That aside, the hotel caters for all types, especially weddings. I stayed here for the first time three years ago for the Great North Run and on each and every occasion since, they have always shown us nothing but hospitality. One of the reasons I choose to stay here is that they have always been able to conjure up a meal of my choosing, but the choice from the set menu is always pleasing, they also cater for the carvery brigade which is nice if you like carvery's! They also have a good selection of wines and some regular and local beers. NB: if you are visiting Newcastle then this place is located approx. 6 miles from central station, or to put it another way a £15 cab ride! But their are some great eateries in Newcastle which I will post reviews for later.

I have got to admit the service was absolutely spot on - no problems at all. The staff were friendly and handled the meals and the drinks efficiently and professionally. The meals themselves were very well made and I enjoyed every course of the set menu, something which I don't do very often as I am particularly picky. I personally would go back for a meal or just the odd drink here and there. The bar served a variety of drinks, as you would expect including a variety of local ales.

If you've seen one Premier Inn then you've seen them all.........or have you?…read moreBecause it's shoe horned into one of the original quayside buildings this particular Premier Inn has a bit of character. It is a bit of a warren of a place with weird lifts that only take you to certain floors (make sure you choose the right one). My room was literally in the attic so, if I climbed up to the window, I had a great view over the tyne and felt as though I was almost within touching distance of the Tyne Bridge. The room, incidentally, was enormous. I found the staff here extremely friendly and helpful with advice regarding parking and offers to serve a meal in our room for a poorly child. Because it is on the Quayside there is limited parking and a two hour maximum stay during the day for on street spaces. The Premier Inn offers some parking at £7 per day but this needs to be booked in advance (not clear when booking on line). The staff did however direct us to alternative parking nearby which worked out cheaper if you were planning to spend the day in Newcastle. There are absolutely oodles of small eateries on the doorstep and so much variety at such reasonable prices that I longed to grab some foodie friends and stay here until bellyburst.

This is a nice * country house hotel originally built a few hundred years ago. There is an annex…read morewith another 15 rooms which has been added about 20-ish years ago. The original rooms can be large with four-posters available, while the annex is more of a standard hotel room. I've found these rooms to have quite short baths so don't expect to stretch out if you're over 5'2" The hotel has free WiFi but other than the main area it is a bit flaky on reception and drops out quite a bit, cellular signals bounce off the stone too but outside it is a reasonable strength, all rooms have free-view. This is a pleasent hotel to stay in but it is the restaurant that makes it worth the drive when i'm working in the area. Hansards has 2 rosettes and has a fixed price 3 course dinner for about £19 with some suppliments for extras. This is well worth the money and I recommend you take the DBB rate when you book your stay, it works out cheaper. There is no pool or gym here but it would seem out of place if there were. I have given * rating as there is nother really outstanding about this hotel but it is well run with pleasent staff and a good restaurant, what more do you need when your working away from home but they do need to get the reliability of the WiFi sorted out. All of my collegues stay here too so that's a fair recomendation. X = You've gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they're doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

So I checked into this B&B, and hoo-boy was it the discovery…read more A small smattering of rooms make up this B&B, but from what I could tell from my room (The Sewing Room), each is lovingly looked after. The room was of a vintage style, yet with modern creature comforts so that you're left without wanting. Free WiFi is included in the rate, as well as a breakfast bag to wake up to in the morning. The landlady was really nice and friendly too, which makes a fantastic difference. Recommended!

A true Find, i stay in darlington often and have struggled to find anything just a little…read moredifferent, one hotel to another i feel i wake up in the same place. well not anymore this place is so different i would actually like to buy it to live in myself. great location just a few doors down from my favorite "The Tapas Bar" for some dinner after spending the day with customers, then a hop in to the most comfortable bed i have slept in years. For £49 a night I got a very clean and spacious room with a comfortable double bed, TV, a decent sized writing desk with stationery, a comfy armchair, tea/coffee and biscuits plus more than enough wardrobe space for 2 people. The staff on reception were helpful and friendly. As this is a budget hotel there wasn't a restaurant on the premises but there was a Beefeater next door which served the same purpose. There's also a small shopping centre with a large Morrisons approx 2 minute away which is very handy.
