The coffee is well made, and Sarah is a warm and friendly barista who is always pleasant no matter what time of the day it is. Dream Cuisine is located in a small set of shops in Glendowie, so mostly the patrons are locals; however if you are visitor to the city and were curious to venture into the suburbs of Auckland, then Dream Cuisine could be a stop to refuel on your way to or from the beach down the road. Dream Cuisne offers cabinet food as well as a small selection of brunch meals, such as French toast, scrambled eggs and also the Mediterranean falafel platter, which i can confirm was pretty delicious. You can also pick up some tasty frozen meals from the freezer at Dream Cuisine, or alternatively there is a range of homemade chutneys and dips to choose from. Dream Cuisine also operates as a catering company for all sorts of occasions, from cocktail do's to weddings.

The range of food offered for the menu was wide and varied and pretty good for the price. The buffet included 3 roast meats, two hot dishes, seafood dishes, hot vegetables, salads, and desserts. There was certainly plenty of food for everyone and no complaints at all about quality. They perhaps struggled to keep up with demand occasionally but the food did keep coming. The venue is pretty cool. It operates as a restaurant and an event venue in an old refurbished dairy factory. I didn't see it all but I believe they have a few separate function rooms for different size groups and occasions. They also have some fairly large outdoor areas. We were in the Game Keepers restaurant which had a dining room and bar inside with the food presented on the covered patio outside. There is also a garden area outside. The dining room seating was a little crowded leaving some people to prefer taking their meal outside to an unset table. A little disappointing since We paid a $500 venue fee. This did give us exclusive use of the area though. They also charge a %2 credit card surcharge. I'm not a fan of this practice and I don't believe it's widespread in the catering industry. There are arguments for and against this but each individual will decide whether it's acceptable. It should be noted though that they generously agreed to invoice us and let us pay in a few days - this was a kind gesture that many wouldn't offer.

It's hard to recommend one thing over the other here because everything I've ever bought here is very very good, but my favourites are the small "health rolls" (wholemeal rolls with seeds and nuts) and at the other end of the health spectrum, the Matterhorns: cones of alcohol-soaked sponge covered in chocolate. They also sell a small range of Swiss smallgoods, such as salamis and other preserved meats. Finally, they're always very friendly here and happy to have a chat and recommend a particular bread for what you'd like it for, and everything is at a really good price.

We took the ferry from town to Beachlands, which was a lovely start to the day and then were picked up and taken to the Zen Garden. We drove along a beautiful long driveway that seemed to go on for forever. When we got to the end of the driveway there was a huge Chinese inspired house had a 360 view over the harbour. The first part of our day was work and then we stopped for a beautiful gourmet barbeque lunch. After lunch we did all sorts of activities around the property. They have tennis, a massive spa pool, clay bird shooting, petanque, and so much more. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and it's clear the venue would be even better for a wedding as there is accommodation on site for your guests to stay the night. Bliss.
