I rented a 15 passenger van months prior and had no issues. The staff was friendly and pickup at airport was efficient (you just need to find the pickup location first). The van needed more cargo room and Rugged helped out by offering to take out back row. On another trip a car rental place in Calgary wouldn't keep the back row in their rental place for us even though it was out of their own van and in their own facility. Sometimes business policies just baffle the heck out of me. This vehicle got us through the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park with no issues. Easy to drive, but you better know how to drive a long vehicle. Knowing how to back one up helps as well. I am from the city where there are way too many cars and space on streets would make you clench your fists over the steering wheel trying to get past on-coming cars but I've mastered city driving so if needed if I needed to drive the van sideways and up walls there would be no problem. Upon returning the vehicle we had a few miles over and they explained all the items and charges clearly including the charge for extra mileage. I personally have getting surprises on my billing statements as it throws my accounting off. Their facility is off property so the ride will take about 10-15 minutes. Vehicle was clean and operated well throughout the almost two weeks we had it rented for. The radio has a CD player but no USB connector, BUT has an earphone jack. What this means is if you bring an mini earphone jack for your iphone or ipod you can listen to your own music through the radio. Passenger door for our van was only on one side. There was the requisite cigarette lighter power jack, and one power jack for AC conversion. Great place and great staff. Best of all if you've been on rental car lines.. there was no line here!

It's cheap compared to what can go wrong. Just saying. Squaring off the turns can be a lot more difficult than it sounds and I was used to driving my dad's 24' Lazy Daze RV. I can also say I did need to call Penske on the road and they were responsive and super helpful.

As the Army was paying for it, cost was not a concern, only timeliness. When I called Uhaul, the earliest they could reserve us a truck was 1:30pm on Saturday. When we called Penske they gave us their "GUARANTEE" that there would be a truck waiting for us at the Spanish Fork, UT Home Depot at 7am. 7am rolls around, friends and family are there and ready to go....And surprise, the truck won't be there until 9am....They give us some excuse about it being driven in from another state. 9am rolls around, and still no truck, 11am is the next supposed benchmark. No real excuse this time. 11 am and no truck. "It will definitely be there by 1pm." 1pm comes by and Surprise! No Truck. FINALLY!!!! They call us at 1:30pm. They have a truck for us. In West Valley....A 3 hour round-trip from Nephi. So we called UHAUL back and to our surprise, they actually had a truck there at the time they promised they would. Penske makes their truck availability guarantee without actually having trucks available. They just set up as many reservations as they can and hope that they can shake a truck out somewhere. And since it's now the day of your move, it's too late for you to find anyone else so you're generally stuck with them. Our movers were stuck at our house the entire day as they piece meal strung us along for hours at a time, and in the end most ended up not being able to come help unload as we didn't get there until 11pm. FYI, no one with any authority whatsoever is "available" on Saturday to field questions or complaints. In addition when I first called they were going to charge nearly 75 cents per mile. I mentioned I had concerns and they dropped it to 65 cents. I mentioned my concerns again(none of which had anything to do with cost....) and suddenly the charge was 50 cents a mile. So if for some reason you go with these guys, make sure to haggle a bit and they will drastically drop the price. Uhaul was over a hundred and fifty dollars cheaper on their first quote, and met their original commitment. NEVER GO WITH PENSKE!!!!!

We had a reservation with this company for a truck rental. Everything was entered online for the…read morereservation including the payment method. They even reached out to us to let us know that if we didn't cancel with 24 hours notice they could charge us - so clearly they have the card on file. Anyhow, we get there and they tell us they have to swipe the PHYSICAL card - which obviously I didn't bring with me because, you know, it's 2026 so it's loaded on Apple Pay, so we had to truck all the way back to my daughters house to get it. If they require a physical card, then that should be CLEARLY disclosed at the time the reservation is made. The attitude of the staff worker who was there at the time also didn't help. The truck itself wasn't great and as soon as we drove it off the lot the tire sensor light went on. I had to pull off the highway to check the tires . Also, PLENTY of parking in their parking lot but they wouldn't allow us to leave our car there and made us find street parking. What kind of way is that to treat a paying customer?

Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more I booked an SUV with Budget six months before our trip, thinking that reserving that far in advance would ensure we had the vehicle we needed. Instead, Budget called me just one hour before our trip to tell me they did not have a vehicle available for us. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've had this happen with Budget. We have experienced similar problems multiple times, which makes their reservation system feel completely unreliable. A reservation should mean that a vehicle will actually be available, especially when it was made six months in advance. Finding out only an hour before leaving put us in an extremely difficult position and created unnecessary stress at the very start of our trip. Based on our repeated experiences, I can no longer recommend Budget. Their lack of reliability and last-minute communication have been unacceptable. We will be using a different rental car company in the future.
