Hiring BP Attorneys at Law (BPA) is like buying a boat, the two best days are the day you hire and the day you fire, in between is just a hole that you throw money into without getting anything back. We hired BPA in August 2023 to have a conservatorship set up for a grandchild. We gave BPA $4500, the anticipated cost, that BPA could draw against. In February we received an invoicing for additional money since the retainer had been depleted. To date, April 2024, the only action that has been completed is the serving of one of the parents notice of the suit in December. That for $4500.....wow. Here is the story, in August I spoke with Tim, Atty, about this case for my brother and his wife requesting a conservatorship of their grandchild that had been abandoned by their daughter. Tim was willing to discuss this and requested $4500 as an estimated cost for this case be put into an account that BPA could draw from monthly. August to December goes by and invoices have been processed and amounts paid. In January an invoice comes in and there is a request for more money as $4500 has already been spent. I attempt to find out what the $4500 had been spent on before I put more money into this account. This is where Krystal steps in and informs me that no one can speak to me because this case is for my brother and his wife. Interesting as they could talk to me about the case originally and were glad to take the credit card number for funding the account. Imagine this, a law firm knows nothing about a confidentiality agreement or an NDA, that my brother asked about and said he would be glad to sign. Still a No Go from Krystal. Then Mr. Pritchard contacted my brother by phone to discuss this situation and my brother understood that I would be contacted, and the information being requested would be provided. I sent a couple of emails to Krystal. Crickets. No contact from Mr. Pritchard or Tim. I sent an email specifically requesting: 1. Statement for the original funds indicating what each billing was for. 2. Status of case indicating what still needs to be done. 3. What the expected expense of getting to the close of case will be. I have asked for an accounting of what exactly the $4500 covered and what the expected future costs will be to complete this case. Crickets. Then in March a new invoice was submitted for $568 for the phone conversations with my brother and reading of my emails to Krystal. Crazy. Then in April a new invoice was submitted for $35 as a late charge. Really. ​ As stated earlier, this is like owning a boat and just throwing money into it. We are dropping anchor. I would consider taking my money and buying a boat rather than hiring this firm, at least you can get some wind in your hair and maybe some fish in the boat or some swimming and skiing for fun. read more

Absolutely DO NOT use this law firm . They are rude and their way of communicating and billing is so ridiculous. They are ALWAYS out of town and then nothing happens on your case while they are out of the office. I waited over 30 days for one signature! You ask them a question , they bill you for it without even answering the question. I worked for a lawyer so I know what I'm talking about . Terrible professionalism. You will literally wait weeks for an update on your case. The first time speaking to my lawyer she knew nothing about the case, the conversation was literally spent with her asking me questions about details she should have already been privy to before calling me. The conversation was not productive I was not able to ask or receive answers to my questions due to the lack of information she had. Secondly, the day I was supposed to speak to my attorney the firm informed me same day that I will not be receiving a call from her and rescheduled me to the following week with a new attorney. A simple custody revision has turned into a complete drawn out process due to the lack of enthusiasm and professionalism from the firm. All the while I am still getting charged with little to no communication. Honestly, weight your options before choosing this firm. Highly dissatisfied. Update: so they told me today that they can not move forward with my case until I REMOVE THIS REVIEW!! They are literally strong arming, clients into removing reviews! They said if I don't remove it they will not go forward with my case! Not only that when I asked to speak to Brett. Pritchard they told me he isn't available and actually called the police on me and said I was fired and that I couldn't talk to him! I said I'm a paying patron how am I being asked to leave! Be careful with soliciting Mr. Pritchards services as it is unreliable and took longer than expected to finalize. The attorney who represented me (3rd) at the time was late to the hearing, improperly dressed and did not fully prepare important case documents pertaining to my case. Normally I just move on with my life but after speaking to Mr. Pritchard himself, he did not seem to care since I received the same level of care as the attorney who represented me at the time. Also be weary of their refund policy which they do not make clear until it's too late. UPDATE: 2/23/2023 Credit to Mr. Pritchard for opening my case again after a few years and managing to complete my documentation hassle free. However, I don't know how busy he and his team are that it took a considerable amount of time but it was done nonetheless after some time has passed after my divorce. read more

Incredibly unprofessional and lazy. The only way work was done on my divorce proceedings was if I called the office directly. After waiting months to file the Final Divorce decree, I called the office for an update only to be told they were completing 'Internal Training' for the staff all week and that Brett was not IN OFFICE to submit my paperwork. Nothing is explained correctly, and their primary means of communication is E case which is a online platform. If you are military stay away, they say they are military friendly but they are not and have no understanding of our benefits. They do not deserve the one star that yelp makes me click. If this was the absolute last attorney on the face of the earth I would take my chances in representing myself. Absolutely the most UNPROFESSIONAL business I have ever come across. They tell you what you want to hear until they get your retainer. Once they have your retainer you hardly ever hear from them again and then back track on what they organically told you. I call that a LIE! They make you communicate within a "Portal" no person to person conversations. These situations are life changing events and they provide no person to person help! Charged for unreturned calls, unanswered emails, filing fees, court fees when you NEVER even got in front of a judge and never received true legal advise. Paid them $7,000 for 8 months of NOTHING! This is what I wrote previously I would like to add to this- Jeff Linnick was hired as a defense attorney, this facility(don't know ) but as far as Jeff Linnick as a defense. He was not interested in any type of defense only to plea and his last statement was ----" We need to get on the same page- The DA is taunting me .." This lawyer lacks the capability of defending himself much less any clients- When I told him this - the very next day, he motioned to remove himself as counsel, We also paid a 3500 retainer for a Jury trial (which we have had no trial ) The law firm has continuously provided false information..no they straight up lied about mailing the said audit -refused to let me speak with anyone and I paid the lawyer the money, however, they would not refund the money to my card .. knowing my brother was incarcerated and unable to receive any checks or anything else ... they said they sent it to the jail and refused to put on my card ..., I need the refund to hire 'A REAL LAWYER' ..... They are not helpful , not trustworthy, and not interested in the clients only an easy case .. SO IF YOU NEED A REAL DEFENSE.... KEEP LOOKING 6/8/2021 I can't speak for the entire firm, however, the lawyer, JL,  that we hired may as well have been a court reporter, as his skills primarily entail what everyone else is saying or doing. Why would I say this? Because my brother, after 6 months of incarceration, was basically only represented by me. There were mistakes made and when it was pointed out to the lawyer, his response was ...yeah I guess you are right, but took no actions to help. The reason that was his response is that per his words, that he had not looked at anything but the items of discovery.  They may be okay for a will dispute or even some type of plea deal but not anything that would entail actual legal work. They have a portal to update you and to make it appear as though they have contact. but since his incarceration, my brother has had a total of 5 visits and one .. he wasn't even aware of where he was located... mighty fine lawyer (note the sarcasm!) I am not objectifying the skills as a family lawyer ... but for any kind of defense ... you would do better with the prosecuting attorney representing you. Gave a $5k retainer and they were supposed to start an emergency order but after tons a paperwork they asked that I go through an online file system that was s ever sent to me. I called several times with no response and then fired them as my spouse then found an attorney, filed, and I was served. I asked for my money back and they were fired and it took months. They they called and said they were canceling the check. Then I cashed the check and they billed me for the online file that was never set up. I always had the run around and I always was left waiting. I used carol prater after that and did not have ANY of those issues. This guy is a scammer- don't use him. If they allowed 0 stars that is what these guys deserve. I'm so worn out trying to get them to do anything that I can't stomach going into details. To summarize it takes 20 emails and phone calls to even get their attention (for which they bill you every time). It's been 1.5 years since we hired them for a simple child support enforcement. Brett and NJ accomplished absolutely nothing that they promised and have charged over twice the original $3500 retainer (which they guaranteed we wouldn't pay). It's been 6 months since they finally went to court (after a full year) and they still haven't filed paperwork with the AG's office. Every time we call we get no response, just another bill in the mail for reading the text asking why they weren't doing anything. Needless to say the defendant still isn't abiding by the court order so we will have to contact the Judge directly to have a bench warrant served. Please take my advice and go somewhere else. I have many attorney friends around TX but not close to Bell County. They are all appalled by these guy's blatant disregard for their clients and suggest that I file grievances, if not a lawsuit against them for breach of contract. read more

Do not use this law firm! They took a 7k retainer amd did absolutely nothing and the attorney Brett knew nothing about my case the day of the hearing. He was completely unprofessional asking about if my antidepressant medication works ..in front of other people . He kept saying he needed to go to his car and acted uninterested in helping me with my custody case. Everything I discovered about the opposing side came from me finding out on my own and informing them about it. What am I paying for? They told me they would "expedite " having the opposing served and they dragged their feet for weeks. After letting the attorney go I have requested a refund and they continue to charge me for miscellaneous things to drain the retainer. This attorney is unprofessional, rude and unprepared. He did not look at or use any documents I sent to help my case. Don't waste your money. I will be filing with the Texas Bar if I don't receive some of my retainer back. read more

You will do better with literally any other lawyer in the county. My divorce started in 2016 with Brett assuring me that my case was an easy win. After I paid my first retainer I was passed on not once, but twice to another attorney. Over the next 3 years my case was in court and Ryan Lawton did nothing for my case. I kept receiving bills monthly eventually to the tune of over $50,000 dollars and I was being raked over by the opposing attorney. Anytime I needed anything done I had to beg and call multiple times. Ryan did not prep me or any witnesses in my case. He did not do ANY of what I now know is the "norm" in a divorce and custody case in Bell county. Brett refused to listen to my worries and I was even threatened to be dropped multiple times in a very stressful and intense situation. The billing said things like "worked on case" but Ryan never used or brought up a single thing in the case that I did not directly give him myself. All he did in court was read off a word document that I wrote myself. He ignored multiple requests and information that was given to him that could have helped. He had no defense against any for the things my ex and his attorney were saying. He ignored several things I requested and in the end I lost. I have no criminal record, no drug history, NOTHING. I lost because my attorney did not do his job. He also pressured me to sign a decree rather than fighting it and I ended up being screwed in every possible way. I reached out to them after finding out that they basically stole $50, 000 and the response was "we can not help you at this time". I am now having to beg for my records so that I can file a complaint and start a case with a competent attorney. My only option is to hire another attorney and start all over, except instead of a custody case I will be fighting an order that is already in place. DO NOT HIRE THIS LEGAL TEAM. This law firm is both negligent and incompetent. I hired them for a divorce/child custody case in which timeliness was essential. In the week and a half after I hired them and paid a retainer of $8,500 they failed to do anything whatsoever. My assigned attorney never reached out to me so I scheduled an appointment with him. On the day of the appointment I was told he could call anytime during the day, which is very inconvenient if you have a job and life to attend to. At the end of the day, I called the office to inquire as to why he hadn't called and I was told that he got "tied up." In the meantime, I missed the deadline for responding to the divorce petition. The next day, the paralegal messaged me to inform me that they were "about to start preparing the petition"....... I didn't need a petition, that had already been filed by the other party, I needed them to file a response to the petition. Clearly they didn't read through any of the information or forms I had promptly provided them upon retaining their services and they had no idea what was going on. I fired them and hired the Tisdale law firm who, within 24 hours, had filed a response on my behalf which fortunately was accepted by the courts in spite of the passed deadline. I have been trying to get a refund of my retainer fee and they're giving me the runaround. I read the fee agreement and they take $3400 off the top that is non refundable!!! That $3400 isn't applied towards the hourly work they do on your case, it's just their representation fee. As to the other $5100, it remains to be seen if I will ever see that again. These guys are expensive and incompetent. Do yourself a favor and call the Tisdale Law Firm instead. They charge less and they actually get things done and communicate with you. read more

He wouldn't let me finish a sentence without trying to cut me off. He tried to tell me what I was saying was wrong. Terrible attorney office which does not provide representation for its clients. I filed my divorce through his office but due to "holiday hours," my ex ended up serving me first 3 months later. Brett sends others to do his dirty work for him. Someone named Mike showed up to my mediation appointment. He knew nothing about my case or received my paperwork I had sent to the office. I went IN PERSON to this office nearly every month for an entire year before I was divorced. Every single time I was told to write my issue online so someone else could address it. I didn't get what I requested in my divorce. The only thing Brett did was my initial consultation to get my $. He didn't even show his face at my divorce hearing. In fact, I was given the wrong location by his office & missed my own divorce. In my divorce, I forfeited my house to my ex. This office lost my notarized paperwork 3 times. In July 2019 I paid a $6000 retainer for a divorce because the office of Brett H. Pritchard said it would be a "contested divorce" It was not and my wife and I agreed on custody and property within one hour. We stood before a judge in Williamson County while our lawyers read off the divorce agreement before us. The judge thanked my wife and I for being amicable and told us to come back in 30 days with the signed decree for the final hearing and we'd be officially divorced. 90 days came and went. Again, 90 days. I asked my lawyer (Brent Sykora) to please type it up so I could get it done and over with. Finally, in December 2019 I signed the decree. It was forwarded to my wifes lawyer for signature. In February 2020, I asked the office of Brett P if I was officially divorced yet (you never actually get to talk to a lawyer, it is always a clerk) The response back was "We sent the decree to opposing counsel in December, we haven't heard a response yet, Ill follow up" So after 60 days, I had to ask for them to follow up. I never got an answer on what was going on or what the hold up was, I did get a bill for $150 for looking at and replying to my email. I paid and responded "guess I won't be asking any more questions and I will just wait until you tell me I am divorced." In April 2020, I was asked to pay and additional $750 to finish the divorce because a "substantial amount of work still needed to be done" What work that could possibly be other than filing the damn thing is beyond me? We agreed on the divorce in Aug 2019, I signed it in Dec 2019 and now in April 2020 "substantial work" needs to be done. Supposedly, I had a final court date on April 24th that was cancelled due to coronavirus. Ask me if I have gotten another date or an status update, the answer is no I haven't. They are con artists. Horrible attorney. Never filed for divorce for me and after 3 months of that I was filed on by my ex. Talks the game but once he has your money he disappears. He never came to my ONE AND ONLY court date for my divorce, he sent in another attorney that smelt like a liquor farm. The only reason I got anything is because my ex didn't want it. I was then told my divorce decree would be done because of how horrible everything had gone (my total experience)...but they charged me for any call or email to check on in and any calls they made to the opposing counsel. We used this lawfirm in 2009. Paid a $3500 retainer. Never was sent anything showing how our money was used until today, 11/17/2012. Now we have a bill. WTF?? The bookkeeping is horrible.
