The food and cocktails were very tasteful and good! Service was good but not quite great. Our waitress was not thrilled to be there. But she wasn't unfriendly. We shared the crab rangoon dip which was fantastic. We also had the Pescado Street Tacos, Bacon & Provolone burger and Mushroom Swiss burger. All three were vey good. Having a drink at Provisions has become a treasured tradition, we walked in last week and felt like the bartender and co-worker were doing us a favor to take care of us. They were taking over the bar to each other about the previous day and about other patrons, Making jokes and still setting up. our friends were embarrassed and we were all disappointed. We had a marvelous dinner at Provisions 2 nights ago in Boyne City. Now this place is fun. They started as a package liquor store, took the next door store front and converted it into their wine and cheese shop. Finally they acquired their last store front and it is their full service bar and dining room. 3 out of us ordered their half pound burger. I asked for a medium rare interior, never expecting that result. Well dear friends if you still looking for that medium rare burger - the search is over. Absolutely perfect delivery. It's hard for me to believe that this gem has been in business 5 1/2 years, and this was our first time patronizing it. Food was different than most north Michigan restaurants, but that is a great thing, and the food even greater. Kayla remembers us from a previous restaurant she worked 7 years ago, and she did not miss a beat. A very nice addition to the restaurant scene in Boyne City. The ambiance is inviting, and feels really cosmopolitan! Cocktails and wines are varied and excellent. The food offerings are unexpected for this little town! Several comments regarding the ceviche-best they had ever had! Also mentioned were the mussels and Korean ribs. The ahi tuna, however, was a bit overdone and lacked flavor. Salads were spectacular. The truffle fries are incomparable!! Give this place a try. You will be amazed! read more

My new favorite restaurant in Boyne City! Food service starts at 4:30p so get there early or make reservations as the place fills up FAST (which is always a good indication of the food quality!). Back for the third time this summer. An exceptional menu that has matured beyond lite plates and burgers (they both are still part of the menu) into exceptional dining experiences. The well trained staff knows e aptly how to pair the proper wine to your meal. Most impressive, they can pair a nu.ber of interesting beers as well. What a gem in this quaint little small town. After doing a little shopping we popped in here for "a quick glass of wine". Well that turned into spending the whole evening here. It's November in a northern Michigan lake town so, its a ghost town. We know know restaurants are desperate for business so we gladly did our part and drank some wine and ate some food. We were pleased at the variety of food options and the menu was clearly marked with gluten free options. We shared two different Flatbreads that were fantastic, the chicken one was out favorite. They have a great selection of wines from red to white, sweet to dry and even a variety of sparkling wines. If wine isn't your thing, they also had a full bar with cocktails and beer. Definitely will be back the next time we are in the area. read more

Recently visited Northeast "continental" Michigan tried Provisions for dinner one night. So glad we did. The atmosphere is nice, but I'm OK with just about anywhere so long as the food is good. I'll preface this by saying that I'm a picky eater, very meat and potatoes and my nickname should probably be "kids menu". So in going in I had every intention of grabbing a burger. I had a plain cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger is by my memory the best I've ever had. If it wasn't it was easily top 2-3. It didn't look particularly special when it came out either, but it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Adding to that were the fries. Again, just excellent. They looked a bit different than what I'm accustomed to, but they were fantastic. Some of the entrees will give you the option of chips (potato chips). Go the fries route instead. My father wished he'd done that after trying one of mine. That brings me to dessert. Dessert is when I'm not so picky, but I have to say the peanut butter pie I had was also just great. That brings me to the service. We had a female server, or so it seemed, but before ordering somehow a male server took over. I think it was fine as they were talking afterwards and I think the male server had just started his shift. Well, he was also fantastic. Great conversation and great recommendations. I'll end it with two more things. First, we were quite sad to realize that they were closed on Sundays and Mondays as we wanted to have a second meal at Provisions before heading home from vacation. Second, if I lived near lovely Boyne City I'd absolutely stop by Provisions for a burger every week, it was that good. read more

Four of us met for dinner. The wine, beer, and cocktail choices were made, and each was happy with their choice. The cocktail was an exotic and tasty concoction. We started with a special app-smelt. It was lightly breaded and delicious. The menu has such a wide variety that we picked from salads and app combo, scallop entree, and two different burgers-with fries and with onion rings. A long list of burgers can be found. All was prepared as requested or expected! Take-home containers were needed for two. Service was polite and informed. The wait time as we progressed through drinks and app to dinner selection was a pace we set. The server checked regularly with a friendly and positive response each time. Second time there. Small over priced common food. Small menu. Went back for Friday night prime rib. &38.00 for a tasteless overcooked meat with no seasoning or juice. The prime rib didn't stain the mashed potatoes and the fat was almost as big as the thin pieces of meat. Maybe 10ozs. Total and 6ozs. Of fat. Had to ask for salt and pepper for taste. More staff behind the Bar with a new whiskey tasting!! Never asked us about are drinks. My wife's salad had more on her plate than my Prime rib!. read more

Ok, this place was great before, but it's even better now. They just added a whole addition in December featuring wine, cheeses, and other specialty (read: suuuuper expensive) items. The look of this addition is pretty minimal, with the jars and boxes of stuff on metal baker's racks, but it has a nice feeling to the place. I even saw two breasts of local chicken in a freezer for $8 that someone may have the coin to splurge for. People in the regular old convenience store are just as nice, and we found some good beer from Short's that we enjoyed. I'm sure we'll be back about ten thousand times this week. read more

This place goes above and beyond. You walk in and really get the sense they know what they are doing when it comes to wine and fine food. Their little deli in the back has great soups, wonderful little quick sandwiches to go, and the soup comes with bread or crackers. Their wine selection is phenomenal and they actually carefully choose each selection. The impression I get is that they are invested in their customers and care. I'll definitely keep going here. We brought our guests from out of town in for the the wine tasting on Saturday from 4-7 and they had a great time and even posted about their experience on Facebook. Have gotten several pizzas here over the summer. They taste good but they have never once gotten our order right. Tonight I got a pizza with 3 toppings on one half and 3 toppings on the other half. They charged me $19.61 for the pizza. When I asked if they were charging me for 6 toppings when I have the equivalent of 3, they said yes. Had I not been so hungry, I would have left and not paid for it. Insult to injury, when I opened the box when I got back to the car, I found out once again, they messed up the toppings. So I paid $20 for a pizza that is worth about $12 and it isn't even right! Sorry. I am done getting pizza at provisions. A basic round large pizza is not worth $20! Update: Changing my rating to a 4 for 2 reasons. Aside from the pizza issues, I really like this store. Great foods and wines and beer selection next door. Also, the owner was very responsive and actively tried to correct the issues with the pizza pricing and topping mistakes. He also issued a gift certificate to cover the overcharge and the wrong toppings in the past. I appreciate is responsiveness and the will continue to visit his store. read more
