The Boutique Chocosina is in the heart of Old Montreal on Rue Saint-Sulpice. The gorgeous store is stocked with all types of chocolate, sweet treats, marshmallows, bars, gift baskets and gift boxes, bulk candy and pretty much whatever your sweet tooth desires. We picked up a small bar of salted caramel chocolate and a gorgeous chocolate bar with candied orange rind for us, and jars of caramel and chocolate covered marshmallows for the grandkids. Chocolate and orange combinations have long been a favorite of ours, and I gotta tell you, their version of this combo was fantastic. Delicious milk chocolate with a distinct undertone of orange. The weather was warmer than what we might expect for December, allowing us an opportunity to wander through Old Montreal. We went up and down the streets mostly window shopping, but we had to stop by this chocolate boutique. Inside, the shop is a sweet lover's dream. There were walls of colorful, bulk jellybeans in clear tubes, bins of sweet and tart gummies, and paint cans to be/filled with treats. On one wall, there were stacks of caramel pebbles, crunchy balls, and gummies. And by the door, there is an attractive display of sweet gifts. I went with the milk chocolate French bars. The chocolate was creamy, perfectly-tempered, and studded with milk, dark, and white chocolate pearls. I'll rate my experience at a 3.5* with the bump for the service. We came to Montreal after Christmas and we stumbled upon this store on our walk in Old Montreal. We were also trying to find a place to escape from the bitter cold that was taking place at the time. A small and clean store. The candy and chocolates were displayed nicely throughout the store. The lady working was very friendly and explained to us some of the specialty of the store including some in store chocolates that they make for sale. Prices were a little high but I'm guessing that the rent is not exactly cheap in this tourist area. We bought two of the chocolates. They weren't bad. I was looking for dark chocolate with orange peel and their choices are a 66% cacao French bar with candied orange peels or a slice of candied orange dipped in dark chocolate. Their dark chocolate French bars are vegan and gluten free and they're smooth and buttery. They also have gold bars which are chocolate coated with shimmer. read more

This was a very picturesque candy boutique and service was great in an awesome location in Old Montreal BUT I ordered several selections of beautiful chocolates (rectangle truffles?) If you look at my reviews, you can see that I review chocolate regularly. Boutique Chocosina is a cute shop obviously catering to the tourist faction that walks through the Basilica district. It carries candy and chocolate novelties. I'm a fan of handmade truffles and sought this boutique out to sample their version of truffles. The truffles were hidden around the corner of the front desk. They were brightly decorated but didn't carry the shine that well-tempered chocolate usually boasts. When I asked about source chocolate, the person behind-the-counter listed location sources (Venezuela, etc.) but didn't name a source chocolate brand or supplier (which I find to be important information). I was also informed that the store would not sell my friends individual truffles; they had to be purchased by the box. While I typically purchase a good sampling of truffles from any shop I visit, I also appreciate the ability to walk away with one or two "loose" truffles for a quick assessment of the chocolate. Chocosina offers a variety of flavors in their truffles. If you are not a chocolate connoisseur or enjoy the type of assorted chocolates you might pick up at a pharmacy, this place is for you. While the flavors are better than Russell Stover, they aren't as high-profile as what you'll find at a boutique that specializes in truffles and sophisticated flavor profiles. Again, this is not meant to dissuade anyone from visiting this shop. The place is cute and there are plenty of wonderful novelties to keep tourist families happy. read more

Super terrific boutique chocolate shop in the heart of Old Town Montreal, just a block from the Notre Dame Basilica. If you are nearby, swing by, especially if you are with your family or looking for gifts to bring home. Not only do they have a huge variety of fancy and novelty chocolates, they have beautiful packaging. I was hooked on the little chocolates that combine chocolate with marshmallow in what seemed like 25 different flavors. Immediately upon entering the store, I was offered samples of these by the extremely nice salesperson. Very unique and irresistible. A great store! I will be back! read more

Great boutique for candies! My family and I were walking in old montreal when we stumbled upon this gem of a shop. Everything about the shop is attractive and fun. The signage was cheerful, the inside of the shop was clean and so fun. My kids each got a small clear paint can and filled it up with the wall of confections--they had jelly beans, and countless gummy candies, which were all delicious. The prices were fair and everyone left happy. We sampled the chocolates which were divine and I wound up buying some tins of hard candies to bring back for friends. We look forward to going there next time! read more

With its mediocre chocolate selections, the store staffs might look nice on the surface but not so underneath. These scammers thinks they are the god till they now learn the lesson the customers are; not them. They are after their own benefit rather than what is best for customers. They'd rather scam $10 for a bad reputation and losing more money than serving customers right and make much more money for themselves instead. read more

AMAZING chocolate, great service. My only regret is not purchasing more. I bought a chocolate candied orange bar (vegan) to bring home. The chocolate is so smooth and I love the hint of orange. Upon walking into the shop we were greeted and served a few samples. I was convinced on supporting this business based on excellent service, however the product also speaks for itself. Bad experience, like a past review from Julie C. I usually try chocolate whenever I am on vacation somewhere in the world. No surprise that Amsterdam stands out. Happened to be in old Montreal a couple of weeks ago and saw this shop. We bought four chocolates, "ganache" (or truffle filling) as I was informed by the owner, James (via e-mail). These were expensive and had very little flavor and in my opinion were not fresh. With one, all I tasted was plain chocolate filling, not the promised flavor, as advertised (so nondescript I couldn't even remember it). I voiced my opinion to the owner and what he told me was I had been the first customer in over 2 years to complain about their product. I have a difficult time believing that statement. I asked if there was a way I could be reimbursed. He offered me a taste test before I buy as "good faith" the next time I was in his store. Well that won't ever happen!! What a terrible way to do business. I refuse to go down without a fight, if I purchase an inferior product of any kind, ganache included! Don't waste your money at Boutique Chocosina, you'll be better off with a KitKat or a caramilk bar! Anne N. read more
