the kind and helpful staff and this last experience with Dr. Morrissey reconfirmed for us what a wonderful practice it is. overcharged,misdiagnosed and disrespected. I made an appointment to see an MD but instead I was seen by a PA. I spent 5 minutes with the PA who told me I needed a CT scan. I was then (mis)prescribed a steroid that had severe side effects, I was not told the purpose of the steroid or what to expect. I was billed $475 dollars for this. The PA was very much in a hurry to get me out of the office and put little thought into the diagnosis or prescription. The diagnosis turned out to be 100% wrong and there was no need to prescribe a steroid at all. Find yourself a different ENT, this office is far more concerned bout their bottom line than practicing medicine. This clinic really needs the practice as diagnosing patients is not their forte. I called the business office to lodge a complaint about the misdiagnosis and they responded by saying that "medicine is not an exact science" , yet the bill was quite precise, to the penny. This clinic bill's the same, whether you are "seen" by a PA or MD. I question the integrity of this clinic. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Correction: It was physician's assistant Jensen Lewis who actually treated me on this visit and not Dr. Warren. Dr. Warren did a great job previously for one of our kids, which is why I went to this practice. But it was Jensen Lewis who deserves all the kudos for my recent visit. read more

This place is terrible. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. All the doctors are bad people. None of them care about you or your financial situation. They talk about their patients in front of other patients. The blond girl at the front desk yells at her co-workers in front patients. I had to get sinus surgery and was considering this office but bailed last minute because they were so unprofessional. The staff looks more like a bunch of ugly sorority chicks. Nobody knows whats going on in that office. Not to mention my medical records were stolen from this office and mailed to me by some random person. And when I called to speak with someone the office manager was completely unhelpful. This office is a joke. I would not recommend it. read more

Dr. Donald A. Maschka at this location was not helpful at all to help me understand my year long on/off ear infections. He dismissed my worries and symptoms as not relevant. He said that nothing was wrong but I still have painful ear aches on cold days. After reading the reviews, I dread of the bill that I may receive in coming weeks. read more
