    Tarts

Of all the pies i had during my visit to Sydney, the pies at Bourke Street Bakery were some of the best. Really nice beef pie. Finely minced, good flavor and even ratio of pastry dough to filling. The lemon curd tart brought out an intense lemon flavor. I liked it! Their Ginger Creme Brulee tart is even better though. Good crispy top and pistachios were a nice tough. The tarts are a bit on the sweeter side.

Love the tarts, pies, sausage rolls & bread. Dont worry about the line/queue because service is always quick, but seating & parking are difficult to find.

Great food. The baked breads are to die for! However, the coffee is crap.

There was very little left in the cabinet and we ended up with a Beef Brisket Pie to share.

How lucky am I to have all these awesome cafes within walking distance? I'm stoked! And spoilt :)…read more I've had coffee here numerous times and lunch once. My lunch was so awesome. A rich, delicious, avocado and black bean huevos rancheros... I would have been pleased to be served a huevos rancheros like this in So Cal. So great! I need to drag my butt down here to eat more often.

This is an Eastern European inspired/infused cafe. Meaning that the food here is great. If you don't know what Eastern European food is like, trust me, it is meaty goodness. Now, they also serve the stock standard breakfast and sandwiches, but don't shy away from the different - as that is the best thing about eating here. The Corn fritters here are great! But don't go past the huevos rancheros, seriously worth the try. The coffee here is good, not great, but good. But this is not the reason that you come - you come here for the food. Now, the space is small, so you might have to wait. Or just get take away. They do a special if you order one of their rolls (get it is with the spiced tomatoe sauce) and coffee takeaway, so that is always an option.

Was told this place won the world best gelato in 2014, so have to check out this place. Luckily we…read morecame at the dinner time so there wasn't a line out the store and down the street as warned by the locals and reviewers here. The gelato was creamy and light, so it delivered the flavor but not too heavy that sat in stomach. We ordered the award winning flavor - Mandorla Affogato (a twist of Affogato) which has bits of caramelized almond within the creamy vanilla background. I didn't get a strong espresso flavor as it would have, but the ratio of almond bits and gelato was just right - occasionally crunchiness hidden within the creaminess of gelato. The second flavor we ordered was the poached strawberry with balsamic vinegar. The acidity from balsamic vinegar and strawberry was muted yet complimented the gelato base. It was not too sweet, yet there's a hint of the balsamic vinegar and strawberry. We were too busy getting into the gelato before taking a picture, but check out this place if you are nearby. Here are some pictures of the store, which also offers coffee and cakes.

We got lucky because after we waited to order, there was a huge line behind us. They have a variety of ice cream flavors plus other items on their menu like cakes and teas. The staff was very patient with us as my sister wanted to order a milkshake which is different in the States compared to Australia. My sister wanted to make sure that what she expected in a milkshake would be understood and reciprocated to the staff. Even though they don't normally make a milkshake like the States do, they did their best. I enjoyed my ice cream and it was perfect to end the night.

So I only tried 2 flavors and ended up with a berry flavor (names elude me weeks later). Not only did this ice cream taste amazing, but the person who'd packed the ice cream cup was super generous. Hakiki was a highlight of my tour, and I wished I'd had another opportunity to visit before my trip to Sydney ended. I'll return for sure if there is a next time!

I was psyched when I came across a deal for Hakiki--reading the great reviews on Zomato made me even more excited to try Turkish ice cream. On my last full day in Sydney, I was visiting Newtown and just couldn't wait to come here. My friend also told me great things about this place while on our way here, so I was even more excited. It's obvious this place is pretty new but has been a hit and I can see why. There are lots of Mediterranean-inspired flavors, such as Baklava, Mediterranean Mint, Turkish Delight, and date ice cream, this place easily stands out if you're looking for a sweet treat in the area. I had a scoop of the Melon & Feta and Mango & Coconut and I really enjoyed both. Both were very fragrant, and though I never thought of melon ice cream and feta cheese as a combo, having cheese in my ice cream was definitely something new (and something I don't think I'd like again), but the Melon ice cream was very delicious and perfect for a summer day. I also really liked the Mango & Coconut, especially the coconut flakes. The texture of the ice cream was really something--thick, stretchy, gum-like that is like no other. Try it for yourself--you'll really like it! Plus, the owner was very nice and gave me no problems redeeming my voucher.
