She is just a pleasure and professionals like her make dining a pleasure. "It was a dark and stormy night ..." as Snoopy would write. We were just passing thru Dyersburg and wanted steak. Several places rated well, but the picture of Abe's drew us in. It reminded us of a place in Raleigh, NC, we had been on a date years ago. To have a fantastic steak in a comfortable restaurant was the perfect break from the weather. We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated. Our server came to the table and provided glasses of water and took drink orders and offered assistance with the menu selections. We started with the Oyster appetizer which my husband enjoyed more than I did. The oysters were very chewy and I thought they were bitter, but he enjoyed the flavor - they were piping hot upon delivery. Next he had the surf and turf with Mushrooms and I had the 10oz ribeye with a baked potato and asparagus. We both ordered them medium rare- he stressed that he wanted his closer to rare. They arrived on piping hot skillets- mine was a tin cut and was cooked medium and became medium well due to being on the hot skillet. It was ok, but not what I expected. The asparagus was tough and stringy, but the potato was just right. My husband's steak was also medium and lacked flavor. The lobster looked beautiful, but was very tough and also very fishy. Mushrooms were sliced and texture was like canned mushrooms heated up. The bread brought with the meal was excellent. We both ate part of our meal and requested to go boxes and will be sharing the leftovers with our fur babies. My husband did order 2 old fashioneds, the first had sugar sitting on the bottom of the glass, that was difficult to stir in, he asked the server when he ordered the 2nd to have then add more simple syrup, but even then he had to request she get him more to add to it. Our server was fantastic and checked on us frequently, but my husband did not want to complain due to previous experience with how people respond. I understand that last night was a holiday but it was the worst service I have had, it took forever to be seated then it took forever for our service they put bread on everyone table but ours, then when our table received the food everyone had their food but me, all I ordered was wings and a stuffed baked potato I ask the waitress then she bring the wrong wings and no potatoe I have been there plenty of times but this was the worse!!! read more

Service was great! Our entrees were both delicious! My husband had the surf and turf and his lobster was good but a little chewy (to be expected) but his ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare and sooo tender and delicious! I had the Mediterranean dish and I can't think of it's name but I believe it was called Cattlebells? They were soooo good on the rice w tazihiki (sp?) sauce. Tender and full of flavor! We had a running joke though... that they looked like Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo. Don't be fooled, they are yummy!! We each had a beverage also both well made. The appetizers and side salads were a miss. We had the stuffed mushrooms and highly do not recommend. Not enough crap stuffing and didn't taste fresh at all. The side salad was pretty pathetic also. Abe's is pretty good, the best thing being the honey butter. The portions are small but it's not overpriced. On occasion, the steaks are too tough, but I've never had a problem with them making it right. All in all Abe's is a well known dyersburg establishment and pretty good. Are there better? Of course, it's no Ruth's Cris. But it has a Nice environment, and when my family is back in the Dyersburg area we always go by there. Abe is always courteous, however, he did fire me as a dishwasher at 17. It was my fault tho!!! I never hold it against him. This restaurant is a part of everyone's childhood in the Burg! read more

Abe's is great! It is definitely now a go to place for when I visit Dyersburg. I've always opted for their steaks but everything looks really good. My coworker had the chicken and liked it a lot. And another had the prime rib and loved it. He wouldn't stop talking about how good of a deal it was. I wish they would make better t-shirt because I enjoy getting shirts from small places. Their parking is definitely a bit hectic and some people that visit are super inconsiderate and will make it hard for you to get out. But other than that I can't complain at all. read more

This was my first time to eat here. A friend had recommended it. It is a very busy restaurant so there might be a little of a wait. There is a large selection of food types. My partner had a steak and potato which he said was good. I got the kabobs with rice and asparagus. It was very tasty. I wasn't impressed with the "New Orleans Style Oysters" definitely not NO style. It was just oysters with cheese on top. Bloody Mary was ok I asked for a spicy one and it definitely wasn't. The waitress was very nice but overloaded with tables. So, she could not attend tables properly. She also needed to know the menu better but she was very sweet. I would recommend and I will definitely go back. Wife & I dined here this weekend. Been years since we've been here. She had lamb chops she said were very good. I had the 12 oz chopped ribeye with onions that was really good. Only 3 stars as we had to ask for bread where as the tables around us (different waitress) go theirs when they sat down, our came 20 minutes after we did. Also, this is the first salad I can remember I've eaten at a restaurant that comes with chopped peppers, 2 or 3 varieties. I like peppers, but cooked in other dishes, not in the salad. I think you have to temper your expectations a bit. You're in Dyersburg TN, not downtown Chicago. With that in mind, it's a good restaurant. We got the combo platter for appetizers which was an assortment of fried things. I got a strip steak that was cooked exactly as ordered. My friend got the ribeye and he was pleased. His wife got the chicken Alfredo and she said it was good. Our service was very good. The ambience is what you would expect for a small town steakhouse. We overnighted in Dyersburg and looked for a nice restaurant when we ran across Abes Rib Eye. The outside was not that appealing as it appeared to be a pre-fab metal building with some wooden additions. There were few cars in the parking lot, nevertheless we decided to stop. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed the inside architecture similar to the outside and almost no customers. Perhaps it was because it was a week day night and not many people eat out during the period of time. We were promptly seated with 5 other customers already in the restaurant. and presented a menu and that is when we nearly fell out of out seat. The top listed item was steak and lobster at just under $60 per person. The rest of the menu was almost New York City prices. We kept looking for something more reasonably priced since we had no idea about the quality of the food and did not want to spend an "arm and leg" for such unknowns. We finally settled on two of the least expensive items. The 8 small shrimp were priced at $14.95 and the glazed chicken was $12.95. Both can only be considered as small portions. No salad---no nothing! Other steaks more than 22 dollars. Overpriced. Still no customers as we left. Drank water. All prices too high old barn looking actually prefab metal building. Interior deco rustic rather than formal. Black table clothes and maroon napkins. Wicker basket of crackers on each table. Our candle on table only ours not burning The service was average and the food was average and the prices way above average and especially for a small rural town. If we had read Trip Advisor first we could have avoided this experience, as others seem to have the same evaluations for this restaurant. read more
