He was great, and I believe he still is. I had numerous appointments with him without insurance, typically paying about a hundred dollars whenever I could afford it. I was under the impression that his services were essentially free, as I never received a bill and costs were never discussed with me. The staff knew I had no insurance or job, yet I continued to pay what I could because Dr. Smigielski was so nice and kind. Eventually, I found a job and got insurance, which I was relieved to learn the dentist accepted. I continued visiting the office, but again, I never received any bills or requests for copays--nothing at all. I paid the office a hundred dollars here and there during my appointments, but I never received any receipts or breakdowns of my bills or outstanding balance. As time went on, I was injured at work and ultimately lost my job. Now, I am disabled and covered under my wife's insurance. Recently, I received a bill from the dentist's office for over four thousand dollars. One of the staff members called and threatened me, stating that if I didn't pay by a specific date, they would send the bill to collections, and Dr. Smigielski would no longer treat me. I offered to set up a payment plan, but they rejected my proposal. Subsequently, they sent the bill to collections. I don't fully understand how insurance works, but it appears something went wrong when they billed my wife's insurance, and they wouldn't cover it. I am very disappointed because the staff members who handle calls have been rude and unprofessional. I feel I didn't do anything wrong to deserve this treatment, and being unable to see my dentist anymore feels heartless. I've noticed several similar reviews recently, indicating that the office is beginning to treat patients poorly. I genuinely wish Dr. Smigielski the best and hope he can resolve the issues within his office before losing more patients.

If you're not familiar with the area, you should definitely leave early. I was slightly late due to this very issue. I was greeted warmly, but there seemed to be more questions about insurance. All insurance information had been taken care of. There was a continuous theme: money. They were already charging me for the x-ray but wanted my insurance so they could bill the insurance and reimburse me if the insurance covered it. The problem is, I would never know.......... The staff didn't seem knowledgeable or trustworthy. After paying for the cost of the 3D x-ray, she didn't verify my email address and sent my receipt to the wrong email address. I had to ask for an itemized bill because the receipt was only for the transaction and not what I paid for. The most interesting part, the visit only took 20 minutes total. Oh, and there was nothing wrong. The doctor and nurse practitioner seem fine. The doctor explained the issue but gave me nothing about what he explained. Did I mention, the expensive x-ray, they absolutely needed to diagnose my potential issue, I never saw it. I left feeling ripped off. I will never comeback here..........

So when I got a nasty infection under a wisdom tooth earlier this summer, I was recommended to Hugh Marchmont by my current dentist to have all my wisdom teeth extracted before anything got worse. You probably guessed it, I was terrified. So I came back from my San Diego vacation, and anxious awaited my appointment... I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted with nitrous oxide. My nurse/assistant was amazing. She answered every small question I had and even chatted with me a bit before the gas to help me be comfortable. I knew what to expect for the most part. Dr. Marchmont-Robinson had my teeth out in what felt like maybe 25-35 minutes tops. I was numbed up and the nitrous had me so calm as I listened to my phone in the chair. The whole procedure took an hour and most of that is waiting for the numbing to kick in fully. I had no reason to be scared, it was so simple. For two months, she saw him weekly in the office (for no charge), just to get him comfortable. Would speak to him, let him touch the equipment. Started by just touching his lips, to touching one tooth to finally being about to clean his teeth. How could you not love someone who has such compassion and respect for your children?
