Needed routine maintenance of surrounding trees around the property. I was concerned that trees were looking ragged and some were overgrown. The China Berry trees were starting to move over into the neighbor's yard and encroaching on their roof. I didn't want to be responsible for any wind damages. The front juniper trees were hiding too much of the house and getting too tall. None of the trees presented a hazard so I wanted to get ahead of the growth and keep them healthy. The estimate was very reasonable. Still, more importantly, the crew themselves were exceptional. Arriving 20 minutes early to group and organize they started work promptly at the promised appointment time of 7 am. There were a total of 6 trees to trim and shape with a crew of three men. They conferred with me before, during and after to ensure I was getting exactly what I wanted and what was promised. Entire job was completed in 45 minutes! I've attached some before and after photos. Next week I have a landscaper coming to clean up the yard so please ignore the weeds. I had this bright idea I would experiment and see if the weeds would grow in like a meadow. As a new homeowner in Tucson originally from New England I was not prepared for weeds that bite back. No more experiments with landscaping. I wanted a tree expert to handle the pruning because I wanted to ensure expertise. I asked for a price to remove a very large Eucalyptus in my front yard that had died. I was very concerned for the surrounding infrastructure as it was within close proximity to the tree. BOTS gave me a fair price and also a letter from their insurer naming me as additionally insured. (i requested this) They showed up on time, had all the proper equipment and manpower. They completed the job in the timeframe they suggested, without incident, leaving what i consider a clean, raked yard without damage to the surrounding area. I definitely recommend them. Earlier this year, I bought a fixer upper that would scare Joanna Gaines. In the backyard stands a 60-foot eucalyptus tree. It's a true behemoth that has been lording over this neighborhood and, more importantly, my house for decades. It's a strong tree but all it takes is one good Tucson storm -- and I've already seen a few in my short time here -- and some large branches could rain down and cause serious damage to me or my very nice neighbors. Thus far, this superb team has removed a small tree and an outsized batch of oleanders. This morning, they began working on the eucalyptus tree. This was lawn chair must see viewing. One guy was in and out of this tree for six hours deftly selecting and chain sawing branch after branch. One particularly large branch fell to the ground with a thud that shook the house. This is dangerous work but the expert dangled skillfully from the canopy with mountaineering prowess. This multi day project wasn't cheap but it was worth the price. If just one branch were cut incorrectly, it could have ripped through my roof in an instant. This crew is providing peace of mind. Day 1 is over. They'll be here tomorrow to finish the removal and grind the massive stump into sawdust. read more

I'd rate them higher than 5 stars, if I could. From beginning to end, there was great communication. We had huge trees that probably never had been serviced. They were nicely shaped and trimmed. All was nicely cleaned up and finished in mostly a day, and they later returned to finish up, and left things better than they have ever looked at our house. I am VERY happy with their service! Had two appx 25' trees removed from the property with easy access to both. I had contracted for removal, stump grinding and mulch removal. They left two divots where the stump was, sticks and debris behind, trenched out the front lawn with the Bobcat to the degree that the lawn was flooding and kicked dirt up against the white PVC fence. I called Alex, left a VM, no return call. Sent an email to the office, no return email Sent a second email saying I not longer wanted a return call and I would post my review. Miraculously less than 10 min after I sent the second email Alex decided to return the call. I had already had my gardener fix the mess, they left at an additional expense to me, which he agreed to reimburse in lieu of posting an honest review. I declined his offer. read more

I contacted Branching Out after a dead tree fell over in my yard and I had several palo verdes that needed dead branches cut out. The estimator Derek was very nice and left me with the impression that they would make me happy. He also said it would take all day with so much work. So the day comes, the crew arrives and then I look out my front window and there are the police, holding down what appeared to be a crew member. He had decided to go into my neighbor's yard and attempted to get in the house. I was told it was his first day. That took a bit of time to clear up. The crew worked hard even through a rain shower. They cut the dead tree into sections and chippered it and did the other items. But when I was told there were done, it was only 2 pm so I was a little worried about the work. There was one palo verde that I felt was underdone with the branch trimming and I showed the foreman. He made an excuse, saying it was fine (he already had my money) and they all left. I told Derek about this issue and he promised to come by the next Monday and take a look. He never showed or called, hence the loss of a star. I feel like if you disagree with the final outcome, the least they could do is take my concerns seriously. read more

About a year ago we started worrying fairly regularly about a large willow tree in our backyard which had not ever learned how to play properly with others, so to speak. It had been penned in by flagstones and massive roots were deforming the flagstones, among other issues. The problem was that the tree was so huge, we knew it was too big to handle ourselves. Still, we were reluctant to have it removed because it would be such a drastic change to our view. And so, we dragged our feet ...until recently, when the problem became unavoidable. I nervously called several tree removal companies and ended up hiring Branching Out after meeting with Jim for an estimate. He is really knowledgeable and experienced with the desert ecology here in Tucson and shared his understanding about our problem tree with us. Their price was a little on the high side, but as you will see from my comments, it turned out to be well worth it. They scheduled the removal almost immediately and when the day came, they showed up *on time* with a crew of several workers. These guys obviously knew what they were doing and from the very first moment we could tell we had made a good choice in hiring them. What a team! The tree itself stood roughly 25-30 feet tall and right away, their designated-height-man suited up in climbing spurs and hiked up the tree to lop off branches. It was truly awe-inspiring to watch this guy operate a full-sized chainsaw with his arm fully outstretched! As he carved away, the guys on the ground took care of dragging off all of the dropped limbs, which covered a very impressive amount of open ground alongside of their wood chipper. They ran all of the branches through the chipper, carried away the firewood sized trunk wood (which was clearly diseased, sealing our, admittedly-hindsighted, judgment that it really, *really* needed to be removed!), and cleaned up every last bit of sawdust and leaf matter from the area. Every single interaction I had with this company was positive and gave me great confidence. I hope that I never have to have another tree removed, but trees grow and die... I now know exactly who to call if anything like that becomes an issue in the future! read more

We had a mesquite tree that had started to lean and come up out of the ground on one side. The guys from Branching Out came out the day www called . they squeezed in the removal of our tree because it was threatening to fall on a brick wall and could have done much more extensive damage. They came out and took the stump out a few days later. Everyone we dealt with was extremely knowledgeable . They suggested a,replacement tree and we will have them plant it for us. These guys provided good tree cutting services, but it is the "collecting" aspect of their business that is shocking ! I am out of state and told them I would send a check after the job was done and my neighbor saw the work and let me know the job looked good. I wanted to pay this way because they charge EXTRA to run a credit card. I got a call from these guys anyway the next day asking where my payment was. I told them I had not gotten word from my neighbor yet. I emailed the neighbor who sent me a pic and said the job looked great. I put a check in the mail at my own business on a Sat morning, four (4) days after the work was done, which was not picked up until Monday for some odd reason. So today, 9 days after the work, they are calling me again demanding immediate payment !! WAY-- WAY OVERBOARD on hounding a customer for payment !! read more

Not a great way to begin what would have been a 20 tree job. The owner, Jim, showed up at a guard gated community, made his way in to the community for "another" property and decided to show up at a property I manage completely unannounced believing it was acceptable to arrive solely because he left me a message this morning re: making the initial assessment appointment. I had not called back yet as management of this property is not my main job. He startled the tenants inside, whom are petite younger gals. This set off a chain reaction. Security was called, he then returned my call and was aggressive and defensive. Knowing he was in the wrong we both mutually decided on the spot we were not a good fit for one another. I was originally pleased with their service. I hate dealing with the two mesquites in my front yard, with their malicious thorniness and lack of desire to fit into my trash can. While they did not actually 'stump grind' the one as we had initially agreed, I let it go thinking they had decided it was salvageable. Fine. However, within two weeks a nice windstorm had caused a large branch on the other mesquite to blow partially over, obscuring the path to my front door (not awesome). Closer inspection revealed that the branch had bent in a place where it was partially severed. I'm not a tree expert, but I have a hard time believing the branch was destined to fall if not for the sever. No damage was done to the house, thankfully, so I called and requested that they finish removing the branch. I was told I would receive a call back. I did not. So now seven days after that phone call I'm sitting here, having dealt with the stupid thing myself, bleeding in five places, and having said 'Ow eff!' at least 12 times. So if you're lucky enough to have your original service suffice, you will probably be fine. If not, well. Sorry. read more

August 2018: A summer microburst took down our giant mesquite sending it tumbling across the road, blocking access to all traffic, as well as causing a second mesquite to list dangerously. Branching Out came within the hour, with lots of manpower including the owner, Jim, and did a tremendous job of chain-sawing and clearing debris, all within one day. November 2018: This was a planned job of cleaning up three trees, including an enormous mesquite that had been long neglected in the HOA area. The tree surgeon, Alex, did an amazing job, beyond anything we could have envisioned, but there was way too much to clear in one day so they returned to do an excellent clean up. Branching out has trimmed and removed several of my trees including 3 50' tall Italian Cypress trees. It was not a small job. Involved 6 or 7 guys, a crane, large wood chipper and guy hanging from my tree. They arrived on time, did a great job. Didn't crash the trees into my house, which was a concerned, and they lifted those three trees up and over my pool wall where they continued to process through a wood chipper. They left me some stumps as souvenirs. And their price was reasonable for the amount of work and equipment on site including a stump grinder. I did have one issue with another job though, which I've forgiven them for.I got an estimate for a trimming...around $600 but hadn't scheduled yet as I wanted to get more estimates. To my surprise, I wake up at 7 and notice two guys in my yard and my tree was mostly cut down. It was shocking as I told them I hadn't accepted the quote...must have been miscommunication internally. In exchange, I told them if they agreed to do a couple other things then we'd call it even, which they then did. I was satisfied in the end. read more

One of the limbs on my mesquite tree needed to be pulled away from the porch roof and these guys came in and put a cable between it and the main trunk. I contacted Branching Out Tree Service for an estimate on removing tree & trimming our palm tree. Someone came out that same day & they promptly emailed an estimate. I thought their estimate was very reasonable for what needed to be done. I called to give them a deposit to get on their schedule & was told that was not necessary which surprised me. I was told someone would contact me in a few days to let me know when they could do the job & they did. They arrived when they said they would be here & did an excellent job removing the tree & cleaning up the debris. They also did a wonderful job trimming the palm tree & their price for that was also reasonable. We had the unfortunate experience of having a branch of a large afghan pine fall on our house during a monsoon rainstorm. We were overwhelmed and called a number of tree professionals to come by and take a look. Branching Out Tree Service came by within a few hours of our call and gave us an quote below the others we had received. Jim who was very professional and amiable also stated he would get a crew to my house by the end of the day to have the branch removed. It all sounded almost too good to be true so I became skeptical I ended up going with the tree company who had been recommended to me by a friend instead. They scheduled me and then cancelled and rescheduled and it ended up taking a week to get the tree off of my house by the other company. When it came to trimming back the rest of my large afghan pine trees to prevent any further damage to my home, I decided to give Branching Out Tree Service a try. Really they were the nicest of the many tree companies in town we got quotes from. They were most prompt in coming to give us a quote and the most prompt in scheduling our service. We have large trees which required a crane and a large team. We had fears of branches falling on to our house causing further damage. Instead, it was a great experience. The price was great. He called back on Tuesday morning and told me he would be out that day to provide an estimate and for the second time he did not show up or call. I have not heard from him since.
