As you enter you are greeted by several aisles of various grocery items from pots and pans to spices, rice, canned goods and other things but with one big difference from other corner grocery stores as this one caters to the Indo-Pakistan clientele or folks looking for something a bit different than what is offered at Kroger or HEB! I met the young man behind the counter where you can order food to eat at their small sitting area or to take away, he is the owners son and was so friendly and helpful at advising me on what was offered on the menu. Everything is made cooked to order so you are encouraged to browse the store while he gets your food ready. They have a full butcher shop that handles meat in the Halal tradition, which to be honest treats the animals with respect before they are to be dispatched. They had several cuts of lamb, beef and chicken as well as goat and they can custom cut orders. Keep in mind a regular chain grocery store only receives meat in what are called packer cuts, never the entire animal. Here you can even pick out and purchase your choice of meat and they will dispatch it and butcher it to your order. They also sell their pre-made kebab for you to take home and grill. In the end I had an order of the Vegetable Samosa to start and the Chicken Kebab Naan Roll. I think it ran around $11 and the Naan roll was large and very filling, you can get it with fries but I decided to just have the roll. It was a bit spicy which I liked. The potato filling for the Samosa was very tasty with wonderful spices. I was so hungry I ate it up and forgot to take a picture! This is the place to come when you need spices from this region including the Middle East, spices like cumin, chili powders and the more unusual for a western menu like Fenugreek seed, cumin seed, mace and many more. They have lots and lots of pre-mixed spices for kebabs, curries and favorites like Chicken Tikka. This specific store front can get pretty packed for parking due to the lunch crowd for neighboring restaurants and the Farnham location seems to have a better walk in selection. My items also came in a "Diet Gourmet" bag. I remember when that company was around before all the other companies came to play. Well, TruMeals and Diet Gourmet are now streamlining and TruMeals will be the main line to carry on from the conversation I had with the friendly store front person.
