    Cod and chips
    Danielle B.

Stopped in for a quick dinner at Bounty Fish & Chips and was greeted warmly upon arrival. They welcomed me to sit where I liked so I chose one of the few empty tables and was promptly brought a menu. I decided on a small order of cod and chips for $14.50. The restaurant seemed quite busy with takeout orders but it didn't take long to receive my food. The fish was light and flaky and the chips were crisp yet tender. The piece of fish was small but I wasn't super hungry so it turned out to be a good size. They give you an option to substitute or add coleslaw to your order but I'm not a fan of coleslaw so I stuck with the chips. This place isn't fancy but the food is good, as is the service. Worth a visit - or many visits, if you're local to the area.

Truly unbeatable Fish & Chips!! Crispy and the lightest and airiest batter I have ever tasted! You can taste the difference right in the first bite. I ordered Haddock Only and Shrimp Only. Both were very tasty. I highly recommend this place! Enjoy!

    Halibut and chips $11.50

I was in the mood for fish & chips and thought I would give this a try based Yelp's high rating. I was not disappointed. We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in the door and told we could pick our own seats. Jen brought menus right away. All three of us chose the Halibut and chips with DS opting to sub onion rings for fries and DH choosing the half coleslaw half fries option. I had to share my fries portion with them as it was huge. Jen was very attentive coming by to fill our water glasses and checking how our meal was. None of us are big on tartar, so the packets of tartar were untouched. The boys were delighted that malt vinegar was available. I was pleased with the freshness of the lemon wedges. At 55, I notice that I qualify for their Wednesday senior discount. I will be back.

    Excellent haddock and fries.

Portions seem to be getting smaller. Not sure I'll be back. We always bought from them. Last order was a lot smaller.

Review Highlights - Bounty Fish & Chips

My only minor complaint would be the tartar sauce - they serve the packets of somewhat watery tartar rather than making their own.

Portions are generous and the coleslaw and fries are amazing and complete the fish so well. I can eat just a plateful of their fries. Service is great, all the servers are so incredibly nice and friendly. It is always packed at lunch & dinner. Def a local favourite because everyone there knows each other. We tried the haddock, halibut and breaded shrimp! I wish I could have shared more photos, but when the plates are brought to the table I can't resist digging in right away! The menu options are great where you can get 3 pieces of haddock or halibut with 2 orders of fries. Lots of parking and plenty of seating inside. Takeout orders are 5% off. The menu is great with so many options! We first tried Joy's 6 weeks ago - we have been back almost every week since our first visit. When it's time to pay they give you a scratch card with your receipt - everyone is a winner. To redeem the card, spend $35 on your next visit for the free item. Some of the items you can scratch and win are , haddock & fries, halibut & fries, Joys feast special, large plate of fries. I'm sure there are more as these are just the items we have won. Options for fish and chips are very limited in Markham, so I love the option of visiting Stouffville nearby for Joy's Fish & Chips. Until next time...

I will not be back. It's a single portion of fish for $18 at the cheapest and up from there. Pros: The staff are consistently friendly and always remind you about the regular and gluten‑free menus, which offer a variety of options like fish and chips, fries, battered pineapple, and poutine. I have Celiac Disease and have eaten here many times with no issues related to cross‑contamination. My two favourites are the gluten‑free battered mushrooms with house sauce and the poutine -- both generous portions, the mini poutine fills me up. Food is made fresh to order and comes out hot. Simple ordering process you order from their food truck, which has a little sheltered interior. Typically I wait 7-15 mins for the food to be ready, theres also free condiments and seasoning that can be used, and there is a small outdoor picnic areas to sit. It's a nice spot to stop for lunch. Cons: Parking can be difficult during peak times. The food is on the expensive side, especially the gluten‑free menu (which I have to order from due to Celiac). The to‑go utensils are a bit flimsy 50% of the time the forks break, and the elastic bands use to hold the togo lids on broke on 2 out of 3 items I ordered, and one spilled my last trip, which was frustrating. (I'd get gravy on the side just next time). Sometimes the battered mushrooms have a fishy smell makes me believe they are using the same oil as the fish which i dont like, with the mushrooms being a vegetarian option. Finally they dont accept credit cards only cash and debit which may be a hassle to some. Overall I would recommend this restaurant/ food truck to others :)

Staff were really nice and they made a great recommendation with adding the carrots as a side. If i had to recommend a unique side it would be the carrots! It was so flavourful- we were all amazed by them. We had to order a steak and they really can cook these well. You can see where they fire them up on the grill. We ordered everything to share - Steak, pasta( i can't remember which one), carrots, fries, chop house potatoes, lamb chops and sticky toffee pudding. Everything we ordered and ate was absolutely delicious and I would definitely be back to enjoy another meal here! The vibe is cool in there, a good option if you're looking for a fancier dinner in the area.
