Horticulture Unlimited has provided good service for us. The landscapers are very friendly and try hard to carry out our wishes with respect to the yard. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that it is not easy to communicate with the yard crew when we are out of town. read more

Great experience working through the entire process of design and execution of the plan.

I hired Horticulture Unlimited in September 2020 for landscape maintenance. As experts they prescribed quarterly maintenance paying $125/visit and pre-emergent weed control at $195/application. I agreed with their proposal entirely as written (attached photo) with service beginning in October 2020 (attached photo) and continuing quarterly so in January 2021, April 2021, July 2021 etc. In July 2021 they billed me (attached photo) for service I didn't receive. When I contacted Andrew on Monday 8/9 he said he would have a crew out Thursday 8/12 or Friday 8/13. I never heard back from them after 8/9. Note: This review has been revised as the owner's initial reaction asserted that I did not elect for pre-emergent herbicide, so I added the contract and receipts showing I did elect for that. Bottom line if you are looking for reliable automatic hassle-free landscape maintenance this is not for you. They may do a fine job if you have time to keep after them. read more

We hired horticulture unlimited to design and implement our backyard project. There seems to be a disconnect in the project managers communication with each other,the workers, and with the home owners. I was often confused during the four weeks about who was in charge and when I asked one manager they would tell me to ask another. The design was great for our yard size but Bradley should have brought be photos and samples of everything being used, like rock and lighting at the start, It would have saved some confusion. I have nothing to say but wonderful things about our two workers, Edgardo and Juan, who spent three weeks with us digging and planting and spreading rock. Edgardo was invaluable to me as he kept in touch with me almost daily and made sure things went as I desired. In the end we are happy with the outcome, even with the hiccups along the way. read more

We did a complete redo of our front and back. This included a tear out of old plants, irrigation systems, lights, cisterns, and knick-knack crap left from previous owners. They installed a new irrigation system, landscape lighting, rock, and many beautiful plants. The workers were very friendly and easy to communicate with, and they stuck to the plan exactly. I hired Horticulture Unlimited for some irrigation work, as my system needed an overhaul. Not only did they completely fix broken pipes and sprinkler heads, but installed some drip irrigation in a garden area where I had some some vegetables and herbs planted in a raised garden bed. They did the work quicker and cheaper than expected and also pruned back some hedges that were preventing water from getting to certain plants, without me even asking. Their work was clean, professional and I'd hire them again. Thank you to the crew. They were great! read more

Piss poor ownership to management.They install a new irrigation system but damaged many of the electrical lines for the outdoor lighting . Then billed me for the damages and we had to pay for there screw up .They did a complete landscaping job many plants died would not take responsibility to replace plants within the warranty . The owners Dawn has no consideration for the customer. We had them for over 2 years doing maintenance ,the team was good but was limited on what they could do to help the customer because of the pressure by management. We had to scrutinize ever bill to determine what was correct and what in error. read more

After posting this review i had to return to make my comment clear but i had not read the other reviews prior to adding mine. Ut's true what these negative reviews state. Dawn promises and she is a talker but does not deliver! She is also nice initially then became a bit of a bully. Not a nice professional as I first thought. Im sure she or someone will respond to my review to defend themselves & will never take responsibility. I hope this poor review will wake them up. Especially during this tough time in our country when businesses are closing all around us, Horticulture Unlimited needs to take a hard look at their poor business practices & change. We lost money & time but they will lose much more in the near future. I wanted to give less stars but because Dawn called and at least initially she was professional & timely, i gave 2. We started our project with Horticulture unlimited in Nov 2019, before COVID. Dawn, the owner did return my call immediately and she followed up with an hour long FaceTime meeting. Once we agreed to hire this company, Dawn sent a contract but without a "complete by" date. That was suspicious to me but i returned the contract & requested that Dawn add the date as we had agreed, which she did. i let this go as a fluke but now i understand why she did not add it initially. Our property is in CA & they are in AZ. Dawn asked for a "want list" amongst other things we had discussed and we sent all requests. I did not hear from them until maybe one month past the date they promised completion of drawings. Unfortunately none of the things on my "want list" were on the plans. None! It was upsetting because we were waiting on these plans to start our project. If course when i question why this was so, the person working on the drawings got defensive. He said that because we are in CA its hard to visualize the property. However, early in our meetings we provided videos (9 detailed videos that they never watched) and we did a FaceTime walk around the property AND sent the "want list." The plants they added to the drawings were the typical industrial building type. Nothing like what we requested and discussed throughout our meetings. I felt that because they were only doing drawings & not the installation that they could care less. Dawn pushed her new book constantly too. Bottom line, we wasted precious time and money. Got final drawings early July 2020. Very dissatisfied but we moved on & hired a true landscape architect for our 1/4 acre property landscaping! Starting from scratch but you live & learn. I would not recommend this company at all. By the way, i have been on yelp many years now and i have never posted reviews. I try to let things go but this time i had to post. Just moved to Tucson and our builder uses Horticulture Unlimited for their part of the build so had Dave and his team landscape our back yard and enhance the front yard. The GOOD: they do fairly good work for okay prices. They aren't the cheapest out there, but the couple of times I've hired them they've shown up on time and did the work they said they would do. The landscaping guys also talked to me while working to ensure they were doing what I wanted them to do, asked me questions, and listened to my feedback, which was really good. The BAD: many of the people I talked to at Horticulture Unlimited, including Dawn one of the owners, came off as a bit rude, abrasive, and a bit cold and uncaring, and the only thing they seemed to care about was money and making sure I paid my bill. That seemed to be the most important thing they cared about each time I hired them-- money, money, money. They wanted their money. Just to clarify, I don't think Dawn is actually rude, but she sounds harsh and comes off as abrasive in conversations. The other bad thing was that the workers weren't very professional. The one guy who was supposed to be doing the landscaping, took a personal call and was leaning against my fence talking to someone on his personal phone. Then he must have been angry about something because he was talking very, very loudly to his co-worker and kept cursing and using foul language almost non-stop while he was at my house. I don't think he realized I could hear him cursing and using swear words, almost every other word; things like f*ck and motherf*cker and sh*t etc. I HATE when the contractors I've hired behave and curse like this and so loudly while working at my house. It is so RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! Plus when the workers are angry like this it makes me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. When he realized I was nearby he stopped talking and stopped cursing. Either way, whether I can hear or not, people shouldn't be talking like this while they are working, nor should they be taking personal calls. In the future, I would prefer not to hire these guys again, but if I can't find anyone else, then I'll use them as a last resort. read more

I had used them for some time as regular maintenance for my yard and garden as they gave me the best quote and had enthusiastic customer service. Eventually I stopped my regular services with them as the quality of their work dropped (which was originally adequate at best) and they repaired the ancient and non-functioning sprinkler system without asking me and then charging me for it. The sprinklers never have functioned correctly and, especially after their unapproved repairs, flood and leak into my neighbors yard. Years after canceling my monthly service with them I gave them another shot to remove mistletoe from my tree and do some regular maintenance and clean up of my backyard. I was assured the manager would watch over it and my tree would be trimmed and mistletoe free. The manager left after 15 minutes and the crew broke a watering stake, crushed and pulled out two of the saplings we has planted, and worse of all did not do half of what had been promised. They hacked away at 4 of my oleanders and left the one, the one I specially asked to have trimmed down as it had become over grown, untouched. The tree only had a few branches cut off and it still has mistletoe all over it. The workers then left half way through their stay and vanished for hours before coming back to rake slightly before leaving. The bill came quickly, so far the only part of the service to seem to be prompt and timely. Even though it was the agreed to quote price, I felt I paid much more in time, aggravation, and broken promises. My wife and I have spent some time fixing the damages and I have expressed that I will no longer use this company's services again. There are far better, albeit pricer, companies such as this around. I recommend paying the extra money as it will save you time, gain you more quality, and I'm sure your yards and gardens will thank you. read more

The team at Horticulture Unlimited designed and landscaped both the front and backyards of my house. When they started the work they were here every day at 7:00 am for 6 weeks to complete the work. I found the workers to be very professional and friendly and open to my suggestions. Even my neighbors told me that the workers were very friendly, saying good morning as they past by. The work was beautifully done and now I have a backyard that is a magnet to hummers and butterflies, giving me a place to relax and enjoy. Dawn, from company came out to my property for an estimate, bid or whatever...it was unclear to me. I sensed within a few minutes if she could not close a deal for some grandiose job where they would do maintenance, installation, hardscape, etc... everything she had no interest in the job. She expects to put braces on her kid's teeth or a pool in her backyard with every job. As far as their work ethic/product I don't know they didn't follow-up with bid. As I said didn't trust Dawn from the get go...why would hire them if she's a flake? Tread lightly with this company they probably have tremendous overhead and will expect you to pay for it. read more

Dawn was terrific to work with: prompt, professional and concerned about getting everything we wanted to accomplish on our proposal. We were scheduled after receiving a detailed proposal on our very overgrown residential project. Our crew was terrific. It was their priority to make sure we were happy with each area they worked on, they were immaculate with their removal and very courteous. I would give them 0 if I could. I hired Horticulure Unlimited back in March 2017. They did a great job on the initial clean up for $600. However, for the past 5 months, they did not cut my grass, or clean the backyard but one time. They said it was because my dog was back there. However, I work from home, and all they had to do was knock on the front door and ask me to put my poodle in the house. When the weather started warming up, they changed my water meter box, but inadvertently shut off my water to my grass and the front plants. Hence, my grass died (came back after rain), And, five of my hedge bushes died and are in need of replacing, which they refused to do unless I bought 14 new hedge plants. When I called to tell them about their mistake regarding the water meter, they charged me an additional $65.oo to come out and fix their own mistake. In short, I have had their landscaping service for 5 months, and they have only cut my grass and cleaned my yard once!!!!!! They just got an additional $583.00 from me for no work at $150.00 a month. Dawn talks a good game, but does not deliver. DONT USE THEM. Every response to their other critics on this site lacks any acceptance of responsibility. They are just HORRIBLE!!!!!! read more

I have been with Horticulture Unlimited for about 25 years. They have been amazing. I started with a fully developed landscaped yard when I moved into my home. Horticulture has maintained everything all these years. Even when I had to cut costs in my personal life, they worked with me to continue to provide excellent care of my yard despite my situation. Anytime I have problems, dying plant or irrigation leak, I call explaining the problem and they fix it within a few days. The workers are friendly and act very professionally. I have recommended Horticulture Unlimited to many people over the years and have not heard of any problems. read more

We have been customers of Horticulture Unlimited for about 10 years. We went through three or four other landscaping businesses, and wondered if we'd ever find one that did as promised and took good care of things. I haven't read the other reviews, so I'm uncertain why others have rated them lower. We have had great experiences. They are great at getting the yard looking top shape, and at keeping an eye on what needs to be done when. I don't have to think about irrigation, weed control, tree trimming, etc. It just happens. And Dawn has a very good eye for when we are ready to make changes. They did a brickwork area to make our mailbox more accessible, a beautiful fountain installation, and other projects that not every company would be equipped to handle. I am very pleased with their service, their workers, and with Dawn and her good crew of professionals! read more

It pains me to write this but I have had many sleepless nights thinking about what we got into. We approached HU to do the landscaping in our yard and had a grand vision of what it would be. We explained thoroughly what we wanted and after spending a significant amount of money, the result is not what we were expecting or what we asked for. A 2D overhead drawing was provided and looked to be along the lines of what we wanted so we approved the work. However what was actually provided is far from what we expected. I feel misled and after calculating material costs I was blown away at what we overpaid for. I approached them to remedy the situation and rather than try to get the yard into a spot that was adequate they kept saying they worked to the contract (the contract being a 2d sketch). As noted in other reviews here they will say they tried to fix the problem. They did offer to do additional work, but wanted more money to do so. Save your money and do the work yourself or shop around for better quotes. Again, I am sad that I have to write this. I dislike being mean to others. :( read more

Dawn Fried will promise you the world. But buyer beware. Her irrigation crew in particular should be singled out for its incompetency. They returned multiple times for work done incorrectly and charged me for their shoddy work. She ran a great defense and refused to take responsibility for the incompetency of her crew. I have been left with the impression that Ms. Fried defines success as getting the bid, completing the work, and billing the customer. Leaving the customer satisfied with the outcome of the work is not a priority. We will never again use their services. This was a tough choice since their lawn guy is great. He has always been personable, professional, and competent. He consistently did a great job with our winter and summer lawns. read more

I got 5 estimates for removing 3 trees in backyard. Horticulture Unlimited's estimate was in the middle, so I went with them. I am very glad I did. Ron and Devin were here bright and early each morning of 3 and worked non-stop until 1:30 each day. They were cordial, hard-working and thorough. I had a leaky valve in my irrigation system that my handyman tried to fix, but he wasn't able to so I called Horticulture Unlimited (I had seen one of their trucks in my neighborhood). They responded promptly and had a service person out the next morning. The repair man was at the house for under an hour, but when I turned the valve on before I left for work the valve was still leaking. Thinking that the glue might need time to set, I turned off the valve and decided to check again when I came home from work, but even then the valve still leaked. I have now called Horticulture Unlimited and left messages 3 separate times during the past week to report that the valve was still leaking. However, they have not called me back and instead I received a bill for the service. S0, in the end I still have a leaky valve and Horticulture Unlimited seems uninterested in returning my calls let alone fixing the valve. Yet, their billing is prompt and they expect payment for a job not completed. Very frustrating experience. read more
