This is how one gets fed at Boyette's: hush-puppies, fresh biscuits, catfish fillet, ham, fried chicken, coleslaw..... most amazingly I think it was less than $12 dollars for the whole thing. Wash that down with some iced tea and you will be wanting for nothing else. You will love the traditional feel of this place and I think whether just passing through to check out Reelfoot Lake, this is a must eat at place for the whole family. The only reason I am writing this review is because of the hostess. Sandy, I believe her name was. She was so rude!! Honestly as the face of the restaurant- she is giving the place an awful first impression. Other than that the service was great. The waitress was super sociable and energetic. The food came out great, except there was an ant in my sweet tea.. yikes. But the waitress was very attentive and said this never happens and apologized profusely. I was apprehensive of the restaurant at first and didn't expect too much after my experience/ impression of the host. I have no complaints other than the host. Personally, I would never have her in the front of house speaking to people. She does not have the necessary traits. I watched her be hateful/disrespectful to multiple customers and the other waitresses. I even asked our waitress if the host was just having a bad day. Our waitress said: "that's just how she is. She treats everyone like that. The bosses tell us just have to overlook her." I was appalled!!! How does she have a job?! read more

I don't know what is wrong with this place, but when I go and spend $200-250 (incl tip) for my family to eat here, why do they give me such a hard time????? They charge $18 for an "all you can eat" fish & chicken dinner. Then, you pay another $1 for white meat. EVERY SINGLE TIME we go, we have to INSIST on getting a chicken breast!!!! Tonight, two of us paid extra for "white meat" chicken & were served ONE breast & three WINGS. We were told wings were "white meat". Ummmm, NO, it's not!!! It took me an HOUR to get a chicken breast. That I PAID FOR!!! If my family didn't insist on eating here, I would NOT. Go to Blue Bank. Their food is awesome & they don't try to cheat you. read more

Great catfish and chicken - but so much more As like most folks, my wife and I went for lunch at Boyette's after going to see the Eagles Tour by the Reelfoot Visitors Center. They have a great tour to see and learn about the eagles and other wildlife in the area. No, not Boyette's - the Visitor Center. Now Boyette's has great food - we can recommend the catfish, fried chicken (I ate "half-a-chicken"), and onion rings for starters. The service was quite good. Even though they had a large party ahead of us, we still got good service and got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Now, we had also intended to try the pies, but we filled up on all the good food first. Sad. Perhaps you can try the pies and tell us how good they are. The food was delicious. Our service today on our first visit was awful! We noticed that the 3 tables closest to ours each had attentive servers & one ordered a minute before us. Their food was brought out & 19 minutes later my party of two was still waiting on our order. I saw that the lady running the hostess stand was also the owner & went to speak to her, explaining the situation. She didn't seem to care at all that we'd been there awhile or waiting much longer. She proceeded to tell me all about her problems getting servers & show me her clipboard. She did nothing to problem solve the situation. When our food did arrive, we still had to wait on silverware. A few points: NO KITCHEN STAFF/FOOD HANDLERS ARE WEARING MASKS!!! No restaurant employees are either, for that matter! I will not give Boyette's my business again. I'm extremely disappointed in the owner's lack of concern and care of our excessive wait (which it was clear was because our server forgot to turn in our order or return to our table at all! She was running a 30 top across the room!) Then, because I had taken the initiative of speaking to the owner about the situation, the two girls who bus the tables as well as the cashier all gave me multiple looks as we were leaving & paying (typical small town mentality - so unhealthy!!). The cashier was in my earshot during our entire dining experience & asked each paying customer how their meal was. She did not ask me! I was really hoping that she would so that I could honestly say how delicious the food was & comment that I'm sure my server could've done better. Had any of the employees TRIED during our experience at the restaurant, they wouldn't get this GENEROUS 2 star negative review here!!! They can definitely choose to do and be better than this! I was coming to Reelfoot to do some fishing. I had read reviews about Boyette's. Boyette's was my first stop. I arrived around 3:00 pm so the lunch crowd was gone. My hostess, waitress and server was "CC" Chelsea. She was friendly and very attentive to my needs. I ordered a three piece fish dinner. I was tempted to try the all you can eat cat fish. Surprise, surprise, the three piece dinner was a feast, more than I would ever eat. The slaw and tartar sauce was home made and accented the taste of the whole meal. I enjoyed the meal. Just over the top. When they say all you can eat that means everything sides and all. A 1st for me usually sides are excluded. Make me want to move closer it's so good. Everything was great and done perfect. They must train the waitress because they were on the spot without being intrusive. Too too much fried food. If you like fried it's OK, but with next to no other restaurants in the area, they need to be more creative.

We made reservations for 17 family members after attending our uncle's memorial service. It was a special time to be together with first cousins and their families and we were seated promptly. We all ordered our meals and drinks. The wait for our food was a little long but we had an extremely large party. I ordered fried chicken and my husband ordered fried catfish. The meals were served with French fries, Onion rings, white or green beans and vinegar cole slaw and rolls and hush puppies. Everything was cooked to perfection. Tradition is what it's all about! I have been to Boyettes several times growing up. People will always come back for a reason and the food never changing is one. They are famous for all you can eat Catfish and Chicken dinners served family style with coleslaw, white beans or green beans, fries, onion rings and hush puppies. If you don't mind a wait. On a weekend maybe 45 minutes outside and about the same after you're seated. The staff are all over the place. clearing tables, bringing out food and seating customers. I was getting tired just watching them. They are efficient and as fast as you can expect a place to be that will let you sit there eating food until you pop. I will say the food was great. The waitresses were competent, friendly and catered to your every wish. I like that. I was there during some kind of festival and if we hadn't been there before supper time we might not have gotten in for an hour or so. I have seen it that busy on just a regular Friday or Saturday. I did check that it is wheel chair accessible. I had a hard time because my wheel chair is a little wider. After dinner when leaving, the people were stacked and when I went to the door, I knew I wouldn't be able to go through but I tried anyway just so I could say I ate too much! A kind customer folded my chair up and got it through the door for me. I would have cleared the ramp like getting a strike at the bowling alley if I tried going down it. Instead I walked down the steps. (I just have a broken foot in a walking cast and can't stand for long periods of time). Good fun and good times...and the fish? Almost as good as the fish dinner at Shell Grocery in Harris Station that I have reviewed with 5 stars. read more

Boyette's is incredible. Some of the best southern food you can have. I highly recommend the hush puppies, fried catfish, fried chicken, onion rings, and the white beans. The biscuits with fried ham is also really good. The tea is 'rot your teeth' sweet and the Southern Hospitality radiates right as you walk in the door. Had the "all you can eat catfish". Stopped by the place while visiting the area. Had heard good reviews. Place was neat, clean and presented well. Wait staff was superb. They kept the fish and sides coming at a rate that kept me from ever running out. Taste wasn't exceptional. Fish was slightly over cooked. As I had many small servings and they were all the same, I would say this is status quo. Sides were pretty good. Fries, onion rings, slaw, hush puppies and beans. The norm. Again, service was great. I have been going to Boyette's for many many many years. Great local place to eat fish.......it is right across the street from REELFOOT LAKE,,,,,,, Really solid family style place to go to. I like the traditional feel and presentation of Boyette's..... This is not fine dining, very casual and kid friendly. They have quite a bit of large tables for groups of 8-10. Best catfish I've ever had. Funky & dated decor which makes it feel like you're visiting grandmas house again. Catfish, fries & pups were super & huge servings made for great leftovers. Sweet tea, slaw & bean soup adds to the family style southern meal. Friendly service. Yum! Definitely going back again! Waited an hour and 20 mins for a chicken snack and two chicken breast dinner plates. No tea refills. Our waitress "forgot" to come back to our table to take our order because one of our party went to the restroom. Meanwhile, three other tables were seated and their orders taken by other waitresses. Ours was apparently in hiding somewhere. Once we finally got our food, it was noticed that parts of our entrees were missing. More waiting... We even had to wait to pay the ticket. Guess who we had to wait on at the cash register? You got it, OUR waitress. We DO NOT recommend going there at the end of lunch rush. If you want to play hide and seek then maybe this is the place for you. Also, I would like to comment that the wait staff there does not help each other out. That is a poor commentary on an establishment, If you are just there to beat your fellow employees to the punch, everyone loses especially the customers. We drove over two hours in order to see the area, unfortunately a good portion of our allotted time was spent wishing they would turn on the heat while we waited, and waited and waited. Catfish plate was great food came out fast and hot but the service.... well it was trash. Our server took awhile to initially come to our table and when she did all she said was, "Are y'all ready?" in a not so kind way. So I'm thinking ok great we got THAT server. Don't see her again until we get our food. I ask for hot sauce for my catfish and I swear she brought me the bottle with a table spoon left in it. I don't want to be annoying so I just use the rest of the bottle and eat the rest of my fish dry. She comes back to the table to refill my friends tea and ask me if I want more soda. I say yes please and she says um ok what do you have and seemed to be bothered that I wanted a refill when that was my first one. Had to ask for the check as my friend and I are just sitting there, plates all prebussed for her and everything like gah lee. She finally brings the check and then nicely says y'all have a good night. By that point it was too late to be nice and make me feel comfortable you've already ruined my experience. The flat iron steak was very well seasoned and tender, the twice baked potato was great, and the baked apples were very sweet and tasty. Boyette's is an institution on Reelfoot lake and it's the food not just the location that makes it so. You'll never find southern food better prepared or more tasteful. My brother and I had family style meals with choices of meats and vegetables. We chose country ham, catfish filets and white beans all accompanied by freshly made onion rings, hand cut fries, homemade rolls, hush puppies and the best cole slaw you'll ever eat. The catfish was the freshest, best tasting, I've had since I can remember and it was perfectly cooked to order. So was the country ham. However, the sides would have been a great meal on their own. Coming to Boyette's to eat catfish has been a tradition in my family since I was a little kid. One thing that hasn't changed is they have the best fried catfish, onion rings and frog legs.
