Was in a serious vehicle accident. Went to the er had burning pain down my neck, back tops of shoulders and my head hurt. And my eyes were dilated. They did a ct scan of my head and an x ray of my neck and head. They told me I was fine told me to go home and take aleve or Tylenol. Went somewhere else turns out I had bulging discs in my lower back and bulging and a herniated disc in my neck. I would avoid them and go to Billings or Butte. read more

I have been a RN for 25 years and at 3 different hospitals. I really enjoy working for this hospital system. My family has had to go to the urgent care in Belgrade 3 times and have great experiences with all the staff. Very knowledgeable. I personally have had 2 procedures this year and was treated very well. The nurses, doctors, and ancillary staff were so kind and made my stay amazing. A big shout out to the Dr Meier and Dr Hape for their care. The imaging department and endoscopy department really took great care of me also. Dr Hayasaka and Dr Dee are the best anesthesiologists. read more

Was seen in ER for severe abdominal pain and Dr. McMickle had the worst bedside manner. He did not give anything for pain til hours later. He treated me like I was drug seeking from the very beginning. I don't go the ER just to be poked and prodded. I go when I absolutely need to. The only time I saw anyone was only if I hit my call light. These doctors need to learn and understand not everyone is drug seeking when the come in with severe pai. Stop assuming!!!!!! I am truly puzzled by the poor reviews. I went to the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital ER for a sore shoulder when I was on vacation in Yellowstone. It turned out to be much more serious and I was admitted overnight on oxygen. From the time I walked through the door every staff member, doctor, nurse, tech I encountered was competent, professional and compassionate. Communication with me and with one another was excellent. I called in asking to speak with the doctor on call for my specific doctor's office, and the women who answered the phone was rude and judgmental. She kept repeating the same answer and was no help at all. I understand there are limitations, but she was rude and judgmental about it. My husband and I live in Butte, MT. He has a Dr in Bozeman to receive care for his MS. He was having some health issues and we made the decision to travel to the Bozeman Health ER instead of receiving care at St James in Butte. He was examed and admitted into the hospital. Every single Doctor and Nurse has been amazing. They have been compassionate and caring. I would highly recommend to anyone needing urgent care or hospitalization. The ER was clean considering how many people were being cared for. The hospital room was pleasant. The bathroom was very nice. I wish Butte, MT and St James would pull it together to get resources that are comparable. read more

Most of the people who work at Bozeman health are kind and caring folks. My complaints would be in all the referrals my doctor had me going to which led to testing and evaluations. Each of these different referrals required an appointment with the specialist doctor who in turn could only be seen 2-3 months down the road. By the time I get to the appointment it can become irrelevant. I also don't like that anything posted on My Chart can be seen by anyone else at Bozeman Health. Cardiology -- I had a calcium exam that indicated I am at a very high risk of heart attack. We called the cardiology group at Bozeman Health and it took 3 weeks for an appointment. The appointment was with a PA and Dr Schneider. On the morning of my appointment, I got a call saying that the PA was out sick and they would have to reschedule. I explained that I had a calcium exam which indicated a very high risk of heart attack and that I really wanted to see the Doctor anyway. The woman told me that they have a "care team" approach under which I see both the DR and the PA so that if one is out I can see the other. I pointed out that that is exactly what was happening -- the PA is out so I'd like to see the DR. She said there was nothing she could do and she would call me back. I am amazed at the illogical incompetence and lack of care. I am searching for another option in the Bozeman area since these people could care less about their patients! read more

From great to moderate to poor..., guess that's not surprising considering the size and scope of- everyone is having a hard time hiring and keeping good people. I feel compelled to write this review to 1) hopefully save another family from going through the same heartache with their loved one and 2) expose what's really going on inside our hospitals. When you arrive at the hospital the first thing that will happen is you will be given a PCR test. As for the hospitals getting paid more to put a patient on a ventilator, if you don't know this by now, you haven't been paying attention the last two years. You can do your own research on that one! The protocol for ICU patients on a ventilator is to use Remdesiver and Dexamethasone. No anti-viral medication is used to actually go after the virus. The patient is put into a medically induced coma and on a ventilator. There has been a lot of mention in the news about the use of Ivermectin and Budesonide. Our family had asked Dr. Andrew Sullivan about administering Ivermectin to my father when he was first admitted to the hospital at the end of September 2021. Dr. Sullivan said it wasn't FDA approved and refused to use it. That's odd he would say this as not only is this drug FDA approved but is inexpensive, safe and widely used around the world. I showed the hospital my out of state license, explaining I had flown up just to be with my Dad one last time. I offered to take a Covid test, wore a mask, whatever they wanted. Our family has suffered immense grief from not being able to be with our loved one in his last moments of life. Sadly, we are certainly not alone in our distress. If I could rate this lower than 1 star I would. I came in at around 10 pm and am getting out now(12:45 am) with an extremely painful ear. I thought I had an ear infection, but after 2 hours of waiting in agony they tell me that it's just red and that I should take advil. Thanks for the information like that wasn't what I was already doing. On top of that it took an extra 45 minutes to get me some Tylenol, and I just know that ER bill is going to make me want to die. Edit: I got my ear checked again when I came back home from Montana to Wisconsin and guess what, I indeed had an ear infection! I just want to say that patient care at Bozeman health has been nothing but terrible in the past several years. Despite a couple of very, very amazing doctors, I have never been treated as poorly as I have been by multiple providers. One of them being a nurse practitioner named Crystal Henderson with Internal Medicine. I would highly encourage people if they would like to be respected and treated as people, to go to a different hospital. Update: family member came in for second knee surgery - same great experience. After last surgery - in follow up, they found a spot on a lung - turned out to be cancer. I doubt anyone else would have caught it. So add the 6th star. Previous review: Dr. Deibert (orthopedic surgeon) and Dr. Moog (Anethesiogist) performed complete knee replacement on a family member. Facilities looked new & maintained. All nursing staff and volunteers were incredibly helpful. The use of technology to keep folks informed - while using numbers released only to the family members - maintained privacy (& I'm sure HIPA requirements). Being from The big city visiting a relatively small town, I was really impressed with the quality and the service. Let's see how well post op is dealt with. read more

This pain lasted two months until I left Bozeman Health and switched providers. Found out I had some pelvic infection and it had gotten to the point I could barely walk. Go somewhere else! read more

While on vacation in Montana I got an obvious case of strep throat and needed a prescription. I checked in to their b2 Urgent Care fairly quickly, but they did not accept my out of state insurance, so I had to be billed directly. I had 102 temp and just wanted a prescription, so I figured, how much could it be...I'll just file a reimbursement request with my insurance and be done with it. They sent me to a separate viral waiting room, which only had 1 person so I thought it would go quickly...which it did not. Several people came in after me and were seen before me (only 1 of which was for the separate Covid test service). About an hour of waiting... The good: Saw the nurse tech, then the Doc. They are the only reason this place gets 2 stars!! They were actually great - very nice, listened and responded with compassionate care. Within 45 minutes or so (almost 2 hours total) I was on my way with a prescription. I got an invoice (from a Montana address) from them a couple weeks later for a little over $100. Paid it immediately by check. I thought that seemed fair enough. The bad: Then another couple weeks later I get another invoice for $256 (from a Colorado address). This invoice included the "balance forward charge" of $100 from the previous invoice. So, now I have the same charge showing up on two separate invoices (from 2 separate states), I'm being invoiced twice for a single visit, and it's going to cost me $256 just to get a prescription. And I still had to pay for the pills! I called to speak with them about it and the Bozeman Health "Customer Service" people are unconscionably rude. If I ever get stuck in this situation again, I will NOT go back to b2 Urgent Care (Bozeman Health). Long story short, don't go here. There has to be a better option in the area. read more

Mother of two who will be seeking our family medicine & preventative health care services from Billings Clinic from now on. Their patient portal sucks. Maybe you're current on your bills, maybe not. Maybe your children's bills are connected to your account, maybe not. Maybe you get competent care, maybe not. If you like gambling with your health and account accuracy, go ahead and ignore my recommendation to go elsewhere. It's been made clear that Bozeman Health's bottom line is more important than being a partner in my family's health. After paying down a $2400+ co-payment for a procedure performed there, my bill was sent to collections because I missed some payments. I agreed to pay the outstanding balance ($700+) but they will not pull it from collections. I strongly urge other families to seek services from other providers who actually care about their patients and not just the revenue we represent. read more

The ER displayed the most horrific level of incompetence. Please Bozeman Health, do better with who you hire. I've never experienced such a lack of professionalism from at least half your staff, and complete lack of actual care from one attending Dr. The dates were Saturday the 22 and Monday the 24 of July 2023. The Attending Dr on Saturday was wonderful. Monday's was the absolute worst MD I've experienced. On par with some of the terrible PAs I've had the displeasure of interacting with. I went to ER for a severe UTI. I was on vacation, the ER doc sent me up to the urology Dept. I was seen by a terrific and caring Dr Skenazy. After going thru my chronic UTI issues. Called for a CT scan ( after giving a specimen ). I was immediately taken back and in a matter of minutes was finished. Very disappointed in the radiology department. My doctor suspects I have pneumonia so he ordered a chest X-ray. Their website states they are open until 5 PM. I arrived at 4:30 PM to be told ALL the X-ray techs had gone home early. Seriously? A hospital with absolutely No X-ray techs on duty? Unbelievable! This review is specific to Bozeman Deaconess Laboratory services. I'll give them more than one star because eventually results will get done. The most recent failure was an attempt to drop off a kidney stone sample. I tried to drop off the sample at the Hospital lab site only to be turned away because "they didn't have that machine" and I would have to drop it off at a different site (19th ave. location). I arrived at the 19th ave. location and was told they send the sample to the main lab... wait for it... at the hospital. A 15 minute trip to drop off a sample turned into over an hour and will extend the time it takes to get the results. Thankfully none of the test I've needed are urgent. read more

I am a healthcare worker in the Phoenix area. My mother and father went to the ED today at Bozeman Deaconess when he woke up with persistent nausea/vomiting, tremors and unable to stand. He is going through radiation therapy after having a prostatectomy (in Phoenix) for prostate cancer. The highlight of the experience was when my 62 year old mother wheeled dad out of his ED room letting them know he needed a bathroom break. Nurse Missy said okay, pointed in the general direction of the bathroom and watched her wheel him away. My 62 year old mother then grabbed him up from his armpits and hoisted him over to the toilet. Now, in my hospital, we don't let family members lift patients up and down. They seem to do things differently there. I am actively looking for a flight to go help take care of things. In the meantime, I am very frustrated with their general lack of concern for my family. I have plenty more stories to tell in the short three hours that they have been there, but that one really infuriated me. On a side note, when I called to "visit" with the charge nurse, he was understanding and tolerated my dissatisfaction quite well. read more

my 11 year old daughter was having suicidal thoughts. on the advice of her pediatrician, I took her to the ER. we were checked in right away and taken back to room in the ER. We waited 5 hours for a mental health doc to speak with us via telehealth. we checked in at 7 pm. No docs on sight?? 5 hours to set up a telehealth with a child in crisis?? The doc and I decided it would be safe to send her home. I was told we would get a call the next morning to continue a safe plan for her and phone numbers for more resources to help my daughter. No phone call ever came. If you have a mental health crisis, I STRONGLY suggest going elsewhere. read more

After making us wait an hour (after my wife had already been 'prepped') in an uncomfortable room, Dr. Sauerwein finally performed the cystoscopy on my wife. In response to her wincing in pain during the procedure he said 'What? It hurts? Wow - you have a low pain threshold'. Afterwords his diagnosis was 'no cancer, no tumors, nothing obvious. Just wait it out'. I asked if the Valium she took beforehand would have any side effects the next day, he said not the next day. No explanation as to what the side effects could be. Bedside manner - couldn't be worse. Knowledge - he had no clue. Do NOT ever visit this 'doctor' for any reason. read more

The billing department at this hospital has put me through the ringer after a car accident that was not my fault.

Thankfully, I have not had to use this hospital for anything serious because I have experienced nothing but incompetence from Bozeman Deaconess. The billing from this place is a nightmare. They create a new account for every procedure and visit. Then you get a bill for every "account." It is very confusing and we almost got turned in to collections even though we were paying more than $500 per month after our insurance was billed. They were not applying the payments to the right accounts. When we called for more information, we only interacted with rude, incompetent, unprofessional individuals who gave misinformation and contradicted themselves. We actually found new accounts assigned to us that they didn't even know existed! If you don't have a heart condition, you'll have one after working with the rude accounting department. If they cannot perform simple billing, how could the same hospital perform a serious medical procedure? I lived in Billings for 10 years and had no problems. Thanks for taking such good care of my dad. He was went in to the ER for a chest x-ray because of a cold and an hour later had two new stents to repair a FULL right coronary blockage. Three days in ICU with amazing nursing care and two days in the medical ward and Pop was ready to go home. Without such perceptive doctors things would be very different. read more

I've been bringing my kids here to peds for almost 4 years and LOVE it! It may just be their doctor (Blake) that we love but we are always treated with respect. The entire staff of the hospital was incredible I have never dealt with a more skilled and compassionate group of people. I am a healthcare provider at another facility and to say the average wait time is 21 minutes is very skewed. We have been to Bozeman Health several times and even when the waiting room is dead, let's be more realistic at like 2 hours+. I have worked with lots of doctors and facilities and I am least impressed with the lack of moral, lack of education, and most important lack of follow-up from this facility. They are not even close to being a hospital I would want to associate myself with. You either love healthcare or you don't. We were there with a family member several weeks ago and we had to wait forever for a laceration across the head. I guess it wasn't bleeding enough for it to be an emergency for them. By time we actually got in, the compression we had on it for hours, slowed the bleeding way down. They didn't do a CT scan or x-ray. Maybe our insurance wasn't the Cadillac plan they wanted. So really you only get the care you need if your insurance is superb. I would rather go to Billings or Missoula facilities. So I get a bill for the emergency visit but they did not treat us like it was an emergency. I ask why? We didn't receive emergency care or was even given preferential treatment. Wow they should receive a grade letter "F" for their services, lack of care, and even their billing. Again been here several times over the years and it has never changed. I keep hoping it will but after years and years hoping for different results, I still get the same results every time. read more
