I worked with Jason for a couple years, in 2019 I took only two bids, and decided to use Jason. after paying him we set a date to do the work. the lines in my old unit ran down the house, around the corner, and through a window. I asked him if he could short'n up the lines, and take a shorter route. Thats when he advised me he did not intend to replace the lines. These lines were put in clear back in early 80's and not only looked ugly, I wanted new coolant lines with my $7000 new unit. He then told me on the day he had scheduled to do it, he wouldn't have time. so I told him then, reschedule it! He assured me the old lines I had were fine, and I was wasting 450-600$ to replace them. He would do the unit now, and before summer end he'd schedule a day to come back and run new lines. So I agreed on that. He put in the unit, 4 weeks later my AC stopped blowing cold. a friend of mine looked at the two spots Jason made new connections, and found a leak inside the home. I called Jason and he immediately came back, and fixed the lines, and refilled my unit with coolant. Did not charge me a dime. The next spring comes, the spring of the pandemic. I start my ac up, no cold air. I called Jason and asked him again, come and run my new lines! because of Covid, he wouldnt even come into my house. This was literally like 3 weeks into the start of everything shutting down, so I understood that. So he shows up, fills my unit, tells me then he will definitely run my new lines before end of summer, No charge to fill the coolant this time. I never hear back all summer. So next summer comes, no cold air. I tell him then, PLEASE COME AND RUN MY NEW LINES! from my understanding, talking to him on the phone,he had every intention on running the new lines. this is two years later now, Freon has leaked out now through two seasons. My wife text me at work, tells me he got our AC working, and this time, he charged us 200$ for the freon, but did not run new lines. I called Jason, he assured me that this summer, FOR SURE, He'd run my new lines. when he runs my new lines, I'd have to pay for Freon anyway , I was told. once again, for the 3rd summer now he never came back. so now it's spring of 2023, my unit has had to be refilled every year since he installed it. I sent him a text, alls I said was " my AC leaked out agains, I still do not have new lines". 2 days later he messaged me back with a date he'd come out. once again he comes out, does nothing but put Freon in, and try's charging me for it. Which by now, I'm so pissed I'm not paying for Freon again. My whole take on this matter? First of all I was told by a licensed AC guy, that the old lines he left, the pounds per square inch of pressure, these lines are not suitable to withstand the pressure a unit built in 2019 Vs a unit built in 1980, I honestly have no idea , buts that's what I was told. And that anytime a new unit is installed, IT IS STANDARD TO INSTALL NEW LINES! I honestly have racked my brain trying to figure out why the hell Jason would not just install new lines, instead of showing up every spring/summer to add new freon. I got to know Jason , somewhat, and I know Jason is a good dude! A dam good Dude that does care about his reputation as a businessman. I guess looking back, maybe I should have been that asshole that called him up cussing about the entire deal, or threaten to take him to court. When he came in 2023, and added the Freon, there was no way in hell I was paying him for freon a 3rd time. I paid for it when he did the original installation, and again 2 years later. it did last from summer of 2023 the last time he put it in, through summer 2024. But here it is spring of 2025, I turn my AC on and it is once again out of Freon. I paid 200$ in 2022 to have Freon put in, when even At that time I don't think it should have ever gotten to a problem of me needing Freon. When you pay 7000$ for a new unit to be put into your home, every spring I shouldnt have to call the person who installed it, to come back to put Freon in, First thing, And second, He should have done the right thing and put new lines in from the beginning. I used Jason because I trusted him. And his bid was 3000 cheaper then going with some of these big name companies. Now by the time it's done, Im not sure how much out of pocket I'm gonna have over the 7000 I paid to start with. It is really frustrating to have a brand new unit put in, 6 years later the entire process has been nothing but a headache! I now have a window unit trying to keep my home cool until i can get a someone new out to look at it. read more
