I placed a pick up order through the app. I was a little concerned about selecting a time range (not knowing when it would actually be traffic during the window I selected). My order was ready when I arrived which was during the windows. There is plenty of parking but the shopping center is shared with other restaurants so it can get busy. I was greeted when I walked in. I checked my bag and noticed one of the sauces I ordered n the side wasn't packed so I let the employee know and he took care of it. My bowl (salad with lobster and tuna) was very fresh and yummy. I didn't feel like there was enough salad so I ended up adding some spinach I had at home toward the end of my bowl because there were so many toppings. That's a problem I am not complaining about. Having officially moved to Houston, I was excited to try this place right around the corner from me! We've ordered to go from this spot twice now and both times the food was on point with the fast-casual style perfect for a healthier option than some other fast food. I appreciated the employee who assembled our bowl as they were very thorough with checking in to make sure we were happy with the amounts we were being served of ingredients and sauce. The spot itself was small but had some tables and bar seating, and seemed relatively clean. Beyond the poke, they also had a fridge of drink options, spam musubi, and some cookies or brownies to go. I got a salmon bowl with toppings and OG shoyu sauce. The bowl had a good ratio of rice to ingredients, didn't have clumped or undercooked rice, and the "light" sauce gave it a nice sweet and savory flavor without being overpowering. The service is always great, but my cousin and I were especially impressed with Adam and Nevaeh. We went there on Saturday 12/14 for their Buy One get One free event at around 5pm. It was drizzling at the the same so there were not many customers in the store. Adam helped both of us assemble our bowls. He was very friendly and patient as we made our choices. For a city that seemingly has all the world's cuisines (#1), a sore subject has been the abysmal Hawaiian food scene that is a poor attempt or national chain. Pokéworks is part of the latter, which is a more acceptable outcome than the alternative (#2). It is far from ideal but has managed to help me scratch the itch whenever I'm looking for a taste of Hawaii. The fast casual setup is ideal for people who are on the go. Takeout is encouraged here, mainly due to lack of seating (More like a wall counter) and the minimal staffing. It's a solid lunch option in the area and a good place for a snack. Parking is a cinch since it shares the same lot as Costco and LA Fitness. The poke is not going to be life-changing, but it can be a solid fix for anyone who's looking for it. The ahi tuna and plethora of salmon options are on full display. I don't know now if anyone is allowed to sample, but I've been fortunate to have each one here. The umami ahi and yuzu ponzu salmon are the ones to get for me, and I tend to get the combination of both proteins. The bang bang chicken and sweet shoyu tofu options are a bit laughable but may work for those with certain dietary restrictions. The poke burrito is a bit disappointing sometimes since the rice is heavy, but the fish is minimal. While I don't mind their mini musubi, I do mind the price. I'm not even sure if this is the best location in Houston, but I can attest that it is a solid option for anyone who is in the area and craving poke with minimal expectations. You can get as many toppings as you want and proteins include tofu, chicken, salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, as well as spicy tuna and spicy salmon. My got-tos are two scoops of salmon and one scoop of tuna. The ingredients are very fresh and portions generous. By the time you get to the end of the line your bowl is brimming with so many toppings that it looks like a little mountain. I enjoy the pokeworks classic dressing as well as the ponzu shoyu. If you're not sure which one to get, you can ask for a sample and the friendly staff will happily let you try. Seriously, every time I've come I've always been impressed with the service and attitude of the staff here. My husband asked for a water cup with a lid for our toddler, and the worker went to the back and looked up and down for awhile (we could see him) before returning with a brand new package of cups and lids that he opened in front of us. They also serve you with a smile, so you don't feel bad for getting every single topping, lol. I have to say this is quite rare for a fast food joint. Definitely contributes to a good dining experience! My only complaint (hence 4.5 stars) is that the rice in the spam musubi is mushy, and that just really bothers me. I've been watching for the opening ever since they posted their sign out front; and then Covid hit and it was delayed cause there wasn't work done for a long long time. Welp, the day has finally arrived that we saw a big huge "Open" banner in front and in the back of their store! Bf and I were looking for a place to get take-out for dinner one night and decided it was time to try Pokeworks! I mean, they've only been opened for about 2 weeks but I'm surprised we didn't get over here sooner! Located right in the left corner of the shopping complex on Weslayan, in the same complex as Costco, CC Nails, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. Tons of parking out front. We live right in the area so decided to walk on in. Masks required and nobody in the store at the time except for 2 employees. I told him (the guy working the front) that this was my first time at a Pokeworks and he was super super nice! Walked me through the whole process. The bf ordered a prefixed bowl item on the menu and I just walked through the line and customized my own - kinda like a poke Chipotle! First off your base: brown rice, white rice, noodles, salad, etc.. the options are endless. Then comes your protein - Ahi Tuna, Salmon, Spicy Tuna, etc - I can't remember all the options but just to list a few. You can customize the number of scoops of protein by the size. Now the sauce and the toppings! Lots of items to choose from - jicama, corn, nori, seaweed salad, etc etc. There's also tea and a cold fridge with drinks in the front if you'd like a drink as well! The portion size was pretty filling - we were both full before we finished our bowls. The flavors were good - though go light on the sauce to get the full taste of the fish. I find that if you go heavy, you lose a lot of the flavors of the poke bowl. Ingredients tasted fresh - though I wish the fish was kept at a colder temperature! Service - horrible. I ordered online for delivery from the Pokeworks website. The order was first delayed an hour and then cancelled an hour and half later. When I saw the notification, it told me to talk the store. So I called them, hoping to get a resolution. Instead, I was told the order was picked up by a DoorDasher awhile ago and not thier fault, yet the Pokeworks website told me to talk to them. I asked to speak to a manager, which they refused but they did call thier manager behind the scenes. The manager also refused to help and refused to speak to me. So still hungry, I drove to store to talk in person. Again they said it was my fault for using the Pokeworks website, I should have used an different app. So again I requested to speak to manager, but they refused and called the manager in the back and refused to let me talk to the manager. Instead, they said I could come back tomorrow and talk to him. They never apologized. They never took ownership for my poor experience. They eventually agreed to make me my order and refund the delivery fee...after 20 minutes of talking after my order was 1.5 hrs late!! And the worst part is the food is good. We've ordered from this place just about every week for months! And this is how they treat a loyal repeat customer!! 4 times within the last 6 months I have walked in for pick-up orders from this location and not only were they not ready, the team didn't even see my order. Twice I saw they didn't know about the order because they were in the back goofing off- they were clearly surprised to see me and my printed out order on their machine when they finally walked out of the back. I love Pokeworks and I love that it's conveniently next to my apartment building. I'm getting to a point where I don't know if I wanna come back to this location, because I get a mixed experience w/ staff anytime I go in, sometimes nice and most of the times I feel like I'm bothering them, nasty attitude, the lack of friendliness and cold customer service. Last night (06.17.10 around 8:30p) in particular was my "yeah... f*** this place" moment... I walked in, 3 staff members on duty, two making online orders and one young lady taking care of my order. As I'm about to order my neighbor walks in w/ her husband and we have a quick "hi/hello" moment, the young lady sternly says "WHAT TWO PROTEINS!?" I tell her my options and every step after that was "UH HUM" in a very aggressive, condescending, hurry up, your getting in my nerves kinda tone. No eye contact, no friendliness, very cold and annoyed by me. I sensed an uncomfortable tension, without knowing why... I even had to ask her if she was ok, because I sensed her energy, wasn't sure if something about me was bothering her, but I was made to feel stupid for even asking. After I left feeling frustrated for how I was treated, I walked over to the tea shop next door and coincidentally my neighbors walked in behind me, first thing they asked was "hey, what happened with that girl, she seemed upset/annoyed by you or having to be there in general??" Immediately I felt better know it wasn't me overthinking and that someone else noticed too. Customer service and friendliness goes a long way, please encourage and teach staff members to have more patience and courtesy. There's so little room, they can barely add & it piles after so many adds ons. And I ordered salad only as my base so I barely got any salad & salad is flat when weighed down when anything added on to & the heavier the add o s get If, the more the salad is flattened. I had 3 proteins & If I added half more of what I wanted for add ons, there would be no room. And in response to how the company has reduced their bowl sizes, the persons preparing the food have to add very little of everything to fit it in the bowl. Again, not the location or person preparing's problem cuz they are only working with what they have. The bowls size reduction is from the company itself & they are at fault. Then you add the increase I prices & it's better to try & find another pokebowl place or just make something at home. Or wait for some promotion that may justify the price vs what you get. It was absolutely delicious quick breakdown of my booowll, I ordered a regular size with rice, shrimp, spicy salmon, which I had them torch green onions all the peppers, seaweed salad I had a half and half of the Sriracha aïoli and a Serano aïoli, which honestly is the best combination you can think of - PSA- if you ever go to Pokéworks Anywhere you have to try the mixture of the Serano aïoli and the Sriracha aïoli it is amazing. Then I thought the ball off with crispy onions and garlic.
