I love this place and love shopping here, but my SILVER & TURQUOISE ring was FAKE. I paid OVER $300 for it. Within 24 HOURS of gifting it to someone they let me know that THEIR FINGER TURNED GREEN and the inside material has rubbed off. I even explained it to the clerk that it was supposed to be a wedding ring. They even gave me a certificate of authenticity! My fiancé and I have split, but I still gave him the ring to wear on a different finger. But sent me a picture and you could clearly see the initial layer rubbed off. I am so pissed because I come to this place every time I pass by, which is not very often. Oh, and I love the fact that they have no return policy to boot. Adventuring across the country requires lots of bathroom breaks as well as allowing time to stretch our legs when we aren't on the road. Bluewater Outpost had clean bathrooms, a Dairy Queen attached for treats, and a nice sized store to look around. Ranging from a few dollars to "don't knock that over, I can't afford to buy it". My husband picked up a few trinkets while I was using the restroom. Worth a stop if you need to use the restroom or stretch from driving/sitting. read more

The fireworks are a little pricey but probably the best deals you get in the state. Plus they carry more brands than just the usual TNT or black cat. They seem to care a lot about keeping their customers. read more

It was time for lunch and a break so when he saw the multitude of signage for this place he decided we should stop. It was a cool multi-store. A Dairy Queen, gift store, fireworks store and gas station. I had a chili cheese dog meal with medium fries and a drink. I wanted a small chocolate shake and the server offered to substitute my drink for that which I appreciated. He had a quarter pound cheeseburger meal with cheese curds. The food was average. Not all the cheese was melted on my chili dog and the dog itself tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. The restrooms in the store were not bad considering the amount of traffic it seemed to have. There were lots of cool metal decor and signage in the gift area. And unique items I haven't seen before. American Indian attire, souvenir tshirts, moccasins and other Knick knacks. There was a convenience store for snacks and drinks as well. And three packed shelving units of fireworks. Something for everyone. The service was polite and the store clean. The DQ area could have been cleaner but it appeared as if they couldn't keep up even with the many people working behind the counter. Some customers were angry that the Coke dispenser had no coke syrup mixed in. But for us it was a nice break at an interesting store. read more

As we were traveling the roads for days, we stopped by this trading post for a break. A young women employee was the only one who approached my husband and me. All the other employees seemed to ignore us and not wanting to help anyone. A young women who was extremely kind and was able to answer all my question I had about products in the store. This employee was very well mannered and knowledgeable, which now days is hard to come by. She helped me pick out a beautiful piece of jewelry I was buying for a gift and explained the difference in the turquoise's and other gifts as well( magnets, a pair of moccasins and souvenirs! Of course my husband wanted to buy a few fireworks as well. She was kind enough to walk him through the different ones and would show us videos. All the other employees basically ignored us and just stood around , she had blonde curly hair, I only remembered her name because my daughter love Disney character princess Jasmine . The only reason I am rating five stars is because of this young lady other than that it would be at maybe a 2 if it wasn't for her outstanding customer service and knowledge! read more

I was looking at the fridge magnets and one of them fell because they were stacked together but I didn't break them. Then I heard the lady in the counter making comments about people touching their merchandise and breaking them. When I was about to pay, the cashier who looks like she doesn't like what she's doing, told me in a rude tone to come to different register and after paying, she handed me my items and said "Here you go!" in a dismissive tone. I remember stopping but there seem to be several of these stops with similar names that they are starting to run together. However, I do remember this one so let me tell yall about this place. You can find the typical NM souvenirs here, T-shirts, mugs, keychains, magnets, jewelry, etc. They also have imported goods from Mexico like blankets and hoodies. Big selection of assorted knick nacks. On one part of the building they have a DQ, I did not purchase anything from there but it seems to get a constant flow of customers so I can only assume they were good. This place was pretty big and some parts of the store look like they needed some dusting and some cleaning. I got a mug for mom (I always get her mugs wherever I go). I did not use the bathrooms or filled up on gas because I just wanted to stretch out my long tan legs. read more

Ok, we headed in here knowing it was a tourist trap- so keep that in mind, but it was a wholesome family owned kind of touristy stop. Picked up some neat memorabilia and used the bathroom here- the bathrooms were SO CLEAN! definitely a step up from some of the rest areas- so note that as well! The staff was super friendly, you can buy anything from fireworks to jewelry to snacks and food (Dairy Queen!), clothes, authentic moccasins and more! DON'T STOP, KEEP DRIVING. You are better off peeing outside across the street in the "overflow parking lot. Or wait a few miles for the Petro going Eastbound. We saw dozens of signs about clean bathrooms, gifts, etc. all the hype-don't buy it! Stopped to use the bathroom. 3 employees standing at the front doing nothing. Gift shop was lack luster to say the least as I walked past 3 shelves of fireworks going to the restrooms. Door was open and it smelled foul. Probably because I found at least 2 of 4 toilets were clogged with serious amounts of human excrement. The door to the stall I did use was stained with something brown, and the toilet seat covered with pee. That was improvement over stalls 2&3. Stall 4 had piles of tp on the floor visible from the entry, so I cannot attest for what would be found in there. The sinks were caked with soap/covered in water from the major usage it gets with no cleaning. I didn't bother to use the hand dryer more than 2 seconds. Just wanted to get the hell out of this place. Don't encourage them to carry on by making any purchases at this slumlord-run filthy business. And in the days of COVID-utter disgrace. read more

We love this place! It a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Walk around the huge store of authentic Indian arts, crafts, jewelry and some of the cheaper tourist souvenirs. Clean bathrooms, and a Dairy Queen for your ice cream fix. It has a huge parking lot so its easy for larger RVs and trucks with trailers, even semi trucks to stop. PSST!!! Check out my photos...they are definitely worth more than the typed tripe down below... So driving along Interstate 40 going East starting at Barstow and then studded by Needles, Flagstaff, Gallup, and finally Albuquerque, you don't really see much except for desert, rock formations, and some random fake-me-out tepees and shanties selling so-called Native American souvenirs. Oh...and you see the occasional shops that literally sell rocks as well. BUT, as the sun always rises, you can rely on an institution of Americana, the Dairy Queen. How is it that I've never been to a DQ my 8 years in LA, but have been to 3 so far on my short trip? Well, that's because there is a DQ about every 90 (at least) miles or so. And thank the good lord, because where else are you gonna pee and treat your fat ass to a Blizzard? Well, this DQ at the Bluewater Outpost is even more special. It is so outrageous that I had to surreptitiously take photos and keep from laughing out loud. First off, the clever ad-men (I'm guessing these aren't the guys from Saatchi and Saatchi) start you salivating for a Blizzard about 10 miles before you hit the place with billboard after numbing bright, yellow billboard (in the Las Vegas style of trying to get you to go to whichever $5.99 breakfast buffet or steak and eggs deals). But guess what? It worked on me! You get off the 40 and you turn left on to a dusty road leading to a dusty parking lot. Across the way is a dusty parking lot for RVs and semi's....how considerate. There is literally NOTHING else there. That's it. Now it looks like a rather large red-roofed DQ from the outside, but step inside, children and behold the spectacle that awaits you. Try not to cry when you see some of the more creepy souvenirs: there was an amazingly life-like bunny (you know, I have a thing for bunnies) in the stuffed animals section so I reached out to touch it...and it was HARD. I think it was a taxidermy-ed bunny....ewwww!!!! Over to the left is a section that is not partitioned off with fake wood-paneled booths and the DQ counter. I will admit that I did get a Reese's peanut butter cup Blizzard (my favorite) and the girl who made my Blizzard actually turned the cup upside down and shook it to show me how thick it was. That alone right there makes this a 5-star institution! I walked around the store savoring every last bit of my supremely thick Blizzard while perusing the paraphernalia. The Outpost offered up everything from $9.99 leather vests to those Southwestern-motif-ed scratchy blankets/ponchos to .925 Sterling Silver (don't know what .925 means) jewelry to wood carved seals and other creatures (that are clearly NOT endemic to the Southwest) to FIREWORKS!!!! Tchotchkes galore! A Midwestern mom's delight! Chili pepper souvenirs! In the immortal words of Depeche Mode, I just can't get enough. After living in seemingly cosmopolitan big cities, one can tend to get jaded; we're always looking for the next hip thing and it can get a little contrived and suck the lifeblood out of you. And then it's all about conformity in it's own little ironic way, isn't it? It's the little places like this that bring you back down to earth. I LOVE that places like this still exist...a return to shameless good old fashioned capitalism that isn't shrouded in uber-chic packaging and trying to trick all of us who only THINK that we're clever. read more

While making our trip to the Four Corners Monument we decided to drop in here after seeing the signs on the highway. From the hype we thought that it was going to be an incredibly large building like South of the Border or Wall Drugs, but in the end it was a small store. This store did have a decent selection of souvenir items as well as fireworks, but the prices here were high for the items being sold. The staff was polite, but weren't looking to exchange pleasantries. In the end it was a good stop to stretch our legs and use the restrooms, but we didn't but much because we knew that we could find it cheaper at another store along our travels. read more

Definitely a place to stop by! Beautiful crosses. And gorgeous jewelry on sterling silver. Fireworks,toys, hand made knives, tons of neat socks,moccasins, artifacts and so much more!! I stopped here and OMG!! yes it's very over priced and the beds were not stable. it was so hot in the room because of the pilot light from the heater was on. the bathroom was semi clean. on top of that I woke up in the middle of the night bumped up really bad. the room had bed bugs. I was bitten on my neck and my right hand. I slept on top of the blanket. the night Auditor was nice but please do not stay here. read more

Mean staff. Poor service. Infection Control. Older female with glasses, short hair, was extremely rude,m. She tried to make a point of not being courteous. While cleaning the tables, she displayed a total disregard of hygiene by partially wiping the tables. This place is a rip off, do not stop for gasoline if you can possibly go elsewhere. The price was $3.80 when gas was available in Milan, just down the road, for $3.30. Additionally, snacks were very expensive. read more

DQ was terrible! Took forever to make pretzel stix. Chick wrap and chilli dog! Stoof and watched him, all they do is zap cheese, chilli sauce (in syrofoam containers) even thr chicken!! Put cheese on chilli dog which I didnt order! Then tbe guy outfront asks if I want a cone free when my order is done! Should have asked 20 mins ago so I could eat it while i waited... Food would have been even colder after the cone! read more
