My son has autism, and instead of taking a moment to build rapport or explain what was happening, the doctor immediately told him to put his phone down and put his head back. As a parent, I expect healthcare providers to show patience, understanding, and compassion, especially when working with children who have special needs. Worst dental experience and never got a procedure done! SO néeded a tooth extracted and primary…read moredentist said it needed to be surgically extracted. Referred to Artisan Smiles and set up consultation and ultimately appointment for extraction. Got a call 1 week prior to appt that sedation and "required" CT scan not covered and services would cost over $1000 out of pocket. Called insurance to review and was told that sedation was approved for 1st 15 min and would need post review findings to cover additional time if needed. CT would be covered if they submitted through medical coverage and not dental with proper paperwork. Office personnel insisted that it would not be covered due to their prior experience with their contract with insurance company--- even after 2 separate phone conversations with 2 separate insurance reps that told her it WAS approved. Office personnel would not listen to rep (on a 3 way call and heard entire conversation) and kept talking over the insurance rep to tell why she was right. Ended up at different dentist same day procedure was scheduled and had tooth extracted with just novicaine and $0 out of pocket. This office is just a money grab and not interested in advocating for patients or even getting assistance with filing proper insurance claims.
