Recently we visited this place on our vacation to Key West and it was best stop of the day. The drinks were cold the water was wet and the Key lime Pie was Heavenly as in the name of the restaurant the Blue Heaven. If your lucky sit at the bar and the one eyed bartender aka Cupcake might magically make a pie appear out of nowhere aka from his ice chest just for you but only if you are worthy haha. If your there for the drinks than strike up a conversation with the Tropical Gangster aka Lucifer haha you won't regret it she will be fun and sassy! All the waiters and staff there make the atmosphere fun and playful especially the girl Aka Napkin folder she was the bar music critic for that day cranking out tunes to her likings. The food here was phenomenal! Very delicious, priced correctly. I do recommend skipping the banana bread, as it doesn't come warmed up if anything, and feels a little stale. I don't particularly care for cream so i slice this part of and enjoy a much thinner layer of key lime pie. This is a good balance of sweet and tart, but I wouldnt say it is the best I've ever had. Pro tip: expect a wait of anywhere between 45 mins on a monday at noon, to 2.5 hrs on a Sunday for brunch. Plan accordingly. I ordered pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice, which was possibly the best glass of Orange Juice I've ever had. As we dined, various feral chickens would eat with us. Fun experience. We wanted key lime pie, but we decided to return after eating. After another trip around town, we went back to the hostess and asked if we could sit at the bar and get the other frozen drink we wanted and the Key Lime Pie. She advised us to go across the street. Blue Heaven is quickly becoming a regular dining establishment for us when in Key West. The service is always amazing, the atmosphere is quintessentially Key West, and the food is outstanding. There is nothing like dining under the tropical backyard atmosphere with chickens and roosters "roosting" overhead. The live music is always great without being too loud or overwhelming. I ordered the yellowtail snapper which was melt in your mouth delicious. It was hands down the best meal I had all week. We also had the bbq shrimp as an appetizer and it was fantastic. This place is known for there key lime pie. Of course you know we had to try it, I mean look at it! Okay before I get into the pie let me tell you about the place. Everything about this restaurant embodies the Key West spirit. There is a live band playing, a ton of outdoor seating, and also chickens running around everywhere. Don't worry, if you are like me and have a little fear of birds the chickens really could care less about you. They are just looking for food. As far as the pie, I thought it was amazing! As you can see in my pictures it's as literally as big as your head. It is so light and airy and not a traditional take on key lime pie. I would say if you are visiting this is a must go to spot! It's about $13 if I remember correctly for the pie and we split it. We also got cocktails and they were great! A generous pour unlike a lot of places in Key West. I left feeling like the price of drinks were worth it. Note of caution: this is a very popular spot especially for cruise goers. There were a lot of people there who were there from there port.
