I am a huge fan of Brahmin, but almost stopped buying altogether after meeting their Director of Stores with regard to a professional matter (Brahmin Corporate is aware of the issue). I was seriously considering selling my entire Brahmin collection and going with Kate Spade, because I felt their DoS was NOT the type of woman I want to be affiliated with and as the DoS, she is the face of Brahmin stores. I spoke about this matter with other Brahmin collectors, and we came to the agreement that 'Brahmin employees come and go; WE are who last." Ergo, I decided to increase my collection. I was too late to find a particular color and style at retail, so I went to the Factory Store (it's close to where I live). I have to say that I was extremely disappointed with the service. While the store was full, it was partially because a large group was shopping together to purchase a gift for one person. Yet, even after that group cleared out, the service was far from the personalized service I usually get there. When I asked if they had any Cordelia checkbook covers to go with the Cordelia checkbook wallet, you would think I had just asked for the moon! The Associate came back with one - the only one the store had, a sample piece. Interesting, considering I had asked about sample pieces earlier (I like them because they are one of a kind) and was told everything was "on the top shelf against the back wall", yet this piece came from the back room It was little things like this that turned me off. I was carrying my Tia in "Majestic" (Autumn 2022) and the Associate commented on how pretty it was and that she'd "never seen that color". When I told her I have had it for three seasons now, a look of disgust came over her face. If I cared what she thought, I would have told her off but figured she will be gone in a few months anyway and wasn't worth my time. Brahmin, you don't have a store problem; you have a Mackenzie problem; she hires people with the same attitude problem that she has. I give this store 3 stars, and they are all for Jane, the Store Manager. She is amazing! read more

Brahmin.com customer service is horrible!! They don't help you decide on the perfect handbag, etc. Also- I had 3 orders lost which UPS refunded brahmin for, but Brahmin refused to refund me even after they originally said they would!! Stay away from brahmin! read more

I tried to purchase two clutch/ wallets late at night. I left the order in the box, as I needed to see if my sister wanted one too. The next morning i tried to close the order and it was gone. I couldn't find the same price at all. Instead, when I went to reorder, the price had increased by $17 or $18. I emailed customer service to ask what happened, and never received an answer. They make you feel welcome and you are not made to feel like you're bothering them. Okay, yes I am a guy and I am not going to speak for the quality of the hand bag or even what they look like. Well actually, some look really nice in a handbag kind of way and others, well I am not sure who would want to been seen in public with them but.... this is not about a man owning a purse. This is really about the experience of buying one for the better half. First, I think it is organized so that a man can navigate with out his head exploding. So they had all of the styles(colors / textures) organized with the different types of bags. So you could see one style very well and how it looked on what ever type of bag. Then you would move to the next style and see the same organization. FANTASTIC. Then you just move your way around the store until you find the style you like, and hopefully the type of bag. Then grab it and get the heck out of dodge. Oh, by the way, this is mostly leather. So the stuff that looks like alligator is pressed leather. Seems odd. Back in Texas if you want an alligator hand bag, that is what you get. Oh well. read more

I purchased my first Brahmin bag on the advice of a friend. I have a collection of high end handbags and I thought a Brahmin would be a nice addition. I was very pleased with my initial purchase - a Carmela hobo. However, in just 3 months the gold hardware was showing signs of wear. I contacted Brahmin and returned the bag for repair. The whole process was a nightmare. This company has no clue how to track items or communicate with customers. Once I sent the bag in, they were unable to tell me where it was or when I could expect it back. You don't know what you did with my nearly $300 purse?! When I finally received the purse (after weeks of wondering), they had not replaced the hardware so I called their customer service. They never called back. There are other companies that make bags just as nice or nicer at this price point. Brahmin is a waste. read more

While I am very impressed with the design of the bags, especially their unique alligator-like stamped look, I am extremely disappointed with the fact that Brahmin has shifted most of its manufacturing to China. I don't know if the other reviews talking about "supporting their neighbors" were posted by women who bought their bags before Brahmin shifted manufacturing overseas, but I came here in December of 2013 and neither the saleswoman nor I could find a bag made in America. I came to this factory store hoping to buy some of the bags that are made in the warehouse attached to it, but after looking at more than two dozen tags, I only found bags made in China. What a disappointment! What bothers me even more is that even after shifting production overseas, the prices have not declined in the slightest. Expect to pay $300+ for a nicer purse. Lastly, the service wasn't quite as deluxe as I would expect for a store selling pricey handbags. The saleswoman didn't seem very knowledgable about the manufacturing process or the various model likes that they carried. read more

Stay away from my Brahmin Tent Sale, biatches. Stay away. The best kept handbag secret in the region, is less and less of secret every day. Brahmin bags are simply stunning. In both looks and quality, I think they run rings around most other designer handbags. (I'm looking at you, Coach.) The craftsmanship, the styling, and the shapes are perfection. It's a big, beautiful bonus that the business is headquartered locally. Support your neighbors, ladies! Brahmin's accessories are simple, lovely and original. My favorite accessories they produce are leather rosettes made from the remnants of the bag production process. They come in all sorts of colors--yes, even mauve snakeskin! They are meant to be tied so that they dangle off the side of your handbags. So fun and precious: a really brilliant idea. My favorite thing about the biannual Tent Sale and the Fairhaven outlet store? The sample bags! They may have a little suttin' suttin' going on that makes them less than perfect...but each and every one is a head-turning, one of a kind piece offered at a steep discount from the brand's retail prices. As my Brahmin collection grows, so does my absolute affinity to the brand. There's nary a day where you won't see me rolling with one of my Brahmins. read more

Twice a year - there is a tent sale (usually fall and spring). Twice a year, my heart beats a little faster, my palms get sweaty, and I dream about the smell of new leather. Brahmin is a top brand - well made and designed, and it is based in... Fairhaven?! Seriously (yes, the Fairhaven just east of New Bedford). Who knew that handbags that can afford the Newport waterfront rent and featured in the pages of Vogue could be found across the street from a Walmart? I keep expanding my collection- and I still get compliments from my bag that is 3+ years old as I do the gorgeous burnt orange satchel I just picked up. The only wear on any bag is my own stupidity (uncapped pens or leaky lip gloss, accidentally snagging the leather... those sorts of things). I only allow myself to shop during the tent sale (up to 75% off) - and those prices are amazing. I usually pick up a few Christmas gifts for friends and family during the fall sale too. The layout of the sale this weekend (Sept 16-18, 2011) was the best yet - it didn't feel overly congested or chaotic. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and I never feel like they 'push' anything on you. However - I do recommend springing the extra buck or two for a storage bag to keep your Brahmin in mint condition when not in use. The quarters between the seats of your car should do it. read more

This is my second time here for repairs. The store has lots of great bags! But the staff are so accommodating and helpful with getting my bag repaired and back to me in a timely fashion. There's a small outlet here, and it's so awesome I considered not telling. But then I couldn't keep it to myself, and told my DC friends and my NY friends and now everytime they visit RI they want to go to the Brahmin outlet. And now I'm telling you. This is a relic from the times when outlets actually offered quality items at a real discount. The bags aren't defective; some are from discontinued lines, some are refurbished, and some are just there because you got very lucky. Brahmin bags look like they cost $5000. They're not real crocodile (just stamped to look that way), and I have never received so many compliments on any accessory or item of clothing I've ever owned. When will Brahmin realize that if they opened a store in NYC, they would absolutely kill it? read more

They are actually slightly cheaper than their outlets because they do not have the overhead of these leases and staff..... They are sooo friendly to. Please don't buy their leather products! I purchased a gold wallet with like a croco leather pattern on it. I paid a lot of money for it, about 6 months later there is like a thin film peeling off the leather in various places. I am very careful and take care of things or at least try to. I thought that for the amount of money about $150 I was purchasing a quality product, I am not! This wallet is peeling off like an old skin, I wish I could take a picture to show. Absolutely horrible customer service. I bought my bag in March and the handle coating is peeling off like skin! Brahmin's customer service reps are snarky and rude!! The manager kept talking over me and arguing with me about their stupid policy that you have to pay for the shipping cost AND the box to send it back! Are you kidding me? I was given a beautiful tote and wallet as a graduation gift from nurse practitioner school. I loved the bag but the bright blue color was not for me. I figured this would be an easy exchange. The woman at the desk was very rude. It took her a long time to find the purchase that was made 3 days prior. She finally found it. Told me I had 141$ to spend as an exchange then said I was not able to because these items had been on sale. She really made me feel uncomfortable and was unlike the beautiful service we had received in the past. Customer beware, exchanges are not possible and the customer service at corporate is not cooperative. Such a shame. Please contact me with any questions. The Fairhaven outlet is horrible. One woman seems to run the whole show. I was told to come back tomorrow and maybe the manager could help. I live an hour away and my time is as valuable as the next person. I also appreciated that the store was easy to navigate, and the saleswoman offered help but didn't insist on shadowing me. I went to their tent sale in May. I bought a piece of carry on luggage. I did not realize that the items at the tent sale were SECONDS! They must be. When I got it home, the zippers are defective and I have called several times over the past two weeks and left messages for Debbie, the person in charge of tent sales division. Apparently, the tent sales are run by a separate group and the main business doesn't get involved other than to send you over to an answering machine for Debbie. She doesn't return calls. Also, apparently all 3 of the people who could help "must be in a meeting" because the operator could not reach any of them. That meeting was last week. One heck of a long meeting. Bought my first Brahmin handbag less than 2 months ago. It's super cute - I got lots of compliments on it. It was about $200 and I noticed today that the the shoulder strap is just about to rip out of the main body of the bag. I have never bought a purse at this price point that needed repairs at ANY point, much less at 2 months. Even if they fix it (which they may not because despite registering the bag online, you must keep your receipt, which I did not) it will take up to 2 months and I get to pay shipping! So I would get back the bag I bought for summer use right about the time fall starts. Awesome. read more
