Really nice quiet random park just N of Fairhaven area. Parking is plentiful towards the N end of the park. There is a kids' playground and a field with an outdoor stage. However, the best part of the park is the nice long Taylor Dock boardwalk that runs the length of the S side of the park. Great for a brisk seaside stroll, and provides a nice view of Bellingham Bay. read more

This is one of the most beautiful parks I've ever been to. It's big enough to take a nice walk by the water and sometimes see a variety of sea animals. It's also the perfect spot for picnics. There's public restrooms available to its easy to stay for a long time and a cafe on site as well. It is very popular so sometimes parking can get wild. read more

This is a beautiful park. We came here for Woods Coffee on a Friday afternoon. The parking lot was full but with patience, you could get a spot as people were coming and going on that day. The weather cooperated and we were treated to a gorgeous view of the sea. It was not too sunny or cloudy. It was a calm day and we could hear the birds chirping and building their nests at the eaves of Woods Coffee building. The park was busy but not overly crowded that you felt hemmed in. I liked the boardwalk which made a nice walk. Benches were scattered along the way and there was a small solar powered shelter at the end. A good place to chill and enjoy the view. read more

Boulevard Park was our last day-trip stop-off point after driving from Mukilteo to enjoy the sights; our itinerary included Whatcom Falls Park, Big Rock Garden, Mallard Ice Cream and Cresswell Boggs, then Boulevard Park in Bellingham (after this we drove to Boomer's Drive Inn). Parking is limited as it is a very popular place for families, couples, tourists, locals, dog-walkers, joggers and photographers. It was amazing to see the throngs of people coming after the rain let up. It's as if anywhere in Washington state is waiting for the rain to stop to be able to come out, and even the rain won't stop people, either. Boulevard Park stretches out in both directions but we stayed in one spot on the rocky shoreline. The kids were enchanted with the rocky beach and at one point I would have thought it would have been apt to name this beach "Kids Throwing Rock Beach" because that's what all the kids would do, and it was fun watching them. I didn't get to walk the boardwalk to Fairhaven Historic District which is what I would have done if the husband was with me but I had to keep an eye on the kids, who were really happy digging among the rocks looking for specific rock shapes. There's a coffee shop on the board walk and the three bathrooms are located here. It's not clearly marked. I just saw a line, stood in it, and got lucky. On your way out you may be stuck behind the train that runs in front of the park but the kids got a blast watching the very long train roar by. All in all it was a great day on Boulevard Park. read more

This is a stunning waterfront park near Fairhaven and South Hill. Featuring a canoe and kayak launch, children's playground, lots of grassy picnic area, tables, benches, a small beach and bandstand, Boulevard Park affords the best unobstructed water views in Bellingham. There is also a lovely Woods Coffee outlet on the grounds which provides refuge from winter weather and a wonderful meeting spot. Parking can be challenging on a nice day, but the park is also conveniently located just off the bike path and Urban trail that runs between Fairhaven and downtown Bellingham. read more

My favorite park. A beautiful park on the shores of Bellingham Bay. Today I watched sail boats on the bay, kids swimming and playing on the beach and lots of people enjoying a walk on the path along the waterfront. Lots of families enjoying picnics and games in the large grassy area. I had fun observing all the creative activities of people on this sunny day. We walked the South Bay Trail. A cute little park with a coffee shop. This place seems to be popular as there was a good amount of people here. It was located by the water so it seemed like it was by the beach. The sun set was nice to view. Plus, the stones that lined this beachy area were great! Can you say free souvenirs? Legit. It was either me or a friend that made a comment about how smooth these stones were, and then I said my mission was to find a heart shaped one. All of a sudden, all the girls were stone searching... Even though not everyone was into it, we each brought at least one stone home. ;) read more

Back so soon. I know I love this park/beach and Bellingham in general. I may end up moving here just for this park and the wonderful people. I went here 09-28-18 to enjoy the last bit of warm weather that 2018 will most likely have. There was the normal group of yoga practitioners and bean bag players as usual. The one big change this time, was there was no death haze from the northern fires in Canada. There however was a shortage of parking spaces even along the street leading into the park. I was very lucky to find a couple leaving so I only waited at the very least 2 minutes. Not everyone got that lucky. Also, there is a lookout spot overlooking the park which is now blocked off for repair, which isn't really bad since the park has two walkways that cross over the bay and have plenty of spots to enjoy the sunset. Also and lastly, the seals have made it to the shores and have captured everyone's attention. They're fast and kind of hard to take pictures, so keep you camera on sport mode. read more

This is a great place to sit and relax. There are picnic tables, benches, and a play area available. Woods coffee is conveniently located within the park. This definitely isn't the place to go for peace and quiet as it is most often pretty packed. It's definitely popular with the college crowd. read more

What an Awesome park! I forgot how cool this place was. Recently came back again a few times now because I am a dog mom now and like to find cool places to take her for walks. This park is extremely popular. If you go on a weekend you will be lucky to find parking. I went another time during a weekday afternoon and it was surprisingly still really crowded in the parking lot. But luckily had several spaces still open. The park is right on Bellingham bay. You have amazing views in all directions you can even spot the mountains in Canada. The boardwalk trail/taylor dock is a really fun trail to walk on. It is wide enough for people to pass both ways and even bikers. Lots of benches along the trail and in the park area as well. They have a nice playground for kids and even a nice sandy beach area to make sandcastles if you want. That isn't even the best part of this park. It has it's own coffee shop. I am not talking a stand or food truck size. It is literally a full blown woods coffee shop with indoor seating and everything. They have an outdoor walk up window you can order from which is super nice if you are with your dog like me and can't go inside. 2 public restrooms are located outside near the walk up window area. If you haven't been to this park or your ever in the area I would definitely check it out. read more

Boulevard Park was an abandoned industrial site when I was a kid, I remember when it became a more formal park, we spent a lot of time here, taking in the beach (then covered in chunks of concrete (from sidewalks/roadways)), the large grassy fields and the walkways. Back then Boulevard Park was a bit of an island, there were no trails leading downtown or to Fairhaven. Now this park is a great gathering point, the center of town, the waypoint of a great network of trails between Downtown and Fairhaven. The beach has been significantly improved (goodbye concrete chunks), there is a stage with shows in the summer, a coffee shop that is the perfect place for a winter warm-up or a place to grab a comfy seat to watch boats come and go on the Bay. Fair warning, with all these improvements, this Park can be packed with parking very hard to come by. If you're planning a visit on a warm Summer weekend day, get here early to grab a piece of grass. I recommend walking in, there are trails coming from many directions that provide amazing access to this Park. read more

Much less dog poop at this park than I've seen at others. Also more people dense. It has a gorgeous view though and is an awesome sunset walk. There is also a Wood's coffee right on the boardwalk so ya, take a walk grab a #fourdollarlattelife and enjoy the view. There is a parking lot dedicated to the park. You get a little bit of everything with Boulevard park, beach, rocky shore, park, bit o'greenery, bridges, coffee. As packed as it was, it wasn't obnoxious packed and you can still enjoy the serenity of the views. You can walk all the way to Fairhaven on this path. read more

Good place to sit and watch the water, look at the island, look at the mountains, play with your kids, read, handout, eat some lunch, or just relax. My friend and I biked here from his place and it was a nice mid point spot to just relax [and catch our breaths ;)] Its looks like there's a beach, but there isn't really. Theres a man-made area where there is sand, but then it goes down go rocks until it reaches water. read more

Bellingham Parks & Recreation is working with professional consultants to design beach access and shoreline improvements at Boulevard Park. The Boulevard Park shoreline is eroding away as a result of ineffective shoreline armoring. Proposed improvements include removing concrete rubble along the shoreline, creating sand and gravel beaches and rock revetments. The design concept includes converting portions of the existing lawn to a gravel and sand beach. Enjoy, Barbecue Grills, Beach, Fishing Dock, Food Concession,Interpretive Displays, Overwater Boardwalk, Parking, Picnic Tables, Playground. Parking can very difficult at times especially in the spring and summer months. Great Park. Often have concerts in the park. Watch out for the trains :). read more

The beach here is beautiful and it is a long walk to the park but the park is cool and kids love it.

Wait until like 7 or 8 on a late-summer evening, y'know so you get some nice golden hour light... Go get some coffee or tea at Woods, then put on the Amelie soundtrack and walk or ride (preferably ride!) the boardwalk into old Fairhaven and catch a flick at the outdoor cinema. If this doesn't stir up warm sensations of optimistic whimsy, then there's no saving you. : ) read more

OMG there's not enough room in this box for anyone to describe how awesome Boulevard Park is. For starters, the views are breathtaking. Spectacular views of Bellingham bay. Pretty sure you have not fully lived until you have seen a sunset from here. There are no words. Having a Woods coffee right there only adds to the awesomeness. The boardwalk is an easy walk - a stroll between Fairhaven and the edge of the park where woods is located makes for a great time whether you are alone or in good company. Lots of benches to sit at along the way where you can sip your coffee or just look out into the the beautiful water and think. So good for the soul. This park is truly a gem - if you are in the area and haven't checked it out yet...what are you waiting for? :) read more

Boulevard Park is the perfect casual walk in town, often accomplished during a warm, sunny day. Perfect place to see a wonderful sunset. You can park in Fairhaven and walk to the main boardwalk and walk along to the end of the park, and continue past the railroad crossing anlong the water and into downtown. Or you can brave the parking lot proper, and start walking from the Woods Coffee to Fairhaven. Often at the right time, you will see seals and otters in the water, and during low tide, you can go under the boardwalk and play in the sand. You will see people set up hammocks between the pillars on the bridge, which is lovely or jumping off the pier. I think this is the most popular park in Whatcom and you will see many people here on a warm day. PROS: Woods Coffee is in the main park. Trails connecting to downtown Bellingham and downtown Fairhaven. Sea life often seen along the shore. Dog friendly. Bike friendly. Hammock friendly. Picnic areas with grills in the main park area. CONS: Parking really sucks on a nice day. Good luck finding one! Hopefully the new park up north will have a connecting boardwalk to the this main park! read more

This park is right on the water. And when I say right on the water, I mean that when it flooded a few winters ago, it was pretty much UNDERWATER. It's on the sound and boasts some stunning 180 degree views of the San Juans, north Bellingham and just all the gorgeous things you expect from Bellingham. The boardwalk is fun to traverse, and sometimes you can see otters sunning themselves on Taylor Dock. Woods Coffee sells delicious warm things to drink and eat (or cool, if you're there in the summer) and the playground entertains your littles. There's also great running/biking trails that will lead you to downtown (I run my long runs out of here to Zuanich and back). Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the nightmare of a parking situation it can get in the summer. Go early. Plan to stay all day. It's worth it. read more

Love Boulevard! Absolutely gorgeous views when it's nice out. Parking is a bit of a pain in the ass though. There is a long stretch of parking lot with a total of two rows of parking (row to the left/row to the right) and that's all she wrote. You can park on the hill and walk down. If you're down for a little bit of walking I highly suggest parking in Fairhaven and then walking the boardwalk to Boulevard!! Absolutely gorgeous views the entire way. Bring a girlie for a romantic walk if you're into that. If you can time it to be there at sunset it's really nice. Enjoy! read more

5 star park, yep: Others have covered the good parts pretty much, so I'm going to hit the "bad": Careful crossing the railroad tracks! Train will squish you. Pretty sure (still) no gate at the pedestrian crossing. Parking is limited. Good weather = Auugh! Rest rooms are ok :( for this type of place, but I suggest you take a potty break before coming. Other than that it is very very nice. Lately they made an "improvement" to the park... Oddly enough I think it did improve it. It's a beach (more or less). The shore had been big boulders along the whole "front" of the park, not so good for wading etc. So they replaced some of it with smaller stones (fist size and larger), and then put some sand behind that. Thus if you want to play on a sandy "beach" you can and if you want to wade you can do it without breaking your neck. I think I read it is actually supposed to be better erosion wise too. Little kids are busy digging it, and it looks decent. BTW I've heard the city is planning a new park closer to downtown on the shore, at Pine and Cornwall. Hopefully there will be a convenient way to get from Boulevard to there. I think South Bay Trail is a bit above it with the RR tracks in the way. read more

On a lovely bright sunny day, I was walking Boulevard Park with my cousin. The playground was busy with boisterous little munchkins. Joggers effortlessly moved along, and the college kids played a game of catch of the lawn. I turned to my cousin and said, "Doesn't this setting look like straight out of a movie?". You see I grew up in the hood. We didn't go to the local parks, were the gang members dilly-dallied and mean mugging strangers. The Woods Coffee shop is an added bonus to this lovely park. read more

One of the prettiest city parks you'll find. If I lived in B'ham, I'd be here every week. Gorgeous boardwalk (arching over the tidepools), kids playground, bike path. What's not to like? Seriously, and if the natural beauty doesn't do it for, you can always duck into Woods coffee and hide out for a couple hours. Love this gem of a park.
