I love this place and whenever I visit my daughter at FSU I make time to stop in. This last stop, it was lunchtime and I was hungry. I grabbed a 6" sausage dog with mustard along with the other items I was purchasing. It was every bit as good as the smoked and fresh I typically bring home to cook/heat up for myself. A beautiful drive through canopy roads 12 miles from Tallahassee will take you to Bradley's family store. Established 1927 and building is still there 3 generations later. Inside you will smell delicious gluten free and preservative free sausage. People come from all over the country to visit this store and to try their famous tractor milled grits. We took home hot pepper sauces and several preserves . They were so friendly here from the guys in back serving sausage dogs and links to checkout. Walking around the store is nostalgic for old time items like RC cola and small games from the 60s. Out on the porch are 4 rocking chairs and by the lake are places to picnic which we did with my parents who said they felt they were on vacation since it was so peaceful. This was an unexpected turn back in time to a store that started in the 1920s. With the original building still standing , Bradleys still makes handmade sausage without preservatives and grits . I can see why people drive from all over the state to pass the canopy roads to get here. The staff were very helpful in explaining what they were serving in the back of the store. They even had locally produced honey and milk in glass jars. After purchasing some merch to take home we sat on the picnic tables close by the lake . Will be returning the next we return to Tallahassee for their barbecue. read more

I came here to visit what I consider a "Roadside Attraction" while driving across Florida, these old country stores are becoming harder and harder to find especially ones that are still doing what generations before them started - this old country store is filled with some pretty nostalgic pieces but that ain't why people make the journey. Today I was hoping to get a smoked pork chop sandwich on white bread but they were sold out so we each ordered a famous spicy "sausage dog" and it didn't disappoint, of course the best part of any destination is the drive and getting here provides a exhilarating 12 mile drive under a canopy of trees a.k.a. Canopy Road from Tallahassee. The staff here was friendly but focused on the mission "selling sausage" there's plenty of seating outside whether you grab a seat on the old wooden porch or a stump or picnic table under the old oak trees - today it looked like most of the locals chose to sit on the tail gates of their pick-up trucks, this place is definitely not a bucket list item for them this is just part of their normal routine it seems. I'm glad I stopped and I enjoyed the sausage dog but unless I get lost in the future it's not likely I'll make the drive again kinda of a been there done that type of place for travelers... read more

We have been buying Bradley sausages for years, so this experience was especially disappointing. We purchased a batch right before Thanksgiving, and within just two days, the sausages had already turned moldy and had to be thrown away. This has never happened to us before, and it was a complete disaster--especially during a busy holiday week when we were relying on the product. Receiving a batch in such poor condition was frustrating and unacceptable. We truly hope quality control improves so other customers don't experience the same issue. read more

The sausage was SO GOOD and having a classic cola made the experience all the more enjoyable (my boyfriend has a cream soda - highly recommend). Walk through the doors of Bradley's and welcome to 1955. Games, candies, soda pop all from the era. It's a trip down memory lane. Bradley's opened in 1927 and has been going strong ever since. Their claim to fame is sausage. You can buy it from the case, frozen. Or, you can order individual dogs. I had a spicy 6" and topped it with sauerkraut, yellow mustard & relish. My wife had the same with spicy mustard instead of lettuce? My son ordered the footlong with mustard & onions. We added some chips & soft drinks. Fountain refills are 25¢. Yep. You read that right. Best sausage ever? Not even close. I'm told their grits are outstanding. This Yankee won't touch em. The short sausage was mealy~on the verge of crumbling. Flavor was ok, but would have been far better had they been grilled rather than steamed. My son's footlong had better texture, but still would have benefited from grilling. The bun gets soggy from all the moisture from the steamer. Still. It's a great experience. A walk down memory lane. And you meet the nicest folks. Reminds me of Luckenbach, TX. Just a sausage "stand". A gift shop. Lots of soft drinks. And great people. Visit Bradley's and relive the 50's. read more

I have been making the trek to Bradley's every couple of months since the pandemic began to stock up on their sausage and, although I wish they were a little more careful with mask wearing, it usually is not too anxiety inducing. Wear your mask and wash your hands after you leave and you should be okay. Just don't go between 11-2 when they get busy. I went brain dead today and made that mistake. In the past few months I have been so careful to go after 2pm when business is slower but today that didn't even cross my mind until we were almost to Bradley's. There were lots of cars in the parking lot and many people going in and out. Although everybody I saw had a mask on today, there wasn't too much social distancing going on inside. I was quite glad to get out the door with my purchases so I could bring my anxiety level back down sitting in the car. I don't think I will forget to go after 2pm next time. I am going to chalk today up to a combination of senior moment/hungry/been out of Bradley's since before Thanksgiving and move on. However, in another moment of brilliance, I got 8 links of smoked sausage without thinking about how many sausage dogs that will make and I now have 32 bun length sausages to individually wrap and squeeze into my freezer. That's enough for about 3-4 months for the 2 of us. I guess there's a good chance I might have my covid vaccine shots by then and I will be able to get back to going whenever I want. :-) Anxiety inducing or not, their sausage is still delicious and now that I have calmed down I am happy to have my supply restocked. Plus they had a new version of their sausage available in smaller breakfast link size in both their fresh sausage and smoked sausage versions. I had to get a few of those as well to have for breakfast. Bradley's morning, noon and night would be a pretty good day. read more

My husband has been trying to take me here for a zillion years, but we always happen to be in Tallahassee for holidays or its too late on a Sunday. My husband has had their sausage shipped to us. I purchased 2 sausage sandwiches and browsed, while my cousin pointed out artifacts and their uses. During the week, friends of a cousin invited us to their home. Home of one of the top hotdogs I've had. Well, to call it a hotdog doesn't do it justice. This is a homemade and smoked, 100 percent pure pork with no fillers dog. And the price is solid, Only $4.50. I have been there a few times and it's always been a good experience. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

People go for the sausage and usually get a lot more. I go for their white corn meal and yellow corn meal for my homemade cornbread. I like their "rat" cheese (hoop cheese for the non southern folks). I like to get sausage dogs for lunch and they are outstanding. The people are nice! Kids will enjoy all the old fashioned candy that they have. I can usually find a gift or two. Take a drive out in the country and go back in time. Order a sausage dog and cola and sit in a big rocking chair on the front porch or at one of their pick Nick tables under the oaks. Slow down and enjoy the experience. read more

It was a popular place with locals who were greeted by name and others who bought ice to stock up on products to transport home. We ate on rockers on the porch and there were also picnic tables on-site. Every time I visit my parents in Tallahassee they have some new place or sight to show me. This most recent visit was full of cool places and Bradley's Country Store was quite unique. We drove for what seemed like a while, about 45 minutes or so. The long winding roads and open terrain make things feel much further apart than they actually are. Driving to Bradley's takes you out of the city quickly and has you passing farm after farm. There was livestock and churches. Eventually you come to Bradley's, which is a stand alone little house of sorts. It's wooden and shows it's age. Walking through, you can feel the uneven floorboards, dipping and sloping down. This condition doesn't matter though. The experience of walking around and seeing what this place has to offer is unlike any place I've been to. There is fresh produce and frozen vegetables. Small housewares, unique in their southern charm. You can find local honey, candy from the past and cookbooks. The real draw for me is their meat counter in the back. Everything is fresh and made right there. We ordered 2lbs of breakfast sausage to go, You can also have a fresh sausage, hot and ready to eat on the spot. Topped with mustard and ketchup, it was one of the best I've ever had. Bradley's takes you back to a simpler time and it's a nice way to spend the afternoon. read more

Bradly's is a must stop if you are passing by, buts it's also,destination worthy. The sausages are outstanding. I usually don't like or eat them,but the smell got me and wholly,smokes they were good. I ordered two to share with my 130# Golden Retriever. We were both thrilled. They also have some nice jelly assortments to chose from and classic candy. They are warm and welcoming. This was a fun and unique, historic pit stop on our way to Thomasville, GA from Tallahassee, FL. It is so cool inside! This is a Tallahassee Landmark. I love this sausage! It really doesn't get ANY better. If I didn't have any teeth I have to gum it till I could eat it! There are a lot of items only found in authentic country store but the meat counter in the back, is where it's at! The fresh ribs, the smoked pork chops, the GREAT sausage both smoked and fresh and don't forget the breakfast sausages! It's a nice winding road to get there but you get yourself a freshly cooked sausage dog from the bag. I always get the foot long ... why? Because it's great and it lasts a little longer! On this 90° Saturday afternoon people were streaming in and out, a busy day. Guys behind the rear counter were smiling and helpful. We bought two sausage dogs for lunch, too spicy for us, but still darned good. My mouth had a little burn for awhile there. There's a cooler of old time glass-bottle drinks and fountain drinks for lunch. Not sure why this is listed as closed--it most definitely isn't! It doesn't look like much from the outside--kind of small and run down. Inside are what you'd expect--a mix of canned/boxed goods. But if you make your way to the back, that's where the good stuff is! They have a great selection of things like mayhaw jelly, spicy bread & butter pickles, tupelo honey, etc. And the meat counter. They specialize in pork products--bacon and sausage in particular. They also serve sausage dogs--that's what you want to come here for. They have regular and large (close to footlong), spicy and regular. On our visit, I had the large spicy sausage and my companion the regular regular sausage. Both were spectacular--good flavor all through, and a great mouth-feel. You knew that this started out as meat! The moment you park your car, you're taken back in time. The store has a "Fried Green Tomatoes" feel to it. Everyone is super friendly. There are rocking chairs on the front porch. It's timeless. I always go straight to the back and order a sausage sandwich- keep it simple with only mustard, although you can get other condiments. While that's cooking up, I get my sausage to go. This time I took back 6 lbs of the delicious pork. Enough to last me a few months. Grab yourself a cold drink and eat your sausage on the front porch. Perfection!!! I've been a fan of Bradley's for over 20 years. It's an attraction in itself, but their sausage is the best I've had. They usually have some grilling in the back of the store (an old country store - turn of the century style - no modern upgrades) and the smell will drive you to the meat counter. Normally they grill the mild sausage - but we prefer the medium with a little kick to it. Get an RC Cola and have a sausage dog sitting in a rocking chair on their front porch - it'll take you back 50 years. Bradley's is located on a canopy road, so the trip there is part of the experience. Smoked links or fresh ground - you can't go wrong. Great sausage, period. The drive out to this shack was so pretty. Centerville is a gorgeous canopy road. We got a sausage dog there and it was really yummy. Cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. They had soda bottles of all kinds of interesting soda. We got a ginger root beer. They had cheerwine! They also sell their stone-ground corn. We picked up some cornmeal for cornbread but their different grinds are perfect for those that love grits. It was a nice little afternoon deciding on what type of sausages to get. Our sausages were perfect for Superbowl Sunday. Their patty breakfast sausage was unbelievable.
