Finally they acquired their last store front and it is their full service bar and dining room. 3 out of us ordered their half pound burger. I asked for a medium rare interior, never expecting that result. Well dear friends if you still looking for that medium rare burger - the search is over. Absolutely perfect delivery. I ask boyfriend to pick out a lighter, he picks up something that looks like a hand grenade, but turns out to be sort of like...a taser. Yep, he tased himself. He jumped about 6 inches and...well...yelped. Literally. (I laughed!) But, be careful. Apparently, this is how we roll in Northern Michigan. But besides that, this is a great little stop for beer, wine, booze and convenience store type items, complete with a few gals behind the counter that were helpful and cheerful. Wow! The Walloon Village General Store & Deli blew up since our last visit…read more.. We recently spent some time on Lake Walloon and visited Barrel Back Restaurant and this General Store, as well as the park nextdoor. This place now offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, grocery items, Michigan brands, apparel, houseware stuff, and so much more. The staff is friendly and the store is huge and beautiful! Prices are reasonable too... On our recent visits, we purchased some beverages, sandwiches and Better Made chips too. (While in Michigan, amiright?!) If you find yourself in the area, don't miss a visit to this General Store -- even if you think you don't need anything, you'll find something to purchase, guaranteed!

If made fresh there isn't much better than the chicken tenders so I looked in the warmer and there was 3- dry looking tenders but I noticed that they were dropping fresh something in the oil so I asked the young man working the register what it was hoping it was tenders and the grumpy old lady working the fryer said super rudely CHICKEN! Like I was just some stupid guy the man working the register then looks me in the eye and says she is the rudest person he ever met I mean this is his coworker!!!!!! It's the effect of being a rural small town. Employees are somewhere between bland, expressionless, vacant and just plain rude and discourteous. They do the job punching the buttons and collecting the payment, but that's where it ends. Understanding that, the store itself is massive. Several coffee options, frozen drinks, coolers full of many different brands and flavours. Shelves of most anything you could possibly need. But the biggest attraction: Chester's Chicken. Chester's is hot chicken prepared on site, offered in combination or ala carte'. When we lived downstate we ate Chester's for lunch 2-3 times a week. Imagine my surprise finding this one. Don't you just love when you pop into an establishment to use their restroom, and then discover…read morethat they have good coffee? And also baked goods! And avocado toast! And breakfast burritos! I just stopped into Boardwalk Coffee & General Store for a moment, but I did grab a breakfast burrito and some coffee. This is the closest coffee shop to the ferry dock in St. Ignace, so if you need food or beverage before heading onto or hopping off of the island ferry, this is a good place to visit. The decor is not my style, but is homey and comfy, with couches and recliners and mismatched furniture. It's almost like someone's mother-in-law died and her estate donated all of her furniture to Boardwalk. It looks like a nice place to sit a while and enjoy coffee, even though I didn't do that. My visit to Boardwalk was quick -- I just hit it and quit it. There's also a small general store, with things like local jams, fancy tomato paste and canned tomatoes, tortilla chips, cookies and other little fun durable goods. The kinds of things that you don't necessarily need, but when you see them, you think to yourself, "Why the heck not? I deserve this artisanal hot honey."
