Despite coming in every 6 months for preventative dental care, per the recommendations of the American Dental Association ... and per the coverage allowance of our dental insurance, my son was neglected, and left without proper dental treatments. Hanover Dental Care's complete disregard for my son's oral health led to an emergency visit with a pediatric dentist, who then urgently referred us to an oral surgeon, who IMMEDIATELY scheduled my son for a sedated surgical extraction of three baby teeth that were left to rot and decay in his mouth. Due to this office's complete and utter neglect in the diagnosis of several large cavities, and the lack of appropriate treatment of those cavities, we are now paying thousands of dollars out of pocket, and are forced to schedule our son for multiple sedation dentistry treatments in order to preserve his teeth.

Dr. Waltz and his rude staff seemed to think this qualified me as drug-seeking or an otherwise difficult patient and so abruptly cancelled my care without even guaranteeing 30 days of ongoing care as is required by patient abandoment laws. When I complained to Dr. Katz about the broken wire, he said, "You always take that risk." I stated that I didn't think I should pay for any of the extraction procedure. Pristine Smiles is a fairly new practice which is 3 years and it was in my dental plan network so I wanted to give it a try based on the positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at Pristine Smiles that the front desk person was friendly, greeted me and had my paperwork ready when I walked in (most of the front desk person I have visited are usually rude). Dr. Bogavelli was friendly and knowledgeable. She gave me the checkup exam and cleaning which was I wanted for the visit. She was honest and patient. She didn't mind explaining things when I asked. She showed me my x-rays and explained that I needed a filling replaced since the previous dentist didn't do a good job filling a tooth so there was a spacing and gap between the filling and the tooth. She said I didn't need 4 or 5 fillings which the previous dentist said I needed. She also gave advice on how to maintain the teeth. I have never heard of Ultra Soft toothbrush and those were the toothbrushes she gave out which she says are best for the tooth enamel. They were definitely soft when I used them. Another positive thing about Pristine Smiles is the location. I didn't have to drive far and it is very close to the Simpson Ferry Library.
