    Lobster bacon tomato omelet
    Joan L.

We went to Blue Heaven after hearing about indulgent brunch and some of the best key lime pie in Key West. One out of two was correct. The brunch was delicious. Both Husband and I ordered the special omelette, with lobster, bacon, and tomato. The dish was rich and delicious, with an entire lobster tail and plenty of bacon. To top it off, the omelette was accompanied by a slice of banana bread. We were not impressed by the key lime pie. Although the pie looks impressive, topped by a huge mound of meringue, it tasted a bit stale. Its consistency was heavy, and the meringue flavorless. Don't let the pie, however, stop you from going to Blue Heaven. The brunch is great service is friendly, and you can't beat the atmosphere, eating outdoors with the chickens and artwork. Tip: arrive early to avoid a long wait.

A friend who has a home in Key West recommended this place. Said it was a must visit spot. Once I visited, she was very correct. She warned me that either you get there early or there may be a bit of a wait. We arrived around 9am, and there was about a 30 min wait. We had a table for 4, if you were waiting for a table of 2, the wait would be longer. The nice thing is there is a little bar/coffee shop across the street with seating. You can order while you are waiting for your table. The place does only take cash though just a small note. You are seated outdoors and surrounded around trees. It is so beautiful and so Key West. The food was amazing. They are known for their lobster breakfast items. I had Lobster and Grit. In my mind I was thinking little diced up lobster but no, it is a full lobster on top of grits and it was amazing. Brunch pricing is reasonable. I was also told they have the best key lime pie, while Its not really my thing, I imagine it is because it is huge and takes up an entire plate! This is totally a spot you need to try to get into if you are in the area.

Read online that this was a must visit in key west and have to agree. The set up is nothing fancy - plastic chairs under umbrellas. It is pleasant ambiance still with lots of trees and shade (and chickens haha). Service was a bit slow but our server was doing it all - making drinks and had a huge section to tend to. She was super helpful and friendly though so no problems there. All the food was absolutely delicious. The vegetable platter was super flavorful. Loved the portobello "steak". Our server recommended the banana heaven and as a banana lover it was sooooo good!

First authentic key lime pie. I wish I would have done some research before I came to key west for what's the best and what's a tourist trap, but it was too late. The key lime pie was good! I enjoyed it. I always thought the cream on top would be more of a cream rather than what it was.. I dont know not my fave! But good overall!

A cute restaurant with a unique setting. While eating, you will have roosters running around you. The service was great and the food was delicious. My mahi mahi salad was wonderful. The fish was fresh and tasty.

Fantastic restaurant. I went for the first time ~10 years ago, and today's visit was just as good. The winning dish at the table was the special of the day- surf n turf eggs benedict (lobster and steak), but everything was delicious. The key lime pie is definitely a good one, but beware, the entire top ~4 inches of the pie is just a merengue cream. I don't particularly care for cream so i slice this part of and enjoy a much thinner layer of key lime pie. This is a good balance of sweet and tart, but I wouldnt say it is the best I've ever had. Pro tip: expect a wait of anywhere between 45 mins on a monday at noon, to 2.5 hrs on a Sunday for brunch. Plan accordingly. They have a shop across the street where you can order drinks while you wait, but this also gets pretty packed.

Such a cute and fun place for brunch. My toddler enjoyed all the chickens and live music. The key lime pie was so delicious. Worth the visit. We did have to wait an hour for before being seated, but we walked around and enjoyed the town.

Fun spot for friends and live music. It's a really cool ambiance. Just not my favorite compared to other meals. Banana bread was the highlight. Lobster grits were pretty good. Key lime pie looks cool but isn't as good as others.

I wanted to love this pie because the ambience and atmosphere of this restaurant are beyond. We were on a quest to find the best Keylime pie, and this restaurant claimed they were the top spot. This was our fourth piece of Keylime pie and unfortunately it fell short. Priced at $15 per slice I would've expected more. The meringue was sticky. The piece was tiny and the lime flavor was a bit too subtle for me.

First morning in Key West in January and counting my blessings to be out of the cold up north and enjoying breakfast with roosters running around the table. Seems normal. Ordered lots of black coffee along with a My Favorite Omelet from the menu with add ons of mushrooms and onions and a side of a slice of Betty's banana bread. All of the food and drink items were delicious. Service was too notch and the atmosphere was carefree and tropical. We also enjoyed a high spirited ping pong match at the outdoor waiting room area across the street from the Blue Heaven establishment. There was also some great classic rock music provided by a live musician on the bandstand nearby. A definite party atmosphere seemingly 24/7. Good times!

I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation and I'm glad I was able to try it prior to leaving Key West. After about an hour wait we sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and talkative. She made great drinks as well!! I ordered beef tenderloin Benedict and key lime pie for brunch. The food was good and quite filling. I wasn't impressed with the pie but I can see why others like it. The decor is eclectic and relaxed. There is a lot of history in this restaurant. I loved exploring the upstairs dining area that served as a brothel when Hemingway lived in the area. They also had live music for a bit. You won't be disappointed experiencing this restaurant if given the opportunity!

Great walk to Blue Heaven. Checked in and the wait for two persons was 1 hour and 15 minutes. Walked across the street and had some breakfast drinks...while we waited for our table. The wait ended up only being 30 minutes for "first available". The service was amazeballs, Thank You Sarah ! The food was top notch, Thank You Chef.

Blue Heaven is quickly becoming a regular dining establishment for us when in Key West. The service is always amazing, the atmosphere is quintessentially Key West, and the food is outstanding. There is nothing like dining under the tropical backyard atmosphere with chickens and roosters "roosting" overhead. The live music is always great without being too loud or overwhelming. I ordered the yellowtail snapper which was melt in your mouth delicious. It was hands down the best meal I had all week. We also had the bbq shrimp as an appetizer and it was fantastic. The bbq sauce was so unique and just simply fantastic. They have it as an entree so definitely consider that as an option. Of course no meal here is complete without their Key Lime pie for dessert. It has mountain high peaks of meringue that will tempt you all night as you watch them being brought out to other tables! We had made a reservation ahead of time by calling which I recommend doing. It is a busy and popular restaurant for a good reason.

The story behind the restaurant. Worth the read.

Ask the Community - Blue Heaven

    Non alcoholic beverages?

Yes of course. They make special coffees as well.

I'll be on a cruise is it within walking g distance from the port?

    Yes! It's a small island

    Can they accommodate large parties?

They may however, the hostess was so rude and the keylime pie was such a let down. Publix makes a better pie. I wouldn't even waste my money

    Is it Pet Friendly?

I would think yes because it's mostly outdoor tables but might be an issue because there are lots of chickens and roosters free roaming. I'd be concerned with that and chicken feces. Maybe give them a call directly.

Does the pancake at Blue Heaven contain eggs in it?

    yes

Do you recommend Blue Haven for Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

    Breakfast and dinner!

Do they use fresh pineapple in the pina colada?

    I am not sure.

How late do you serve breakfast on Sunday?

    Yes

What is the wait like on a Saturday night? We're first timers to key west, only here for one night, and don't want to miss sunset at mallory square!

I would call to check specifics. I believe they only take reservations for large groups.

    Do you take reservations?

    no they don't

    How do you make reservations?

    cant make them

Is the outdoor are dog friendly?

    Yes.

Where are the closest parking options?

Petronia Street is a small, wonderful food corridor but parking enforcement will ticket cars without residential stickers that are parked in spots marked ‘residential permit.’ Parking is easier to find down along Irma Street, just a block away.… Read more

The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dinner for two, including dessert and tip, came to about $100 -- a great value for the quality and quantity of food. El Siboney remains one of my favorite places to eat in Key West.

While I was checking it out, the bouncer at the bar next door told me it was worth a visit, which sealed the deal. Later that evening, I convinced my friends to go with me. They were expecting a full sit-down dinner, but this is more of a counter-service spot with 6-7 bar stools inside. The setup is simple: place your order at the counter, then either grab a stool or head to the bar next door, where they'll bring your food when it's ready. We chose the bar's patio, which gave us a clear view of the restaurant. It was reassuring to see other groups having their meals delivered over too--it felt like we had discovered the right local gem. The wait was about 25-30 minutes, but that only confirmed everything was being made fresh. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. Our group ordered two jerk chicken plates with plantains, mac n' cheese, and slaw; one oxtail with black beans, rice, and mac n' cheese; and one jerk burger with fries. Every single dish was a hit. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky spice and heat from the scotch bonnet peppers, balanced with bold Caribbean flavors. The oxtail was tender and flavorful, and even the sides like mac n' cheese and plantains stood out. All in all, this was easily one of the best Caribbean meals I've had anywhere.
